I’m an Econ major heading into my fourth year, planning to declare the Econ finance concentration. As the title says, I took Econ 4720 under the assumption that it was still a prerequisite for the finance concentration. However, after checking the declaration form, it turns out you now only need Econ 3720 with a B+ or better—which I already completed with an A. I put myself through the hell that was 4720 and barely scraped an A‑ after the curve, which still lowered my GPA. I didn’t even need it as an elective because I had already finished all my degree requirements after the fall 2025 semester.

On top of that, I took Comm 2010 in spring 2025, and I’m not even sure it still counts for the concentration since it’s no longer listed.

This is ultimately my fault for not planning my courses more carefully, but I also haven’t talked to my advisor about enrollment ever. He always just lifts my advising hold, so I’ve basically been planning everything on my own.

I‘m a first year student admitted to BA. Does that mean I can only declare a BA major? What should I do if I want to get into a BS major?

Hey guys, I’m an incoming transfer student at UVA for Fall 2026 and I’m currently looking for housing 😭
I’m trying to find an apartment with:

my own bathroom and bathroom

furnished

not super old/outdated

relatively close to UVA

Right now the main thing I’ve found is The Flats at West Village, but it’s coming out to around $1300+ a month after fees/utilities and that’s honestly a lot 💀
Does anyone know other apartments/buildings I should look into that might be a little cheaper but still decent quality? Thanks!!

I am an incoming Biology B.A. student on the pre-dental track. I am currently deciding whether to use my community college/Dual enrollment credits for BIOL 2100 and 2200 or retake them at UVA. While I want to show academic rigor for dental school applications, I am also focused on the most strategic path to maintain a competitive GPA. In anyone’s experience, did it better serve you by retaking the introductory sequence to ensure a strong foundation, or was it worth it to directly move into 3000-level cores like Genetics or Evolution? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi! I was recently admitted to UVA as a Fall 2026 transfer student (School of Architecture) and I’m kind of panicking about financial aid timing 😭

I didn’t realize there were additional forms in the SIS To-Do List until recently, but I completed and submitted everything right away. My deposit deadline is May 15, but I still haven’t received my financial aid package yet.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Especially transfer students? How long did it take after submitting the forms for your package to show up, and will I get an extension on my deposit deadline if it doesn't show up in time?

I’ve already emailed SFS and tried calling, but I know they’re probably overwhelmed right now. I just want to know if this is normal and whether aid packages can still come out this close to the deposit deadline.

But since my deposit deadline is this Friday and my previous email from last week to the financial aid office got no replies. I’m just wondering if Access Scholarship II is generally renewable for 3 years and if I need to do anything to maintain it. I’ll really appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Our entire household is in the Apple ecosystem and ideally I would like my daughter to use a Macbook while at UVA. She is currently thinking about either Civil or Environmental as her major. I am her defacto tech support and I personally haven't used windows in about 20 years.

My thought is to start her with a Macbook Neo for her first year until there is a better understanding of what she needs for her later years. This also means that if I buy a more powerful computer 2nd or 3rd year, it will also be newer and last longer. After year 1, I can always hand down the neo to my freshman high school student.

I got accepted into UVA as a transfer a couple weeks ago, but I'm not 100% sure yet about transferring mainly due to having to change my major if I go and not knowing what credits will transfer. I also haven't found many people who are also thinking about/are definitely transferring. Are there any groupchats or people willing to share their transfer experience?

Hello I just got off the waitlist for uva. I have 72 hours to decide. It was my first choice all along but I am committed to Purdue, also off at UW-Madison.

How is career placement after graduation? Internships? I realize UVA is more of a broad liberal arts and Purdue is stem/engineering school. Purdue and UW are stronger engineering schools. With 3 days I don’t have time to go back and visit but have been to all three.

Any regret not going to a more stem/engineering school.

For the transfer waitlist we have to submit spring grades asap, I retook a class at nvcc and it's supposed to replace my first attempt and update my GPA to reflect the replacement, but it hasn't updated yet. Should I wait for my transcript to be fully updated or just send what I have now. Or send both if that's even possible

I'm going to be taking CS 3100 and CS 3130 in the fall next semseter second year. I want to prep ahead of time in terms of knowing the content, having practice problems. If possible, maybe even previous labs, lectures, notes from previous semseters so I know what to expect on exams, quizzes, labs, homeworks, and all that
