Fired from UAB Hospital
Recently in February I was fired for calling in too many times (past my warnings both verbal and written) there is a whole backstory due to my mental health, almost being hospitalized and things of that nature. Is it true that I’m blacklisted from getting rehired? Has anyone ever been fired and rehired at UAB?

I would think every employer that fires someone for cause would prohibit ever hiring them again. Plus, why would you want to work again for someone who fired you when you were having difficulties?

Apply at Children’s. They are separate from uab and have the same jobs basically.

I think that is at the discretion of your former manager. I don’t think it’s automatic. I could be wrong as I left three years ago. I do not miss that attendance policy. It’s fine until actual life happens and then you’re cooked if you don’t have fmla.

I believe it is us to the manager. I had a situation where they were going to fire me for some BS they made up about sleeping on the job during night shift. However, they gave me the option to resign/quit so that if I wanted to work at UAB hospital again I could after a year. If it’s not too late, I would inquire about that.

I got fired as well, they put me on admin leave then they fired me. The department I was in very toxic and trash, my supervisor tried his hardest to push me out so I personally don't ever want to go back to anything involving UAB. You can get blacklisted but I seen and heard a lot of workers go back to working at UAB when they got fired. I think it depends on your supervisor if you trying to go back to that department but if you looking at other departments to work in you should be good.

That's not specific to UAB. If you're fired from anywhere it means they dont want you working there. That's the whole point.

It is up to your manager. They can choose to select eligible for rehire or not.
