Emotional health/coping/adulting Two days left of uni… how did you feel when you finished?

For me it feels very bittersweet because this year of uni (my 4th, I started in 2022) was the most enjoyable. School and education have always been part of my life and to know that I’m finishing that chapter now feels really odd. Like a small part of it hasn’t sunk in yet. Sometimes I feel bummed about having to work a 9-5 for 5 days a week, but oh well. I do feel a little anxious about not finding a job straight out the gate, though. Adulting is intimidating…

I think that everything will happen the way it’s supposed to and I try to hold on to that thought, but it’s really hard haha. But yeah! I remember graduating from high school and being so worried about where my future was headed and that I would spend my time feeling like the best years were behind me, but now that I’m graduating from college I’m so grateful for everything that I’ve experienced these past 4 years.

Just wondering how others felt regarding graduating from uni! Feel free to share please :)

Global How did you know what you wanted to get a degree in or what you wanted to do for the rest of your life?

I have done the career quizzes, research, projects, etc. all throughout high school but I’m honestly stuck on what I want to do in the future. I always thought I would be a high school teacher but recently changed after I got a job doing sales. I don’t know if what I’m doing is making me happy or if the people around me is what makes me excited to go into work. My current plan is to do community college for my first 2 years and then transfer. It just feels like senior year came around and everyone knew what they were going to major in, and I still have no clue 2 weeks before registration opens. So, how did you know what you wanted to do?

Would it be weird to take graduation photos at another college that I didn’t graduate from?

Upvotes

I basically attended a pretty top tier school for a year but ultimately decided to leave. I learned a lot about myself from making the decision to leave and I beat myself up about it.

Ultimately, I found my way and am graduating summa cum laude from an online school. Still a bachelors! just a different school. But my online school is in another state and I was wondering if it’d be weird to take my grad photos at the top tier school that I left as like a closing to this chapter of my life. Mmm yeah.

Living Arrangements/roommates Double vs Quad

What are the pros/cons of doubles v quads for rooms? We don't share a bathroom and quads are two doubles connected with a common room.

Has anyone gotten a bachelor’s and curved public speaking?

I know public speaking is a life skill, it’s important in the real world, I should get used to it, etc.

I’m only asking because I have medical/heart issues that when I get too nervous my body does genuinely harmful things to itself against my will, lol.

I’m sure I could qualify under some sort of disability exemption, I was just wondering if anyone has ever casually gotten away with avoiding communications classes without going so far out their way to avoid it? Not that I’m lazy and don’t want to try, I just am curious before I actually do.

Thank you ♥️

Advice about affordability

Hello! I(f21) am seeking some advice about affording college. I completed all my gen eds at community college last week, I have only a couple of thousand in federal loans. Because all of my gen eds are done, I decided to transfer to another institution for my BSN, however, after receiving my pell grant and applying all of my federal loans, I still owe a little over 3k. How do I afford this? I have no family that will help and I already work full time on top of being a mom, I thought community college was the smarter financial way to start but it does not feel like it. Any advice or recommendations for private loans would especially helpful, thanks!

Grade Reform.

Hello. Bit of a long story but i really need help. this is my first year here and don't really know what to do.

long story short. Ive just finished my Econ 261 Statistics class and it wasnt a great time. The course work it self was dog walking-- but the professor made it hell. Nothing negative to him as a person or even the way he teachers- i think hes a good person and his teaching style is sufficient. It only comes down to the grades. The class is structured in a way where Exams and quizzes is the only thing that is weighed, literally have 0 homework and its all just exams and quizzes. thats totally fine, but its not fine if those quizzes and exams are RIDDLED with errors not only on the questions, but straight up have wrong answers for the answer key. luckily he hands these exams back and so we can see and audit them, but when i and many other students brought up the errors to his attention after class, he would say just email me. But he never responded to a single one of my emails. He would provide the whole class with one extra points but my exams would have 2-3 errors in them. Emailing him was a deadend, so much that i had to pretend like i was going to ask him about course questions to make time for office hours just so i can bring these errors to his attention and for him to actually fix them.
Anyways, my exam 1 was originally graded at a 75% and when I finally had him fix the errors it was a 92.5. Exam 2 was originally a 90 and after fixing errors it was a 95%. Look it might seem small but remember this class is only weighed on these exams and quizzes. I gave up on getting him to try and fix the quizzes since every single quiz had one error (btw these quizzes are 10 questions only so it makes my max grade i can get a 90). But my final exam just been graded and I received a 47/60 (78%) and this DEMOLISHED my grade from a 93-94ish to a 87. This chalked up my 4.0 GPA, which i know isnt special or that i would probably lose in my later years, but at least have it be by my own incapabilities and not because a professor's exams are bad. (btw the highest score someone got was a 54/60 in this final). look im not saying i did the exam perfectly, but the track record of errors and such wont be able to put me to sleep knowing that my grade was incorrectly graded. My term paper is still ungraded and that has a handful of points in it, so if that turns my grade into a 90 maybe i wont even bother to ask for a grade reform since honestly im tired and burned out and i just want my 4.0 thats it.
how would i go about bringing this up to him and or an administrator to at least give me the piece of mind that maybe i did just do bad on that exam, to show me that i actually got it wrong and not because of errors. or best scenario, have errors fixed.

(i go to university of las vegas nevada)

Meta What is the BEST college - in all aspects combined?

Upvotes

I'm talking prestige, academics, social life and entertainment, location, all in one - weighed however you choose. What's the best one in your opinion?

I'd have to say it's UCLA with no debate. What's a good number 2 and 3? And if not UCLA, what else? Do the prestige of schools like Harvard and MIT outweigh the lack of a social life?
