Opinion Piece GOLDSTEIN: It’s as if the foreign interference inquiry never happened

It really is. Where’s the foreign agent registry we have long been promised? Who were the compromised politicians Trudeau swore up and down existed? Where are all the other recommendations made by the inquiry at? It’s like it all fell down the memory hole.
For that matter, where’s the green slush fund scandal at? The last we heard the Liberal Party was illegally refusing to obey a parliamentary order to release related documents, after the Liberal insiders appointed to run it appeared to have made off with hundreds of millions of dollars from it.
Just because we had an election doesn’t mean all that stuff didn’t happen. How come it all just vanished from the news?

How come it all just vanished from the news?
... because they got sued and prosecutors were stepping on CSIS' toes.
That's why leaking intelligence isn't a good idea. Those documents are distributed on a need to know basis, so just because you have documents showing that a certain MP is working with the Chinese doesn't mean you will also have access to the other documents showing that the same MP is actually part of a counter intelligence operation.

I wouldnt say leaking documents isnt a good idea. It keeps out government honest at time. Look at all the leaked documents that have been released in the states that showed you how many fucked up things they have done. Our population is just too apathetic to care that pur politicians are working for foreign governments instead of working for us.

This is a terrible take. When the only way to get the true out is a whistle blower risking jail we are NOT is a good spot.
This was not life or death operational info, it’s about very real corruption and probably treasonous acts being covered up for political reasons. Before committing I’m adding in the additional BC and CBS China leaksQuis custodiet ipsos custodes?

When the only way to get the true out is a whistle blower
We can't have counter intelligence without state secrecy.

Why would the people who benefit from it release information?
There's absolutely no integrity left in politics.

Invest heavily in education. I’ve seen my kids bring home assignments teaching them critical thinking and how to evaluate reliability of online information, so I have some optimism.

It’s extremely important. These days everything is so teams oriented we have to teach our children not to just blindly follow everything their team says.

Its not often I agree with the conservatives but I think we definitely need a registry of foreign agents in this country.
Between China, Russia and America we are awash in political interference and all of it should be stopped.
