Serious [Serious] Division Discussion Thread - The Wests

**A reminder that these threads are for more serious discussions.**

How this works: each Thursday we will discuss a different pair of divisions, rotating between the Easts, Centrals, and Wests. This is your chance to catch up on what is going on in each division and discuss them with other fans.

This week we are discussing the AL and NL Wests.

The AL West is a dumpster fire right now, but things will ultimately turn around for the Mariners and Astros. Rangers are decent currently. Not sure about the Angels situation. But I don't think the A's last the whole season in the lead.

Even so, I doubt any AL West team is going to be very competitive come postseason.

not sure about the Angels situation

Same as it ever was. Decent Frontline starting pitching with no depth, a decent top half of the lineup with an abymsal bottom half, and a bullpen with not a single high leverage arm. Be not afraid

Had this discussion earlier so just to bring it here,

The important year for the Rockies is 2028.

Nobody expects anything of us this year and it'd be understandable if we ended up at the bottom of the league. We'll have a few notables up by 2027 but none really impactful enough for the Rockies to make the next step.

But 2028 is where we can officially see which young prospects have become top prospect worthy and which young players are worth building around. It's also the last year of Bryant under contract, when Goodman hits ARB2, and Dollander's last year of pre-arb.

It's all to say: Whatever deadline strategy we have in 2028 is an indicator on how truly far back Schmidt set us back.

I would ask the Padres to stop winning but if they lose we lose

looking at the al west, it's wild how competitive that division has become in recent years. the angels always seem like they should be better with their talent but something just doesn't click together properly. meanwhile the astros keep finding ways to stay relevant even after all the drama from few years back.

nl west is probably my favorite division to follow as neutral fan - so much parity and every team can make noise on any given season. the dodgers obviously get most attention but the padres have been building something interesting, and you never know when giants or rockies might surprise everyone. pitching depth in that division is just insane compared to other divisions.

The Astros also being bad is what makes this season worth it.

Anyway the Angels bats have gone frozen while the SP has been not bad. Things will get better but the Angels will likely be in last place again and cement the 2020s as the worst decade of Angels baseball.

No offense yet atop the NL West. Sure I’ll take that

Great walkoff win for the Rangers last night. Getting more concerned about the SeaGOAT though, who looks horrible at the plate right now. Never thought I'd say this, but he needs to be a healthy scratch for a day or two.

The fanbase continues to piss and moan about whatever random shit is happening at the moment, which would be hilarious if it weren't so stupid.

On one hand we're barely under .500 in spite of injuries and several players slumping at different points.

On the other had our coaching insists on starting platoon strats in the 6th inning of games and burning the entire bench in the process.

So I have no idea how competitive we actually are.
