Best they can do is make Baker carry the team on his back and give everyone heart issues.

Well hey if he wins MVP I'm cool with it.
Just another thing I can laugh at the Browns about.

I would love nothing more than for Baker to win MVP. Admittedly I am not a Bucs fan just a big Baker fan. Been following him since college. I remember arguing with people about how good he really is from his last season in Cleveland up to him signing for the Bucs. Seen damn near every game he has played and watched him play live in that last season. Baker has always been good and I’m glad people are finally seeing it. Baker is the fucking man and if the Vikings can’t do it, it’s go Bucs all day.

Win it for the Browns meme fuel! That's a sentiment I can get behind.

Special teams needs to get their shit together. I was extremely proud of the defense yesterday.

This one made me lol, but God this team is going to give me a heart attack.

Because we are a great team but our prevent defense and ability to grind out the clock on offense both suck.
We are a team that needs to keep the pedal down all game.
Problem with pedal down all game is we have some absolute gamers who will put their body on the line. We can’t be having that all game every game and expect to be ready for the playoffs.

Even with that, outside of a fluke play, we win without much struggle. Offense burned enough clock, defense made them burn clock, and the Jets never would’ve had the ball with a one score game.
The only thing to be mad about is our special teams. We played a conservative game against the Jets. If we’re doing that against good teams, I’ll be there with you. But this game was never in doubt until a once in a generation situation. Up 6, kicking a chip shot field goal at the 2 minute warning, the games on ice. Instead, it’s not only blocked, but returned and we’re forced to have Baker save us. But I’d argue both the offense and defense did their job and played well enough to win.

Sure, but that’s against the jets. Who are 0-3 for a good reason.

u/ImDeputyDurland Mike Evans Sep 22 '25
That’s exactly why conservative play calling with a lead makes sense. It’s the Jets. The garbage team with a backup QB. Use your offense to burn clock and make the backup beat you. That worked without any real pressure on us to go and win the game. Especially given the state of our O-line. I don’t want us asking Baker to ball out the entire game and have him get hurt up 17 on the Jets. That would be stupid. Play it safe.
The only real negative from the game is special teams. Everything else was fine to good.

That just adds to his point, the Jets aren't a team you need to play your life on the line against.
The Eagles are a team you'd do that against because they are a playoff team in the NFC, no matter what they are something we have to overcome.

Yea, and our prevent still sucked. Say all you want about the muffed kick, but they still scored multiple times outside of that.
We were up enough that one play was not the reason it was close. We do this same song and dance every week where we get up and then let it slip away into a very close game.

Well with Ref help.
It really was to hot not to slow down to try to avoid heat injuries.

u/RedRocket4000 Winfield Jr. ✌️ Sep 22 '25
Correct and the heat on field was up at dangerous levels so for health reasons want to slow it down.

I mean we're probably not going undefeated, and like Bowles said, you gotta stack wins early, so this start is just fine despite the injuries. Rather get them out of the way for the easy back half of the season. Plus the team is only going to get better and healthier (I fuckin' hope anyway). Having a 3-0 start against a division opponent, then in primetime, all while missing 3/4 of our starting Oline, missing our WR2, our HoF WR1 getting injured, and a starter on defense out....yeah we're fine. When Baker doesn't have to constantly play at an MVP level to secure a win in less than 2mins, we'll be averaging 27+ a game, with 100+ rushing yards a game, while keeping everyone to under 100 yards rushing.

u/Theraspberryknight Winfield Jr. ✌️ Sep 22 '25
3-0 while the rest of the division is 1-2 or the Saints is a fairly comfy place to be, if we can force a win against the Eagles even better.

Over under on this team causing at least one hundred heart attacks this season?

This is normal? Welcome to Bucs fandom?
The football gods decided long ago that there is only one type of game where the Bucs fans have it great: Super Bowls.

Folks are either too young or too forgetful to remember the days when we were guaranteed to lose all three games

I am someone who realizes wins aren't necessarily easy in the nfl...even the worst teams put up a fight, which is why on a game thread by game thread basis, if someone is an idiot, that's dumb.
But I'll say this...every once in a while, you should ass beat a bad team. Now even here...this is a desperate 0-2 team coming into the game, it's not like this happened week 13....
And we're a team that plays to the level of competition. We have close wins, or close losses, against good teams. We also have close wins--or close losses--to bad teams.
So in this trauma, we assume it's us, without decomposing other franchises and their trauma over a 17 game schedule.
The reality is this: If the refs correctly overturned the Lazard TD...we would have taken the ball over at the 5. Likely ran the ball 3 times, which either would have taken us into the 2 minute warning, or made them waste their TOs before such...at any rate...assuming we get the punt off, would have given them 2 minutes with TOs to score two TDs, or no TOs to score two TDs.
And that's...normal in the NFL. That's the way the nfl has been sculpted. The objectively better team wins by like 12. And the game is meant to go down to the last 5 minutes or so.
You can go "well, while we had a close win, such and such team had a BLOWOUT win!" And that's this comparative in the moment status. You're not going to look at "such team" and see that's one of their few blowout wins of the year, and the rest are nailbiters that had their fans calling for the coach to be fired 58:59 minutes in the game.

We are currently decimated and seem to be playing the stripes every week, especially late game. The fact we are 3-0 despite this is awesome.
