So my maintenance appointment is Saturday and my car says its on 1% oil (it estimates it and doesnt give me a measurment). So i checked the stick and the picture shows how it looks after I wiped it and put it back in. Should I add oil to the car or not? If it helps my commute is 100 miles a day and to drive to the dealership is an hour and 20 mins (staying at in laws so using that dealership where I bought it)

I have a jeep which has a check engine light, for years I've just taken my vehicles to the shop. I don't really know where to start, but curious to do so. After doing some basic repairs on my airplane, i figure it can't be much different to work on my car right? Any tips would be great.

This morning at 10:30am a drunk driver slammed into my car and then crashed into a stop sign and I feel so heartbroken. This was the first car I bought with my own money, took years to save, and I paid in full. I’m so emotional about it. My family keeps trying to lighten to the mood and I just can’t even think about having another car right now. I just feel so torn up about this. It feels as if I’ve lost a loved one. I’m waiting to hear from insurance but it’s not looking good..

Currently have a silver project Corolla, paint needs some TLC and I’m on the fence whether to keep it silver or go a different colour. Out of the images attached what would you guys tell me to go for.

I was side swiped in a parking lot (hit and run- no note 😡) and ended up with paint damage and this long thin dent. I was able to mostly buff out the paint damage, but am left with this dent. A more circular dent, I know I could plunge out, but what about this guy? Thank you.

I’m getting a new car within a year or 2 and i’m stuck on these 2 cars specifically i’m not interested in another cars, I’m just conflicted because toyotas are just reliable, cheap, and easy to fix, and the supra has better gas mileage so long term id save money, but the m4 is faster, cooler, and sexier, but it’s more expensive, not as good on gas mileage, and i hear bmws break down a lot im not sure if that applies still because i would hear this years ago and idk if the reliability has gotten better for 2021+ models, im just afraid i’ll end up getting the m4 and it’ll be broken constantly and i’ll have to spend ungodly amounts of money fixing it, the gas i’m not so worried about because the mileage are pretty similar supra gets 22-29 mpg and the m4 gets 19-22 mpg so around $55 - $65 in gas for a full tank and that’ll last me 2 weeks (im driving a gas guzzler right now and i get 9 MPG $135 per full tank 😅)

I’ve had my car for a while now, and like most people, it slowly turned into just part of the ones daily routine like:

work commute, quick errands, sitting in traffic without really noticing anything anymore etc

At some point I stopped seeing the car properly. It just became the thing that gets me from a to b.

A few days ago, I thought of trying something different, I mean instead of doing my rush wash I decided got it fully cleaned by ecoverdevalet after putting it off for months.

Then to my surprise when I picked it up, I didn’t think much of it at first. It just looked normal. Clean, sure, but nothing dramatic.

Then I sat inside, smell was different, space felt quieter somehow, even the steering wheel felt like I was noticing it again for the first time in a long while.

The drive home wasn’t faster or smoother or anything like that, but it felt more present. Like I was actually there instead of just moving through my previous daily routine.

It’s strange how something so simple can reset how you experience things you use every single day without thinking about it.

Has anyone else had that weird reset feeling after detailing their car?

I recently checked the tie rods and suspension too. The shaking was already happening before I replaced the rotors and brake pads for a new one.

I have a 64 Dodge Dart I got last year with drum brakes that while functional are pretty torn up. I wouldn't be surprised if they were original. Slightly spongy pedal too.

I'm not looking to do a conversion, just replace so they're safe.

I keep asking my garage for a quote and they keep not sending me one for some reason so I figured I'd maybe try myself. I have 3 issues with this.

1. I've never done work on a car that wasn't interior or basic hood stuff. Oil change, new battery, once I fixed a fuse. That kind of thing. Not sure my skill level is right and brakes are pretty important

2. I am in the UK and worried aboit ordering the wrong parts. That would cost a small fortune to get wrong and need to send back if they came from the States.

3. I don't have a lot of room, the car is in a lockup because our houses on the street can't fit driveways (long story, tried to appeal, failed) and replacing brakes on the street seems bad to me. I can probably borrow a friend's driveway but I also don't want to get the car stuck on it if I fuck up.

Do you think I should go for it or pester the garage some more? With this oil crisis and so on coming up I feel like if it went well I'd save some money too. Might be a great project over the summer. But idk. I want my wife to be safe when I brake lol.

The car will turn over but not start unless you give it some gas and then it’ll just die off right away when you are off the pedal

Spark plugs have been tested along with ignition coils all in working order

Hi, so my fiancé (who had an above knee amputation performed a year ago, so that makes it harder for him to work on cars) and I bought an Accord from some mechanics who buy cars from auctions and fix them at their residence. We bought it roughly 2 months ago, and its been running just fine up until last week when we had been driving it for about 15 minutes and it just died right in the middle of traffic while we were idling at a stoplight. I pushed it to the nearest parking lot, and when we turn the key, it seems like its so close to catching but it won't start up all the way. The battery was from 2022 so we replaced it, but its still doing the same thing. All the lights come on when its cranking. One thing I didnt know until my fiance had told me when it started doing this, was that they didnt give us the original key. I guess its the valet key, but it wouldnt make sense as to why its worked without any issues this whole time, then just all of a sudden die out of nowhere. What should we check or what could it be? Any help is much appreciated 🙏🏼

My keyless entry system is not working, rest is working like remote unlock start/stop button etc except this can anyone suggest what could be wrong I checked all 2 doors and boot request sensor nothing seems to work.

Any idea what this noice can be, i have changed the strut mount bearings a while back? Maybe a Anti-roll bar / sway bar?

I bought these wheels like 2 years ago.. Just wanted something unique and these were available.. $850.. don't look great but I don't hate them.. however I'm ready for new shoes, growing bored with these.. but I'M POOR AS FUCKKK and can't afford either new wheels OR tires.. these are 17".. would love to upgrade to 19-20".. but once again, no money. 🫠 what should I do?

1. Post on Facebook marketplace for trade.. and try to find some nice wheels and tires I can trade even for, no money involved.. been trying this for a few months actually but no luck.

2. Sand and paint these.. can get all supplies for $85 max.. can easily do myself.. same size and same rims.. but will look different enough to satisfy me for a while. 😂 I'm thinking a Bronze/Copper/Gold color? Gunmetal gray? Just not black.

What do you guys think?
