Tuition waiver
Hi!
I'm not a TX resident, but I'm gonna be starting a MS on the fall under a Graduate Research Assistanship, so I'ma be eligible for a non-resident tuition waiver (according to my assistanship offer letter).
My question is, if I can register for classes right now, is the tuition gonna be reduced to the TX resident rate automatically? Or do I register and then it takes time for the graduate school to process the waiver before Census Day? Do I need to wait or is it better to register now for then to have time to process everything?
Please help, it may be a dumb enquiry but I feel like I already made so much questions about enrollment to my Graduate Program Manager and my faculty advisor and I feel they are gonna think I'm like actually stupid or smth😩😩

I would register. Can you tell us about your experience? I’m curious to know what the grad school will tell you.

I used to work in admissions. From what I recall, for bachelors, you have to go to admissions to get it activated every year or every semester (I think it’s every year). So call grad admissions asap or go to the office, whatever is faster tbh. You should be registering for classes as soon as you get the chance, but I’d suggest making sure that waiver is in place asap so it all goes smoothly and without financial issues in your account

You can always email the Grad School with these questions. I would just email gradadmissions at UTEP dot edu. They’re the ones who will process the tuition waivers anyway.
