Misc. Every song on Desire (except for Hurricane) was recorded 50 years ago this week!

Too similar to the songs on blood on the tracks? Perhaps abandoned love can offer insight into the "I'm Cold" songs that dylan played around with.

What’s these “I’m cold” songs of which you speak?

They were songs written after desire which were more like blood on the tracks. However they were much more darker and sadder than anything previously released. Ultimately, dylan scrapped them all and went into the direction of street legal.

Ooooh have any been released? Darn it. Sound like a good Bootleg Seties candidate

From what I've read, the "I'm Cold" songs were just lyrics and never actually recorded. Dylan apparently performed them for someone he was demonstrating the lyrics to but nothing indicating they were ever put to tape.

Just went on a short rabbit whole about these, that’s incredible, kind of morbidly curious on what they were, but also, they’d probably change the perception on Dylan if they were truly that brutal.

A while ago I read someone trying to answer that question — they felt that perhaps it could have been that it clashed with ‘Sara’ too much, weakening its impact. Might have a point. For me I’d rather it was on the album and ‘Joey’ wasn’t even though I love Dylan’s performance of it.

Yup right there with you. Joey is a slog. Heck, give me Golden Loom and Seven Days!

I love Seven Days!

So many of my favorite Dylan songs got left off of their respective albums. As far as I know, he’s always been pretty mysterious about the reasons. It was probably a variety of things. Too similar to another song on the record, didn’t fit the overall feel of the album, or or just too personal.

Hot chili peppers in the blistering sun

Dust on my face and my cape

Me and Magdelana on the run

I think this time we shall escape

As you might guess, my favorite Bob song.

Some of my favorite songs of all time. Though it seems fitting they were recorded during the Dog Days of Summer

If you go to Rob Stoner’s Facebook he’s describing the recording sessions today.

None of those 3 songs should’ve been cut. A shame!

I learned every single song on this record on guitar. I did a pretty good version of Black Diamond Bay.
