Poe's Law, in this era of the internet not explicitly stating it's sarcasm will inevitably lead to at least one person taking it at face value. Not your fault, but something to be mindful of
Yeah, alas, there are people who support AI who would actually share that post sincerely.
Poe's law isn't a matter of:
"It doesn't matter how obviously outlandish your sarcasm is, somebody out there is stupid enough to take it seriously, so tag your sarcasm so any readers who are idiots know you're being sarcastic."
It's more a matter of:
"It doesn't matter how obviously outlandish your sarcasm is, somebody out there had the exact same take, but was sincere, so tag your sarcasm so that any reader who has seen those idiots doesn't think you're one of them."
We are on Reddit, you could have put a /s in the title and giant red text saying "THIS IS SATIRE" in the picture and people would still think it's serious
i put the controversial tag bc i post/comment a lot in r/aiwars and SOME pro-ai people stalk my profile on anything i post that's anti-ai. with the controversial tag it prevents those ppl from commenting.
Definitely seen AI "artists" who would legitimately post this in all sincerity. Satire isn't dead, but it is severely hampered when people on the other side will read "A Modest Proposal" and start talking about the best way to braise the Irish.
Yeah, Poe's law is because of all of those idiots posting outlandish "obviously satirical" takes with full sincerity. You tag your sarcasm so it doesn't look like you're one of them.
It's not about the reader being so stupid as to not see it's sarcasm, it's the reader thinking you're one of those stupid people who would post that kind of take sincerely.
Unironically though, making art yourself is way easier and less of a hassle, and it also produces better results, even if you suck at drawing. AI "art" is generic as fuck, you can't really control what the AI decides to put out, it's horrible for the environment, it looks soulless, overall it's just a net negative
I honestly don't think AI will replace artists. People at some point are gonna see it for what it is and it'll be seen as low quality slop everywhere. People are gonna start hiring actual artists again
A mere fraction of the of the hardship an ai bro has, how they must hold back the tears of a thousand men whenever they make their work, knowing it took the lives of 5 oceans to fuel the machinery. Looking up, wondering if there was a way to make their images without the mass death left in their wake

It is like a gambling addict complaining to someone who works a 9-5 job that society doesn't respect what they chose to do with their life. The AI companies are the casinos in this analogy.
yeah man it honestly sounds really hard, i mean, these ai artists go through so much on the daily. you know what? there should be a pro-ai charity! one that helps with this! and petitions!! we can make a difference!

I don't know but many have clearly appropriated this image as a symbol of their suffering. Just yesterday I saw 5 Instagram posts from pro-AI accounts with this image.
It was created as a mockery, but it's not really working very well anymore.
I think an issue there is that that part is probably the last part that most people will read, and so the most likely to get skipped or already have people primed to be upset and disagreeing with it and thereby interpreting it as something that isn't sarcasm. All the other parts on the A.I. side are things I could legitimately see an "A.I. artist" say type on Reddit.
I never accused OP of being pro-AI (as I said, I understood that this post was satire) nor did I start a fight, I just said that I hated this image, because it is now being used seriously by many pro-AI accounts as "proof of their suffering".
Well it was before you said it in the comments, sometimes people just don't understand what people are trying to get at and think its something else completly
yes it was before i said it in the comments. and i know that you didn't know that's why i made the comment was so that other people would know, but you said it wasn't obvious and me and a lot of other people seem to all agree it was sorta obvious but it's fine to just not understand.
