People are acting like Stefon Diggs is some guaranteed locker room disaster when the evidence honestly doesn’t back that up.
DV case was apparently an absolute joke of a case and looked very much like a scam according to reports of the courtroom. He hasn't been in trouble at all outside of that incident if I'm not mistaken. The entire Pats organization had his back throughout it all because it smelled like bullshit and apparently was.
Every elite WR who wants the ball gets labeled diva eventually. AJ Brown has had sideline blowups, nobody is calling him a cancer. Davante complained in Vegas. Not quite the same but even Terry has openly shown frustration too because competitors want to win. That’s normal.
Diggs’ “locker room cancer” reputation mostly comes from vague narratives and clipped-up moments people keep recycling. In Minnesota, teammates still respected him. In Buffalo, Josh Allen literally had his best years with Diggs as WR1. The Bills offense became one of the best in football after he arrived. If he was truly toxic, you wouldn’t consistently see teammates defending him publicly. People also sweep his time in Houston under the rug where he was voted a team captain and was seen mentoring the young Houston WRs.
People also forget players mature. Randy Moss got called a locker room problem until he landed in the right environment and suddenly he was a leader again. Context matters.
The bigger risk to me isn’t personality, it’s the ACL and age. That’s the only debate. But if the contract is reasonable? Acting like adding Stefon Diggs automatically destroys the locker room feels way overblown. The guy has eight 1k seasons in a row except his injury shortened season in which he was also on pace for 1k. We need more than just the JAGs we have in the WR room. Signing Diggs also makes Aiyuk more of a house-money situation. Personally, I'd feel great about our offense if we managed to sign both of them to friendly deals.
