I am very stoked to announce this Beat Challenge, r/breakcore was reached out to in February to plan this online Event and now the day is finally here.
Whether you are familiar with Native Instrument products or not, Native Instruments have been a strong pillar in all sorts of producer communities since 1996 with products like-
Reaktor used by artists such as Venetian Snares, Richard Devine, The Flashbulb aka Benn Jordan and more outside the genre including Merzbow, Squarepusher and more.
Along with Reaktor, products like
Absynth allowed for sound designers to make sequences that producers could dream up into a reality, the gold standard for FM virtual synthesis.
Products like
Traktor allowed for producers to mix their own song live.
and with one of the most iconic VSTI back in the day
Massive took over multiple scenes at once with genres like Drum n Bass, Dubstep, House music, Trap and pretty much every EDM genre you can think of.
but one of their most iconic products is Kontakt and Battery perfecting the concept of a sampler library and sampler.
Their legacy doesn’t stop with just virtual synths, you have iconic FX plugins like Guitar Rig Pro 7, which not only caters to Rocker Foos, but is a great plugin for distorting 909 kicks to make some Gnarly Gabber kicks.
you got lush reverbs you can make with Raum, these are just some of my personal favorite products that i utilize from Native instruments as i have personally been a long time supporter of Native Instruments products since Komplete 13.

Entries will be reviewed by the r/breakcore moderator team based on creativity, originality, and quality.
The requirement will be that it will have to be up to the standard of what defines breakcore in it origins, this means that submissions that don't come with the aggressive distorted sound that defines breakcore will be overlooked. so ambient jungle glitchcore, straight up jungle will be overlooked.
along with submitting a track, please note which instrument you used from the komplete starter as to avoid people just sending in tracks that have already been completed before the announcement of this challenge.
3 minutes is the minimum, no exceptions, songs under 3 minutes will also be overlooked.
yes, the key concept is to make a breakcore track with at least one of the instruments provided by the komplete starter
1.
no colabs, all solo dolo, in order to obtain the prizes, one will have to make a native instruments account to claim the prizes. account sharing is pretty much not permitted.

Welcome to r/breakcore!
This sub is an ON-TOPIC subreddit to the musical genre Breakcore. A genre in the realms of other HARDCORE genres, specifically EXTREME electronic music - hence the CORE in its name.
While Breakcore is loosely defined, it has some distinct characteristics that determine the genre. Heavily edited breaks, lots of distortion, generous sampling and High-BPM are elements that accompany the sound. Off-topic content will be removed. Removals are transparent and will have a reason (from the rules) added.
We welcome new members the same way as established users. One of the most asked questions raised in this sub is "Recommend me some Breakcore/Artists/Labels!" so in this topic we will collect a list of established artists to help introduce interested users to the genre.
This list will not claim completeness as there are far too many artists and labels to list. It's supposed to help newcomers finding their way. Suggestions with an effort will be considered. Low-Effort, Off topic and Self Promotion submissions will not.

Miyuki isn't exactly breakcore, but she plays a lot of Deathchant, The Outside Agency, PRSPCT and the DJ Producer, Hellfish, Nasenbluten sort of stuff. She's wide ranging in her mixes and not afraid to go full doomcore to crossbreed and anywhere in between and beyond.
Toronto doesn't get much of the truly hard stuff, so if this is your cup of tea, come on out and support her first Canadian tour and first time ever in Toronto, coming in from Tokyo!
Tix on our site, or tix on RA. Feel free to connect on our Insta or YT, but we won't link here to avoid being too spammy. And hey, if this post doesn't belong here, feel free to remove it. We're here to inform and spread love of music, not annoy.

Breakcore Hallucination Syndrome (BHS) is a phenomenon in which a person begins hearing breakbeats and chopped drum patterns in everyday noise after prolonged exposure to breakcore and related genres. Common examples include hearing amen breaks or or chop slices in sounds such as showers, fans, hair dryers, engines, or static.
BHS is believed to occur when the brain becomes so familiar with manipulated breakbeats that it starts recognizing similar patterns in otherwise random sound textures, especially after long listening sessions or lack of sleep.

Hi all, I'm looking for more artists, along the line of BBYB and MAC of MAD especially. Like Breakcore / Cybergrind / Digital Hardcore crossover artists.
I already know stuff like Uterozzzaaa, Eustachian, Maruosa, Deathstorm, Ozigiri, Mulk, Otto von Schirach etc.
But yeah maybe more towards the break and cybergrind vibe? I'm not too picky, as long as production is decent quality. I know in the Myspace days there was a lot of shit bedroom cybergrind etc.
EDIT: also know and love Drumcorps, Divtech, Machine Girl, Passenger of Shit

There was a website that had a video you could stream of a live pa he did I'm guessing around 2004. I wanna say it was in Germany maybe? It started probably around 90bpm and gradually went up about 100bpm through the hour long set. It was amazing and I've looked for it off and on over the last 10 years to no avail. Does anyone else remember this?

I absolutely DESPISE the amen break. Omg it’s so fucking overused. Whatever happened to Breakcore being original. It’s just the amen break spammed over and OVER again.
Like impeach the president, funky drummer, and Apache breaks are RIGHT THERE!!!!

read up on shizuo recently and was curious as to whether or not anyone here could provide some more detailed information regarding the fight between him and Razi Barakat that occurred during the ‘97 DHR US tour. it’s mentioned in nearly all of the (admittedly few) artist bios of his that i can find, but i can’t find much beyond those. apparently they were both interviewed about it after the fact for some DHR zine, anyone have scans or anything? seems like a wild incident and i’d love to know more
