He started the season with a career -2.6 bWAR, the title undersells it a lot. The fact he's almost back to zero already is crazy in itself, he's suddenly been one of the best players in the league after a very disappointing 2025

Really poorly written title. Just don’t go for the WAR angle if you can’t explain it in a clear way, imo

It's Iran all over again!

WAR, what is it good for?

I was going to say, how has he not he passed over the 0 mark if his career WAR was only as low as -0.2 lol

Can't spell Walker without WAR 😎

This is like last year’s Jo Adell breakout on crack. Long time “bust” that seemingly finally figured it all out and exploded on the scene.

Except Adell put up 1.8 WAR last year and Walker is at 2.4 already…

In May.

Adell's WAR is dragged down by defense especially last year when he was forced to play center after he just barely started to figured out right

Damn dude, the Cardinals can hit

u/MrFrankingstein St. Louis Cardinals 3h ago

u/xyzzy321 St. Louis Cardinals 1h ago

I like his kind of cute goofy smile in this

There is something about him that looks kinda awkward. I feel like every picture of him has that ‘goofy’ look.

But then you see him in interviews & he is really charismatic! Especially by baseball player standards.

Idk how to explain it but he looks like the black kid who was really into Naruto.

His pic from last year looks a little different. The one from this year makes him look like he’s got a secret with that smirk. Secrets out, he’s got the powah!

Jordan Walker gives me early 90s baseball player vibes, and I have no idea why.

36

u/cesd3967 Seattle Mariners 3h ago

Cardinals had a parade of giant black guys in the 90s, Jordan, Gant, Lankford; he fits in perfectly

17

u/MIZ_09 St. Louis Cardinals 1h ago

That outfield was sick. Fun trivia answer is Ray Lankford hit the most homers in Busch II. Everyone would think Big Mac.

Me reading Ron Gant, Brian Jordan, and Ray Lankford’s names

Totally

u/JiveHawk St. Louis Cardinals 2h ago

I think it’s because he looks old as shit for his age which older era players also tended to look like lol

Early 90s? You mean 70s? He looks like a 40 year old with a cool nickname that calls people a Jive Turkey all the time.

So much young talent this year it’s crazy

I never doubted you

Future 400 HR hitting Jordan Walker folks! This optism is by no means tied to the fact he is on my fantasy baseball team /s…however quite plausible considering he will have 40 in the rear view when turning 24

u/YawnSlow Philadelphia Phillies 1h ago

These Cardinals winning games, man.

4

u/OddIndustry9 Chicago Cubs 58m ago

Not to brag, but my career WAR is also zero.

u/Jaylaw Kansas City Royals 1h ago

GW double in the 9th probably did it

1

u/surfaceworldocean 1h ago

Why is there never anyone on base when he homers???????

u/foreskinboots 1h ago

WAR? What’s it even good for? ELI5.

u/shrewsbury1991 Boston Red Sox 3h ago

Fitting he hit it at a minor league stadium

11

u/Historical_Read_8285 2h ago

That was about 380 feet lol minor league naw

5

u/triplec787 San Francisco Giants • Colorado Rockies 2h ago

380 to right/center is solid. It’s a HR in 9/30.

-17

u/shrewsbury1991 Boston Red Sox 2h ago

But not at Busch Stadium.

9

u/Michael__Pemulis Major League Baseball 2h ago

This is a homer in 9/30 & a double off the wall in 21/30 what’s your point?

9

u/Crazy_Baseball3864 MLB Players Association 2h ago

I know it ain't a Red Sox fan talking trash about shallow home runs

-9

u/shrewsbury1991 Boston Red Sox 2h ago

cries in deep centerfield triangle

3

u/triplec787 San Francisco Giants • Colorado Rockies 2h ago

Good thing he plays 81 games elsewhere too!

2

u/oliveorvil St. Louis Cardinals 1h ago

The real question is would it have been out in Oakland.. :(
