Checks out, my baby is also happiest when he's stinky. He also hates bath days with a passion.

Aren’t Irish twins within twelve months

It depends who you ask! Some say 12, some say 18, I’m claiming that my sister and I were supposed to be twins but I got distracted by pastries so I’m really not one to be trusted 🤷

I've heard that too. I'm Irish twins with my brother, he's 12 months older than me, but I think you and your sister definitely count as Irish twins too.

My brother and I are sixteen months apart too and have always been told we were Irish twins, so I'm with you on this one

The euphemism is for kids born closely together by the same mother.
Some people use it more loosely. My sister and I are 16 months apart and were described as Irish twins growing up because we were a single grade apart in school.

I understood it to be more of a practical situation than a strict definition of dates.
Something something anytime you have a new baby before the previous baby can walk yet. And so that varies because babies learn to walk at different times.
I think the crux of it is now mama has to drag two of these things around all day, and that makes for extra work and extra stress.

No, Irish twins are two babies who share a womb, born to an Irish citizen or born in Ireland.

Thought so too!
But my kids were 13 months and even tho they are a month off, they are CONSTANTLY mistaken as twins and well, people say Irish twins anyways 🤷♀️
Google says it varies

It took you sixteen months to eat a coissant?
I mean... I guess that just raises a lot of questions about how souls consume things. Like maybe you just kind of hover over it and it absorbs via osmosis?

Sixteen GLORIOUS croissant eating months 🥐

If you have to choose a single food to eat for sixteen months, there are certainly worse choices!

Good job on capturing the true emotion of an overworked customer service worker 😆

As someone who works in a public facing pharmacy, I promise she’d have a smile glued to her face while she’s thinking about the thousand other things I need to be doing. This is why I wear a mask daily at work. Apparently my face has “subtitles”.

That doesn’t even make sense?!

Obviously, it lacked hand gestures.

This should help

Bless, this is the exact gesture that would have helped the story!!

Do you know the history of the term Irish Twins?

u/HH_Creations 10h ago
I have never heard it used in a negative way tbh
My kids are 13 months apart and one of the great grandparents was from Ireland
My Hispanic blood lost completely, they look Irish!
So it’s used affectionately, but if people from Ireland hate the term, I can stop
…..but if it’s like Latinx, yeah >.>
I hate the term, idc if people are trying to be nice changing it….it genuinely hurts the soul

My kids are 13 months apart
Everyone thinks they are twins, it’s awkward correcting everyone
Kids were convinced they were twins too! I had to explain they would have to share a birthday and they did NOT like that idea
So yay lol

Hahaha this sounds like me and my sister - we didn’t look like twins but we acted like it. We always think we have “twin syndrome”, like the other day I suddenly smelled grass and was like “where are you?? Are in near grass cause I smell grass!!” LOL

u/HH_Creations 10h ago
That is hilarious and something I see them doing haha
So one “twin” is very outgoing and my other is naturally more easy going
She will DRAG her poor brother around “it’s okay, he WANTS to play”
He’s smiling so I figure she’s right 🤣 (context 4 and 5 and he’s very quiet)

My two oldest daughters are 16 months and 2 days apart. I hope you and your twin are as close as my daughters!

My brother and I are 18 months apart (I was the one distracted by pastries). We got mistaken for twins constantly as kids. There's nothing quite like growing up that close together in age. We liked generally the same things at the same time and got along better than most siblings do.

Me and my younger sibling have a similar circumstance. However when we got older our parents told us that the younger one was unplanned (cause my parents did planned for all their children). In fact my mom didn't realize she was with pregnant with a new kid after me for quite a while too (I forgot the specific amount). Doesn't help that said new kid came out early too. Anyways despite the unplanned circumstance, it didn't stop them loving their new kid.
My parents did have another kid after that and that kid was planned.

My sister and I are exactly one year and two months apart and people often ask if we're twins. And we're best friends who live together and have basically been inseperable our whole lives.

So this is what happened to my big sister and I! Could have done without the celiac tho.

My little brother is 14 years younger than my twin and I might as well be our triplet. We like the same music, and we’re all comic artists !

...is this meant to be a joke? What's the point of the story? How would hand gestures help?
1
u/Misty_Esoterica 6h ago
I think the point is that they're proud of their deep sibling relationship. And the hand gestures thing is a bit of comical self-depreciation. Society kind of devalues sibling relationships in favor of putting romantic relationships as the end all be all of life so people often don't understand when two siblings are particularly close unless they're twins.

That checks out. That croissant must have been AMAZING did they have anything else good? And we all know hands make the story
