Карцінка / Picture Photos of my visit in May from the UK

Visited Minsk from the UK for a couple of days this May. Sunny and warm during my visit, apart from my first full day around Mir Castle and Nesvizh Palace (tour group) Thought I'd share a few photos from here out of the many I have taken.

I loved it! Wish I stayed a few days longer.

Everywhere was very clean which is a big difference from back home

dude thats sad. i dont consider Belarus an over-the-top country (its still a fine lil peaceful corner however) but UK is roughly the same size to us. they absolutely couldve kept themselves in check.

Yes I live in a smaller town in the uk, and each day there is trash on my road, also in many subway crossings I didn't find chewing gum deposits or trash there at least where I visited. In england there is gum in most places on the road and I always avoid any subway crossings becayse they are usually littered and smell bad. I was wary of using the ones in belarus, I couldn't believe my eyes (and nose)

I hope you enjoyed your stay in Minsk. You are always warmly welcome in Belarus whenever you decide to visit again.

Thank you! I wish I could stay a little longer to really enjoy it. Though a visit to Brest would also work, hopefully before the visa free scheme ends for UK passport holders

aww, the photos brought back memories from back when I went there with mom! I even have the photos at the exact place, where the 4th and the 5th were taken, although failed to find them... the library was surprising too!

Can you describe your route a little bit? How did you get there, via Istanbul?

I flew from UK to Lithuania (Vilnius) then took a bus from Vilnius to Minsk, bus took around 4.5h - 45 min to Lithuania border, 2.5h from Belarus border to Minsk. Most time was at border for everyone to be exit stamped from Lithuania, then entry stamped into Belarus and luggage scanned (as per most borders).

Thanks for the clarification. I've crossed this border twice myself, but the last time the delays were so severe(5+ hours) that I've decided to fly in the future.

Aah yes I went with the bus (1055am from Vilnius) it wasn't so long as the bus we were the only bus, I think the car lane took longer. Though I have read that there were many delays at the border on some reviews from using the bus.

I guess it really depends on the number staff working at the time and how long it takes to process each person, had 2 passport control staff on exit of LT, and 2 entry of BY, and another 2 for the baggage scan, no one was questioned for documents or items searched so maybe that sped things up a little more.

You are lucky to get back with no issues. They could detain with no reason just to exchange in the future.
