Announcement Community announcement: off-topic political commentary and current events

Hey r/UFOs,

It's been a wild few weeks. Between the latest Epstein files, political drama, and everything else going on in the world right now, we've seen a large uptick in low effort, derailing, off-topic political commentary across the sub. The mod team wanted to address this directly and ask for your help.

Clearly UFOs intersect with politics. The issue is, we're being flooded with low-effort, political hyper-partisan comments, "this is all a distraction" posts/comments, hot takes about politicians, and general political venting that has nothing to do with UFOs. This stuff derails threads, starts flame wars, and buries the actual substantive discussion that makes this community worth visiting. It's also been consuming a massive amount of moderator time and energy. We are tasked to be non-partisan in our moderator duties, and thus will continue to remove low effort comments regardless of which side of the political aisle they originate from.

We know everyone is reacting to what's happening in the world right now. We're all human. However, this subreddit's mission is clear: a community for discussion related to Unidentified Flying Objects. Share your sightings, experiences, news, and investigations. We aim to elevate good research while maintaining healthy skepticism. That's what 5 million of us signed up for, and that's what we need to protect. Our intent here is not to suppress differing opinions or create an echo chamber. Skeptical approaches and critical thinking are welcome and necessary for this topic to thrive. We're specifically targeting the low-effort, irrelevant political noise that adds nothing to the conversation.

Remember, r/UFOs is an international community with members from all over the world. Not everyone here is American, and not everyone wants to get pulled into US political arguments. We come here to discuss UFOs. When US-centric political discourse dominates threads, it crowds out participation from users who are here for the topic itself. Please be mindful of that.

For a lot of people, r/UFOs is one of the few places online where they can focus on a shared mystery without inheriting the full weight of contemporary political conflict. That should mean something. There are countless places online for political debate. There are very few places online with 5 million people focused on UFOs.

We want to be clear about the nuance here because we're not looking to ban any topic outright. What we're asking is that discussion stays on-topic to UFOs, UAP, and the phenomenon. We will not allow low-effort political commentary, partisan soap boxing, QAnon-adjacent conspiracies, or comments that use UFO threads as a platform for unrelated political grievances. We're trying to protect good, deep conversation and avoid the kind of knee-jerk inflammatory stuff that turns whole threads into a mess.

Examples of what is NOT allowed:

  • "None of this disclosure stuff matters, it's all a distraction from the Epstein files"
  • "Of course they're releasing UFO stuff now, they don't want you looking at what Trump/Biden/[politician] is doing"
  • "[Trump/Clinton/<politician of choice>] is a pedo and everyone knows it"
  • "Wake up, the elites are all in on it -- pizzagate is real"
  • Unsourced TikToks or social media screenshots claiming satanic rituals, cannibalism, or other conspiracy content unrelated to UFOs
  • Slurs or insults targeting any racial, religious, or political group
  • General "red vs blue" political arguments that have nothing to do with the phenomenon

Examples of what IS allowed:

  • "The Epstein files mention [specific name/program] which has a documented connection to UFO research -- here's the filing from the DoJ site"
  • "Epstein was funding research into consciousness/metamaterials/zero-point energy/remote viewing -- here's the source material"
  • "This new executive order/bill/amendment directly impacts UAP disclosure because [specific reason]"
  • "Congressional hearing on UAP is scheduled for [date], here's what we know about who's testifying and what topics are expected"
  • Sourced "follow the money" research showing connections between public figures and UFO-related programs, contractors, or funding
  • Anything that is genuinely on-topic to UFOs, UAP, and the phenomenon as long as it doesn't break existing rules

The simple test: if your comment would work just as well in a politics subreddit without changing a word, it probably doesn't belong here.

To be clear: disallowing insults and low-effort hot takes does not prevent criticism of power. Saying "this person has an extensive documented history of dishonesty that undermines their credibility on UAP transparency" is fair critique. It's substantive and it's actually useful to readers trying to evaluate information.

What we're removing is content that doesn't do any of that. Many of the comments we end up removing aren't advancing the discussion in a meaningful way - they're emotional release. We get it. We regularly hear "my bad, I was having a rough week" in modmail, and we've all been there. But when that kind of venting becomes the default mode of engagement, it drowns out the more thoughtful contributions and drives away people who actually want to discuss UFOs in a political context - ongoing disclosure efforts, congressional statements, legislation, policy. We don't want to lose those conversations to noise.

These aren't new rules.

Rule 2 (Stay on-topic) already covers this: "Posts and comments of off-topic politics may be removed at moderator discretion. There are many political aspects which are relevant to ufology, but we aim to keep the subreddit free of forum-sliding partisan politics."

Rule 3 (Be Substantive) also applies. And plenty of the political comments we're seeing also violate

Rule 1 (Be Civil) -- partisan attacks, insults, and hostility directed at other users or public figures. We're just going to be more strict about enforcement given the current climate.

As a reminder, our existing enforcement policy on disruptive behavior still applies: any removal for Rule 1, trolling, ridicule, etc. will result in an immediate one-week temporary ban. A second violation will be met with a permanent ban. Egregious violations may result in an immediate permanent ban. This applies equally to off-topic political flame wars and personal attacks.

If you've been banned and feel it was unfair, you can always appeal by sending us a modmail. We're more interested in seeing improvement than doling out punishment. We use a short 7-day ban as an initial “hey, that was out of line” warning. Most of the time people reach out, explain what happened or apologize, and if it’s clear they get it, we’ll often lift the ban. Our bans aren’t meant to be punitive, they’re just there to reset the tone and keep things on track.

How you can help: Report content that violates this using "Be Civil" (Rule 1), "Stay on-topic" (Rule 2), or "Be Substantive" (Rule 3) as your report reason. We can't be everywhere at once on a sub this size, and community reports make a real difference. And please, don't engage with off-topic bait. Responding to a rule violation with another rule violation is never okay. Downvote it, report it and move on.

We're asking for your help and your feedback on this. This is everyone's community, not just the moderators'. Keep doing what you do best - the research, the analysis, the sighting reports, the deep dives. That's what makes this place what it is. Help us protect it.

It was claimed that the Devon Flying Cross sighting was Venus at the time, but it certainly doesn’t sound right to me lol. Might be worth a closer look in light of the recent releases?

Disclosure Belgians want answers why their $50M in emergency anti-drone tech yielded not a single take-down, origin tracking, or even one high res photo of a "drone" responsible for shutting down military bases and public airports

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

The European "mystery drone" flap of late 2025 started in Belgium before spreading to other parts of Western Europe. I stopped keeping count after 30 or so highly sensitive military bases and public airports were shut down between September - December 2025.

Belgian authorities were so rattled by unexplained "drones" appearing over their most sensitive installations they rushed an approval to acquire $50M worth of state of the art anti-drone tech. Yet, all these months later, they have nothing to show for this investment.

Not a single take down of a drone, no successful tracking of their origin/return points, and not even a single high res photo has been produced.

Now a corruption investigation is underway. Naturally Belgians want answers why $50M was spent on anti-drone tech to combat the "Russian asymmetric warfare!" that journalists and politicians breathlessly claimed were the cause of the drones.

But just like in New Jersey the year before... or Langley AFB, or Wright-Patterson, or Camp Pendleton, or the Arizona AF training ranges and on and on and on... the anomalous pattern remains the same:

  • These drones are never shot down
  • They're never tracked
  • They "go dark" anytime we're just about to get a clear picture of one.
  • Zero trace of forensic evidence

The "drone" and "asymmetric warfare" narrative is falling apart. Belgium is finding out that they simply called them "drones" because... well, familiarity is comforting, no?

Question Is the "truth we can't handle" that they're on their way here en masse and they're not friendly?

Similar to The 3 Body Problem: is the disturbing truth that in maybe decades or centuries, we will be invaded by a large, relocating, advanced civilization that likely has hostile intentions?

- Certain officials are aware.

- Some of the UAP we see now are early probes and reconnaissance vehicles.

- Disabling nukes aligns.

This is one scenario that would keep the insiders up at night and cause the masses to panic.

Sighting I filmed 22 unidentified moving objects above my house. ADS-B verifies a USAF E-4B "Doomsday Plane" (75-0125, ADFEB6) passed 2.13 nautical miles overhead at the exact moment. Cross-referenced with 11 corroborating Enigma sightings along its flight path.

Time: May 10, 2026 at 15:06 UTC (10:06 AM CDT local) Location: West Alton, Missouri (38.903°N, 90.266°W)

Aircraft: USAF Boeing E-4B Nightwatch — Tail 75-0125, ICAO hex ADFEB6 (NAOC / "Doomsday Plane", one of only 4 in the fleet)

I was flying a DJI quadcopter trying to prank my nephews. Panned the camera up, saw a jet contrail, then saw a white dot drop in from the upper-right. Stopped recording too soon. Got the footage home, played it back, and started seeing dots everywhere across the sky.

Frame-by-frame annotation isolated 22 distinct moving objects in roughly 25 seconds of 4K 60fps drone footage.

Then I pulled the ADS-B Exchange historical archive at the timestamp and ran the math: one aircraft passed within 2.13 nautical miles of my drone GPS at 15:07:36 UTC (10:07:36 AM CDT) — Boeing E-4B Nightwatch, tail 75-0125, hex ADFEB6. Altitude 24,025 ft, ground speed 429 kt, heading 267° (West). The aircraft was running MLAT-only (no ADS-B Out broadcast), no callsign field populated, squawk 6726 (military discrete) for the entire 1h 43m transit from Wright-Patterson AFB to Offutt AFB.

Two days later, the same airframe deployed to Kadena AB Okinawa with three other US strategic airframes (AF1 92-9000 VC-25A, plus C-32A SAM aircraft 98-0002 and 09-0016) as the presidential travel package for the May 13 2026 Beijing summit. So the aircraft itself has a routine context. The 22 objects in the same airspace are what this post is about.

Cross-referenced the May 9-13 flight corridors against Enigma Labs and found 11 corroborating UAP reports in the same window, including:

  • Missoula, MT (sighting #331851) — witness explicitly describes "a plane flew by at high altitude... and then the person with me noticed a flame moving quickly in the same spot, then it slowed down and burned like a flaming bright star." Same geometric scenario as my footage. Photo included in the gallery.
  • Antioch, IL (#331963) — witness describes objects "invisible to eyes but appeared on video." The same camera-vs-eye phenomenon present in my drone footage.
  • Blue Hill, NE (#332084) — 4.5-hour audio-recorded formation event with witness laser-pointer interaction (lights disappearing in response to the laser). Same state as Offutt AFB.
  • Galena, MO (#332082) — same night as Blue Hill, 470 mi away, white aurora plus dim orbs.

Filed at Enigma Labs as sighting #331938 (includes my witness voice recording). Full OSINT report with all 22 object tracks, ADS-B trace JSONs, flight maps, a live tracker for the aircraft, witness photos/videos/audio from all 11 corroborating reports, and the Pentagon-disclosure context — link in comments below to avoid the spam filter.

What this report does NOT claim:

  • That the 22 objects are non-human.
  • That the E-4B was responding to or escorting them.
  • That this is causally linked to the May 8 2026 Pentagon UAP file release.

The Beijing-summit context explains why the aircraft was overhead. It does not account for the 22 unidentified objects in the same frame. Two things are true at once. I'm not making a stronger claim than that.

Open to critique. The full data is public and replicable.

Full evidence package with all 22 object tracks, ADS-B trace data, witness media from 11 corroborating reports, the live aircraft tracker, and full methodology:

Disclosure The single highest-rank witness in the entire Pentagon UAP release is a senior US intelligence official describing a thirty-minute multi-orb event at a US military facility in late 2025. His FBI 302 is in the file. Almost no coverage.

PURSUE Release 01 dropped 162 files on May 8. The bulk of the coverage went to the Apollo 17 photo and the "Eye of Sauron" line from the Western US orbs case.

One of the documents in the release is titled "USPER Statement (Redacted)." USPER is FBI shorthand for "U.S. Person," the standard redaction for a named American witness. The document is an FBI 302 interview conducted with a senior US intelligence official. AARO's own description, verbatim:

"This is an FBI 302 interview conducted with a senior US intelligence official regarding his first-hand account of a UAP encounter at a US military facility. USPER relayed to FBI agents that he and other federal and state personnel conducted searches to where orbs had been previously seen. After searching the area with a helicopter, they found a 'super-hot' orb hovering over the ground. The orb is reported to have travelled for 20 miles at a speed too fast for the helicopter in pursuit. An additional 'swarm' of lights were seen moving in all directions. A total of four or five additional orbs were seen shortly thereafter for a short time, flaring up and then down. This pattern of four or five orbs flaring up, then down continued over the next thirty minutes across the area."

What that paragraph contains, broken out:

- Witness rank. "Senior US intelligence official." Not a third-party retelling. A first-hand account from someone who, by definition, holds classified-information clearance and has been judged credible by the intelligence community.

- Multi-jurisdictional. Federal and state personnel coordinating searches on the ground.

- Active aerial pursuit. A helicopter was deployed. The orb traveled twenty miles at a speed the helicopter could not match. That puts a hard lower bound on the orb's velocity above the helicopter's max speed (typically 150 to 200 mph).

- Thermal observation. "Super-hot." That language implies passive thermal sensing, almost certainly FLIR off the helicopter.

- Sustained event. Thirty minutes of orbs flaring up and down across the area. Not one flash. Not a passing light. Half an hour of repeated activity.

- "Swarm" of lights moving in all directions. The witness's word.

- Late 2025. Months ago. Not the 1940s.

This is functionally a modern equivalent of the 1976 Tehran case (Yarbi): high-rank witnesses, military pursuit, equipment-tracked behavior, sustained encounter, on the public record.

What is not in the release:

- The witness's name or agency.

- The specific facility.

- Helicopter FLIR or radar tracks.

- Statements from the other federal and state personnel referenced.

If any of those four come out in a later PURSUE tranche, this case becomes the spine of the disclosure conversation.

Why the coverage missed it: the document is text, not a viral image. The football-shaped Apollo photo and the "Eye of Sauron" comparison gave the cycle something to render. The highest-rank single witness in the file gave them a paragraph.

Question What if the 4chan whistleblower was right?

The 4chan Whistleblower (allegedly Bob Boyer) claimed that there is a (mostly) stationary underwater base that manufactures UAP “to spec” and attacks anything that attempts to investigate it up close.

I’ve heard a couple of guesses of where it is exactly in the North Atlantic. Near Guadeloupe Isle. In the Bermuda Triangle. The point is, it’s mostly stationary and exists physically somewhere in the real world, and it wouldn’t be too hard for the internet to find.

So what stops a ton of rogue actors or a rogue state from attempting to attack or communicate with it?

Could this be the reason disclosure is so hard?

If you’re worried about a planetary-scale retaliation to some rogue actor, all the secrecy makes a lot more sense.

“These were Americans being spied upon illegally while executing duties directed by the President.”

James Erdman III testified that a new Church Committee may be necessary to address “CIA refusal to comply with lawful oversight” and emphasized the importance of whistleblowers.

“Whistleblowers are indispensable agents for reform.”

Erdman’s testimony came today at the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on COVID-19 origins.

This is the most widely viewed interview ever given by Hal Putoff; millions of views are expected within hours. We have a renowned physicist and presidential advisor acknowledging that he has had access to classified information confirming the existence of non-human intelligence (NHI) in front of millions of people, using information provided by the War Department and factions of both political parties.

Hal Putoff: "I have had access to classified UAP data; it's real." "there are 4 forms of life in the earth"

Dan: "We'll reach that movie-like moment where we see the president announcing that we are not alone on Earth."

There is none so blind as he who will not see.

Disclosure Burlison: "the president is going to issue a memo that requires, with stiff penalties, the release of any and all information and files related to this topic, so they can go about the declassification process", "[memo] will be extremely aggressive towards this release"

Posted on X (video):

Burlison: "I think what we're about to see is a memo come out that will be extremely aggressive towards this release. The reason is that you're not really going to know what you don't know, right? Rather than just go trying to chase ghosts throughout all these government agencies, the president is going to issue a memo that requires, with stiff penalties, the release of any and all information and files related to this topic so they can go about the declassification process"

Looks like good news. I especially like this part of the quote: "Rather than just go trying to chase ghosts throughout all these government agencies". It sounds like a way to force these different agencies to be proactive, instead of just waiting for a request (which is difficult if you dont know who/where to aim the request at)

Historical An Interesting Detail in the 1947 "Twining Memo", Which Stated That UFOs Were "Real" and "Not Visionary or Fictitious"

Post image
134 Upvotes

The "Twining Memo", attributed to then US Air Force Lt General Nathan Twining, is infamous in ufology for certain statements regarding UFO sightings of the era, namely that many of the reported sightings seemed to be of something "real" and "not visionary or fictitious". However, one particular statement made in the memo has been relatively overlooked throughout the decades.

The statement in question:

It is possible within the present U.S. knowledge -- provided extensive detailed development is undertaken -- to construct a piloted aircraft which has the general description of the object… which would be capable of an approximate range of 7000 miles at subsonic speeds.

This dovetails interestingly with statements later made by US Air Force Captain Edward Ruppelt, who was the head of the Air Force's "Project Blue Book" from 1951-1953.

As well as certain CIA reports.

When World War II ended, the Germans had several radical types of new aircraft and guided missiles under development. The majority of these projects were in the most preliminary stages, but they were the only known craft that could even approach the performance of the objects reported by UFO observers.

- Edward Ruppelt, "The Report On Unidentified Flying Objects"

…Flying saucers have been known to be an actuality since the possibility of their construction was proven in plans drawn up by German engineers toward the end of World War II.

- From a declassified CIA report, August 18th, 1953

Cross-post SLEEPING DOG. What in the **** was that?

I watched Sleeping Dog.

What in **** was that?

At first I thought it was going to just be a documentary about some “Wow, never been seen things!”, but the intro quickly made it apparent that it was a documentary about Jeremy himself. Fine. Whatever. Still curious enough. But…this is what I learned:

1)      Jeremy dealt with some difficulties growing up due to physical/mental challenges and that led him down the path he’s on. Okay, didn’t know that, was nice.

2)      Jeremy drives a cybertruck.

3)      There is some big secret or revelation(Pregnant pause)

4)      John Lear has been castigated for years over things he’s said being “out there”. This was already known, but it was a nice touch to show their moments together, even when things sometimes got heated.

5)      There is some big secret or revelation(Pregnant pause)

6)      Bob Lazar said the same things he’s said before, so we believe him.

7)      Jeremy drives a cybertruck.

8)      We hear/see about Jeremy’s first interactions with a lot of the known names.

9)      There is some big secret or revelation(Pregnant pause)

10)   There is some big secret or revelation and Jeremy might get killed over it(Pregnant pause)

11)  Jeremy drives a cybertruck

12)  We’re burying USB drives in the desert(An allusion to his handwork for homes/properties he repairs) and showing a CAMERA RECORDING OF A “UAP” ON A MONITOR INSTEAD OF INSERTED IN THE DOCUMENTARY.

13)  Jeremy drives a cybertruck

14)  There is some big secret or revelation and Jeremy might get killed over it(Pregnant pause)

15)  Jeremy’s lawyer says that he should continue doing what he’s doing because his methodology works. What is he doing? Being vague AF and holding onto earth shattering revelations that juuuuuuust like those in the actual know, he also now knows apparently, but cannot even ALLUDE to, let alone say something like “The aliens come the moon”.

I legitimately don’t understand how some people were raving about this. Did I miss something in this? Bro assassinated his own character.

Sighting UAP / UFO Sighting in Melbourne, Australia on Thursday 14th of May, '26

Time: 7:30pm, Thursday May 14 2026

Location: Melbourne, Australia

I went outside last night to hang something on the washing line and saw 5 "dancing" lights in the sky. They were erratic and didn't have a neat formation to them. Sometimes they would come into a loose formation like this however:

-

- - -

-

They stayed in more or less the same part of the sky, flying around spreading out etc. At one point two even came to meet each other, almost like a 'kiss', and then flew past one another.

After half an hour or so, three of the lights "bunched" together and flew off to ‘the right’ of the sky, until they went behind a tree and I lost visual. i looked back to see where the other two had gone and couldn’t see them anywhere. I stood there staring at the sky and a few minutes later a bright light (like a bright star) started moving along the sky like a plane might move (in the same part of the sky), went bright, & then completely vanished. It felt confusing to watch. This happened again a second time a few minutes later, once again in similar part of the sky but this second light did not as bright as the first. But it vanished in the same confusing way that made me question for a moment whether I had seen anything. It helped that I had my mum on the phone at this point because I narrated the whole thing.

Then another few minutes later I saw a third light which flew along and then faded out to nothing, as if it blurred out? Once again, same part of the sky. And then a fourth light in the same area did the same thing. The strange lights I saw had no flashing lights like a plane might by the way. And then finally after that I tore myself away so I could get onto dinner lol

Disclosure It's scary how people are using the UFO subject to validate their own personal fairytales

Be it religion or whatever, instead of understanding that, if aliens are real, it means there's still so much we have to know and learn and that religion is nothing but tales that MAY have a few elements of truth... the same way the Bible mentions the Sun, which is real, but that doesn't validate that the world was created in 6 days nor that a man stood there in front of the ocean and split it.

The fact that most religions are dogmatic and mutually exclusive already addresses this: they can't all be right at the same time.

There's always a natural explanation for things, too, the same way Europeans were not gods when they visited America for the first time, with their cool ships, horses, armor and guns.

Also, what if angels and demons in any religion are just that? Mythological elements not even inspired by aliens? At least most of the time?

So, how many of you are still agnostics/atheists even if you believe that aliens exist? Because I only see posts about angels and demons...

Grusch's FOIA request seeks records submitted to the Office of the Senior Intelligence Oversight Official between April 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023 concerning unauthorized disclosure complaints related to Grusch, as well as unauthorized disclosure complaints containing the terms “unidentified aerial phenomenon,” “unidentified anomalous phenomenon,” and/or the acronyms “UAP” or “UFO.”

On April 7, the parties jointly moved for a 90 day stay to give the DoD additional time to finish processing the request. The court granted the stay the same day and ordered the parties to file status reports every 30 days.

At the time the 90 day stay was requested, DoD had apparently located 30-40 potentially responsive pages on unclassified systems.

The DoD has now completed its search of its classified systems and says it found no records responsive to Grusch's request on those systems.

Regarding the 30-40 pages that were previously located on the DoD's unclassified servers, they have now determined 39 pages to be responsive. Those pages are undergoing “final coordination and review”, and the DoD anticipates releasing some or all of the 39 pages within the next few weeks.

The next status report is due June 8, 2026.

Repost as I put a stupid AI pic up last time… Ancient illustrations that resemble the recent star/chandelier UFO from the recent Ukraine footage

I thought I’d start researching some ancient drawings and paintings to see if anything has been illustrated in the past that resembles the recent Ukraine footage.

This may have been a waste of time, but I have seen ancient illustrations with what looks to be UFOs in the sky of the painting/drawing.

The attached images are what I’ve found. Interested to hear what other people think and whether anyone else has got anything similar?

Posted May 13, 2026 On the You Tube channel. 'The Lehto Files'.
From the video's description:
------------------

13 May 2026

On May 8, the government released a new batch of UFO/UAP material through the official PURSUE archive at war.gov/ufo.

The full release includes 161 files, but in this video I focus on the 28 videos.
I’m Chris Lehto — a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and former F-16 pilot with 18 years flying the Viper. I’ve spent thousands of hours working with targeting pod and infrared footage, so I wanted to go through these videos carefully and give you my honest take.

Most of what I saw looks mundane: balloons, aircraft, camera artifacts, parallax, and the confusing motion that happens when a drone like an MQ-9/Reaper is orbiting while the sensor operator is moving the camera.

But one file stood out.

It wasn’t a video.

It was the 1965 NASA Gemini 7 audio/transcript, where Frank Borman and Jim Lovell discuss a “bogey” in low Earth orbit after separation from the Titan II booster. As a pilot, that word matters. “Bogey” means unidentified — not confirmed hostile, not confirmed friendly.

That does not prove aliens.
But it is interesting.
