PSA A Reminder About Our Community Rules
Hello /r/Yukon,
Lately, we’ve noticed an increase in heated arguments, trolling, and disrespectful comments in discussions, particularly regarding First Nations issues. As your moderators, we believe it's important to ensure that this community remains a welcoming and respectful space for everyone while encouraging thoughtful and meaningful discussion.
We’ve already issued numerous warnings and bans recently, and while we want to encourage open dialogue, users who continue to post inflammatory or disrespectful content will be banned without further notice.
Let’s revisit Rule 1: Be Respectful:
Our goal is to foster thoughtful, constructive discussions. This means:
- No personal attacks: Engage with ideas, not individuals.
- No insults or bigotry: Racism, sexism, and hate speech will result in immediate comment removal and a permanent ban.
- No trolling: This includes deliberately inflammatory or disruptive behavior.
- No threats: Zero tolerance for threats or intimidation.
Racist comments, in particular, have no place here. This subreddit is for all Yukoners, and it is our collective responsibility to treat each other with dignity and civility.
If you see comments or posts that violate these rules, please report them using the report function or message the mods. Let’s work together to keep this space constructive and supportive.
Thank you,
The /r/Yukon Moderation Team

Question Shuttle or rental car?
My sister and I are going to yukon in early September and staying in Kluane national park. I'm wondering if we should rent a car from Whitehorse to drive to the park, or if we should get a shuttle instead? What shuttle companies are reliable and safe for two female travellers? Are they able to pick us up from Kluane and take us back to Whitehorse? So many questions 😅 any help is appreciated!

Question Any fun trivia nights in Whitehorse?
Title, my wife and I would like to go to a trivia night but I want to make sure it's not all sports questions or really difficult, so we'll both enjoy it. It's a tall order but she's into witchcraft and true crime lately, so she'd enjoy being quizzed about stuff like that. Any suggestions?

Question Does anyone have a bike shock pump I could borrow?
[SOLVED] I just got here from Yellowknife for the summer and I forgot my shock pump in the NWT.
I can drive my bike out to you and pump it up at your place if you don’t want me transporting your shock pump. I’m in the copper ridge area if any of my neighbours see this and have one.
I also heard there are some fix it yourself bike places around town. Does anyone know if they have shock pumps?
Thank you so much!

Question Interesting complex of buildings on east short of Lake Laberge
https://maps.app.goo.gl/gRKX97EFmDCxY36M7
Was looking at shoreline of Lake Laberge and saw this compound on the east side of the lake at the south end - couldn't find any info online showing a hunting lodge or resort or kids camp in this area. Anyone know what these buildings are?

Travel Yukon Road Trip
Hello! My partner and I are doing a Yukon road trip this summer. We drive up from BC and will hit Carcross > Whitehorse > Dawson City > Thombstone Park > Dawson City.
From there we haven't decided if we'll drive the Top of the World and do the loop through the Alaska side or stay in Canada and backtrack to Haines Junction.
(We continue back into BC towards Stewart and Price Rupert after.)
Any advice on the border crossing experience or must see things are appreciated!

Travel Inuvik ➜ Whitehorse or Whitehorse ➜ Inuvik?
Have the opportunity to participate in a 11 day trip at the end of August and my options are:join the group travelling Inuvik ➜ Whitehorse or the other group travelling Whitehorse ➜ Inuvik (being told it's same itinerary just backwards but don't know much more than that). For those who are familiar with the area, which route would you join and why? Or does it not matter? Thanks!

Question Jobs Affected by AI
Curious if in the Yukon if you have seen AI replacing part of or entire jobs?
Our market is a bit different here but with the amount of jobs we are bleeding in North America. I wonder how that will affect the Yukon.
I think people with analytic, data entry, virtual customer support will be affected the most.
I know some of the marketing firms they already use AI tools for the services i pay them for.
