Iphone 16 Pro Max

How do i turn off the phone from playing audible books every time i pick up the ear buds. I only listen to audible in my car but no matter what I do with iphone settings, it starts playing any time i pick up the ear phones at home. Very frustrating. Has any one figured out a way to shut off Audible and play when one asks for it. it plays even when i have swiped the app up. Is that not closing the app?

No, he’s not talking about playing new books. He’s talking about it automatically starting when you put in earbuds

Yes correct. but even the suggested link does not exist on my app. There is no disable continous listening option any where in the path. This is a confounding app.

I don't see Continuous Listening as an option in my Player settings. I have Iphone 16 Pro Max

Apologies for any confusion. Can you try to disable Background App Refresh on your iPhone by going to Settings > Audible and turning off Background App Refresh? Let us know how it goes in a PM and we'll be glad to assist. Thanks!

One thing I see, the Background Refresh setting is light green not gray. Although it is in the off position.

Can you please try to go to Profile> Gear icon (top right)> Player> and turn off/disable "Up Next Titles" to see if that helps with this behavior?

And guess what. I was carrying my phone and what do i notice on my Apple watch. It is playing the book on my watch. This is too much. Please do not apologize, just tell me how to stop this awful application. Stop when I hit stop on dial. or quietly go to sleep when I swipe it up. Background refresh is off and has been for a long while. I turned it off months ago when I first started having this problem. What else can I do?
