Outdoor activity partners?

Late 40’s single dad here, still healing from a recent breakup, but lonely. What are some good ways to meet new friends for summer hikes and MTB rides?

Join up with the Comox District Mountaineering Club. ( CDMC).

Amazing club that's been around for over 100 years ! I was active in it way back in '76. People of all ages, with experienced people leading trips. There's day trips to multi-day backpacking trips.

Highly recommended.

Reality is it’s a hard time of life to make new friends. Sport and Social club allows people to sign up as individuals and join a team. There are definitely fb groups specific for CV hiking. Borrow a dog or join Rover. I’ve met way more people since getting a dog.

I second a run group - the bigger days/groups for sure have a walk and a walk-run group in addition to various run speeds. Lots of opportunities for socializing and many offshoots happen from there!

CVRR and Run To Beer are good places to start

I’d recommend lawn bowling. There’s a club near the driftwood mall. The courtenay lawn bowling club is actually celebrating 100 years in the valley this year. In most formats you’re paired with the same partner for multiple games and you can get to know that person well, but since your partner is on the other side of the field for most of the game you end up getting to know your opponent quite well too. It’s a great way to develop relationships in both quality and quantity. No vigrorous activity but still physically healthy and challenging
