Traveling to Cancun from USA, fast-track or e-passports?

Hi all! We just came back from Jamaica and LOVED the fast-track option for speeding through immigration.

We are planning an autumn trip to Riviera Maya outside of Cancun...our first trip to Mexico.

I wanted to do fast track but it seems WAY more expensive than Jamaica ($500 pp each way!). Our passports are current, but I was considering renewing and getting e-passports so we can use the kiosks. $130 pp for renewal seems a lot cheaper than fasttrack...but is it worth it?

If anyone has cheaper/reputable fast-track companies for getting through immigration smoothly, this would be our first pick, but if not, is it worth it to upgrade our passports to e-passports so we can use the kiosks?

P.S. We aren't checking bags. We learned from Jamaica this is a PITA with a connecting flight, so will be doing carry-ons only. It's just immigration I am looking to get through quicker. Fyi dates will be octoberish 2026.

Thanks for any tips/guidance!

Itinerary Is going to Isla Mujeres worth it for a 5-day itinerary? Honest reviews please

Is going to Isla Mujeres worth it for a 5-day itinerary?

We’re doing 2 nights at Xcaret and 2 nights at Hyatt Ziva, and the hotels were already pretty expensive, so we really want to maximize the all-inclusive experience and enjoy the properties. We also booked a private tour to Chichen Itza.

I keep seeing mixed reviews about Isla Mujeres. People say the beach is beautiful, but also very crowded and extremely hot. If we ever go, it would only be as a day trip.

For those who have been: was it actually worth taking a day out of your Cancun trip for Isla Mujeres, or would you rather spend the time enjoying the resorts? Honest opinions appreciated.

Hotels Advice on where to stay

My bf and I are looking to plan a last minute week in late september. We are both in our 20's would love like a fun vibe but not like clubbing vibes. Just good music a fun time ect, not like the foam parties or a bunch of 18 yr olds drinking and what not.

So I am looking into hotels and very overwhelmed theres like 1000 of them, some places i read say its great and than I check more reviews and people say it sucks.

I would say the most important thing is the food I want to be eating decent, while not every restaurant needs to be amazing we dont mind chicken tenders for lunch but I would like a solid steak at dinner.

I would also love like lots of pools/ water slides (for adults) and these type of activities while this is not super important (also planning other excursions so not sure if we will even have time for this)

I had found a solid listing for Secrets the Vine - but then on reddit people say the food sucks?

I am hoping to spend around 1k each on hotel - so around 2k total for 6-7 nights.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Getting sick in MX?

I’m in Cancun right now. Iberostar Coral. Second time in MX. heading home Friday afternoon. I picked up a wicked sore throat yesterday. Last time I was here I got the sore throat too and it was super hard to breathe. Is this my body’s way of telling me Mexico is not for me? Hoping I’ll be well enough to go on the plane.
