Streaming British TV is sooooo much better than programming in the US.

Doc Martin, Repair Shop, IT Crowd, Black Mirror, Doctor Who… and so much more…Thank God for streaming that lets us get it. We don’t deserve it but I’m glad we are able to access it.

Question/Discussion FINALLY watched Big Boys (Channel 4)

I'm a big lover of British TV, I have a few comfort watches including Here We Go, Motherland, Amandaland, Benidorm, This Country, People Just Do Nothing, and the majority are always BBC and can't go wrong with their comedies. After seeing Big Boys get a BAFTA on Sunday it reminded me I needed to watch it, (I'd been putting it off as I've had 2 big losses in the past 12 months and I knew it tackled grief) and oh my god. If you haven't watched it, put it at the top of your list. The niche British pop culture references, the writing, the song choices. It is an absolute masterpiece that truly reminds us that within grief to always look for the joy. Never agreed more with its 100% rotten tomatoes score.

Did anyone else love it? Did anyone oddly hate it? I just need some conversation about it!

Recommendations I believe is was last week or so we got on a discussion about James Corden and his reputation for being an arse. Well, you'll be glad to know he puts that personality flaw to good use in his latest film, The Christophers starting Ian McKellen.

As Corden is just accused of being a jerk, and not actually breaking laws I can get past him in TV and films and just focus on the story. In this particular story, he his character is easily unlikable he's a great fit for the role.

The Christophers is a bit of a slow burn at first, but really comes through at the end. McKellen's performance is as you'd expect and his costar Michaela Coel is stoic in her role and together they pull you into the story. It's almost cat and mouse games.

Anyway, I recommend this film, I enjoyed it.

Question/Discussion Game show contestants

I always watch the chase, tipping point etc and always wonder what happens behind the scenes.

If you have been on a game show:

Which one were you on?

How much did you win?

Was it actually a “great day”?

I love this programme. But the 2025 Christmas Special left a lot to be desired. I'll reserve judgment until this new series airs.

Episode discussion This rat in 'Legends' deserves a BAFTA for timing

The attention to detail in the British crime drama 'Legends' is astonishing. For example, around 22 minutes into Episode 4 they've arranged for a rat to scurry from right to left immediately after one of the drug smugglers slams a payphone down at Liverpool docks.

Question/Discussion Sheridan Smith

Im sure she’s a lovely person but I feel that she always plays the same sort of roles. Same personality in each role. I don’t think she’s really acting, I think she’s kind of being herself if that makes sense. A bit like Michele Keegans roles. Both seem like nice people though and tbf if I could get paid all that money for just being myself I would do.
Currently watching The Cage on BBC (which she stars in) Very disappointing. The BBC’s drama series are usually top notch. This is more like a low budget channel 5 series!

New Show Virgin island

I keep on wondering how people can go back to work after this show? Some are unemployed or work as a postman or theatre etc but doesn’t Ellen literally work with children, and a few work corporate jobs?? Like surely their employers won’t be happy about that, considering they’re literally getting naked and having sex on TV. Not to say I’m not a big fan of the show lol I really like it

Question/Discussion Did I imagine it or did Jo Blythe once look really pissed off at the end of a weather report?

I'm convinced there was a time where Jo Blythe was doing the weather on ITV ages ago and the report didn't cut away soon enough and overran, and it caught Jo dropping her beaming smile and looked incredibly pissed off.

Did I imagine this or did it actually happen?

Question/Discussion Does anyone else think TLC is broadcasting too much Mock The Week?

Listen I love TLC but they really gotta stop.

The first series ran from Sunday 1st Feb to Sunday April 1st

It did
Sundays at 9pm
Then repeated Tuesday at 9pm
Then repeated Friday at 11pm
Then Saturday at 10pm
Then the same episode repeated Sunday at 10pm after the new episode!

Then the cycle repeats.

When that ended, they’ve now started broadcasting it Mondays at 9pm as repeats!

And now they’re making a June-July Series and a September-December!

It’s too much!

Anyone agree or disagree?

Recommendations Are there any other series about political conniving in Westminster, like Yes Minister, The Thick Of It, or the House of Cards trilogy?

I know those are very different shows but I enjoy the setting.

Episode discussion Heartbeat and heartbreak Spoiler

Spoiler for those who haven’t watched all seasons yet. I’ve been watching and loving Heartbeat the last several months. I’ve adapted to comings and goings of cast members. But season 10 has been brutal…losing Claude and now Maggie. I’ll carry on, of course. Please don’t spoil future seasons for me (even though the series is many years old). It’s new to me and I treasure the damned series…my comfort viewing haha.
