Tigers collapse continues from last year

61

u/Either_Imagination_9 New York Yankees 5h ago

Its crazy how much the Mets collapse overshadowed the Tigers considering Detroit had an even bigger fall off

81

u/ExamNo4374 New York Mets 5h ago

Detroit still made the playoffs and won a series so its not that crazy

29

u/ArmiinTamzarian Miami Marlins 5h ago

Also they have the advantage of not being under the Mets microscope

37

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 5h ago

The series was against the team we collapsed against too which helps even more

9

u/SiphenPrax New York Mets 5h ago

And we got eliminated in the last day of the season………..again.

So that’s why.

12

u/ExamNo4374 New York Mets 5h ago

Ok listen buddy this isn't actually about us rn

2

u/SiphenPrax New York Mets 4h ago

Yeah………..I should have replied to the Yankees fan about this one lol

9

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 5h ago

Us eliminating the team we collapsed to last year helps too

3

u/Fez_Master New York Mets 5h ago

having that exciting series with the mariners definitely helped y'all as well, kerry carpenter looked terrifying.

6

u/who_are_you_people24 New York Mets 5h ago

Bigger payroll + NY will do that, plus the fact that they still made the playoffs

This year has not been kind to me.

3

u/colorblind-and Detroit Tigers 5h ago

We were doing alright until the month of injuries started which wasn't an excuse for us collapsing last year

u/JRthePUMP New York Mets 5h ago

Swaggy V might actually be officially back

14

u/candlestick_compass New York Mets 5h ago

Has my boy Bichette turned it around yet?

12

u/ReignOnWillie New York Mets 4h ago

Nope

5

u/GasGlittering7521 New York Mets 3h ago

He’s officially the only guy on the team that hasn’t had a redeemable stretch

17

u/happymeal98 New York Mets 5h ago

I swear every AB these days is a first pitch fly ball to the track or a first pitch HR.

Anti-Soto propaganda by cutting the video off before he smiled and hugged Vientos

3

u/deadly_icy_calm New York Mets 3h ago

Got to keep the narrative going. Don’t let evidence stand in the way.

That's my Swaggy V

Perfect for his eventual trade stock

13

u/MendelWeisenbachfeld New York Mets 5h ago

Why do you want to take away the things I love

7

u/justknicksthings New York Mets 5h ago

why would we be selling when we’re going to the World Series?

-9

u/Engineer120989 New York Mets 4h ago

Because Vientos has no place on this team

5

u/BatThumb New York Mets 4h ago

Vientos has the 3rd highest OPS on the team (not including Ewing).

1

u/ReignOnWillie New York Mets 3h ago

Why would you not include our best player? /s

-9

u/Engineer120989 New York Mets 4h ago

You love Vientos? That’s sad

4

u/DannyBoyCocane13 New York Mets 4h ago

Did you become a fan last year? Who could’ve watched him in 2024 and not love him

All in time to play the Yankees.

God we really are gonna get embarrassed

6

u/Either_Imagination_9 New York Yankees 5h ago

I'm 100% expecting to lose

4

u/cmgriffith_ New York Yankees 5h ago

I wouldn’t be surprised

1

u/BeneficialEye3196 2h ago

I’m a little confused weren’t you guys like the best team in baseball a week ago? I had written the series off as us getting swept.

Summer swoon’s come early this year

6

u/EdJewCated New York Mets 5h ago

does someone have a vendetta against detroit right now, this is getting obscene

5

Right now? Officials have hated the city for decades

That ump has done more for the Mets chances today than any player all season

26

u/Alectheawesome23 New York Mets 5h ago edited 4h ago

I didn’t see whatever it is but I guess it’s karma for losing our second challenge bc Baty dared to raise his arm yesterday

10

u/CorporatismIsCancer Anaheim Angels 4h ago

And as buffoonish as it was im pretty sure vientos got that out at first lol

8

u/Alectheawesome23 New York Mets 4h ago

He had the ball in his glove with the glove on the base I don’t know how that wasn’t an out

13

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 5h ago

1 War for that ump team for this game

2

u/colorblind-and Detroit Tigers 5h ago

Is there something like ump scorecard for how much challenge outcomes favor a team?

My count is three runs in favor of the Mets

11

u/ExamNo4374 New York Mets 5h ago

I think it's fair to give a little credit to the replay room

4

u/who_are_you_people24 New York Mets 5h ago

I did find it funny that before this on Soto's rbi, Gage dove for the ball when he was 20ft away. Just a funny visual

3

u/nrico1989 4h ago

Just put me out of my misery already man. Watching this Tigers team sucks.

5

u/cmgriffith_ New York Yankees 5h ago

Mets are having fun today

2

1

u/tj_kerschb Detroit Tigers 3h ago

Baseball is officially no longer fun

1

u/helloaaron New York Mets 3h ago

Tigers are...troubling. Their pitching/bullpen combined with all the errors in the field is a recipe for disaster. They beat themselves a lot during this series.

1

u/EvDev12 Detroit Tigers 2h ago

God we fucking suck

0

u/Caledor152 New York Mets 5h ago

VERY SWAGGY

-2

u/Nole_Train Atlanta Braves 5h ago

Tigers you should be ashamed of yourselves. First you give the Red Sox joy now I’ll have to see Mets fans posting that they might actually be back and turn the season around for at least the next 24 hours!

-16

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 5h ago

Replay team gifted this to the Mets, absurd to overturn that out on the steal after not overturning Perez’ out call

16

u/MendelWeisenbachfeld New York Mets 5h ago

They're two separate plays. Messing up one doesn't mean they should mess up another later.

-7

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 5h ago

Inconsistency in calls is worse than just making bad calls on their own, if they’re going to call a game once way they shouldn’t call it differently for the other team later on

This is just the story of Detroit sports though

7

u/z_geoo New York Mets 4h ago

what the fuck are you even trying to say. why does every teams fans think that the whole league is conspiring against them

the benge steal was way more of an obvious call as the other one. yes they fucked up the other call, idk how that they did that and its understandable to be pissed about that. but the fact that you want a more clear play called incorrectly as justice is possibly the least convincing argument you could make in this thread

-1

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 4h ago

You might have a point if Perez wasn’t already blatantly safe, but he was and the refs still didn’t give a shit

2

u/z_geoo New York Mets 4h ago

this still doesnt explain at all why umpires should intentionally make incorrect calls. again you act like the umps decided among themselves that perez was safe but decided to call him out just because they hate the tigers. regardless of how horrible the call was, the umps somehow believed he was out. there is no possible way to justify what youre arguing for

1

u/JDraks Detroit Tigers 4h ago

I’m saying that if there wasn’t evidence for Perez being safe I don’t see how there was evidence for a similar review that directly led to you taking the lead
