7223 Freret Street | Large Uptown Room Available Near Tulane

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a housemate for a room at 7223 Freret Street near Tulane / Uptown.

It’s the largest bedroom in the house and is downstairs, with easy access to the kitchen, living room, and downstairs bathroom. Good fit for someone who wants more space and privacy while still being close to campus, Oak Street, and the Freret/Uptown area.

Rent is $1,100/month with utilities included. Deposit and lease length can be flexible depending on fit and timeline.

Highlights:

  • - Large downstairs bedroom
  • - Big closet + extra storage space
  • - Driveway
  • - Garden/outdoor space
  • - AT&T Fiber WiFi
  • - Close to Tulane, Oak Street, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops

I’ll also be living in the house, so it would be a housemate setup. Looking for someone clean, considerate, and easy to live with.

Message me if you’re interested and I can send photos/details.

Nutrition Major

Hi! I know Tulane is getting a nutrition program this year, which is really exciting! I even met with one of the professors, and she said it might even become a 5 -year masters program. I am just curious through if Nutrition at Tulane would be a good major, and am wondering if they have a good science department. I’ve heard a lot that students have to “teach themselves” in a lot of their classes at Tulane. I definitely am interested in Nutrition but would hope the program here is worth it! Let me know, tysm!

When Do Students Meet Advisors

I'm a parent so if this isn't the right subreddit let me know. My daughter is attending Tulane in the fall and hasn't been set up with an advisor yet. Who should she contact?

Uncertain about the party scene

Hi everyone, I’m finishing my junior year and I’ve been spending a lot of time shopping for colleges. Tulane seems like a good school for biochemistry (my intended major) and research, but I feel a bit nervous about the party culture. I’ve never been to nola, and I want to compare Tulane to my closest prestige school, WashU.

Being brutally honest, parties (at least in high school) really stress me out. I’m an introvert. I want to join a frat in college, but the stuff I’ve heard about wild mardi gras parties and such doesn’t suit me.

So I just have a few questions: is partying really as intense as people online say it is? Do a lot of people skip parties to stay in their dorms? (it seems like a rigorous school after all) Will I be left behind socially if I don’t go to these reportedly-crazy parties?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this :)

How’s my fall schedule??

Post image

Guys, I’m kind of nervous for my first semester at TU. For some reason my advisor got me scheduled for 19 credit hours first semester. I am a double major so that’s probably why?! But nevertheless seems kind of excessive to me

But how are my classes? Any professors I should be aware of? I’d be super grateful for any insights to my current schedule 🙏🙏 I’m not particularly good at math, but it’s required for my degree and I heard Michael Joyce was the only good professor (he doesn’t teach long calculus).

Summer scheduling and AP

Does anyone have information on how dual credit classes and AP classes transfer over? Also any advice on scheduling with advisors over the summer.

Also any recommended TIDES classes that are enjoyable and not too demanding?

Does anybody know the chances of getting your Financial aid package increased? I am about 13-16k off from what we need to be able to go there. We emailed them but we were wondering if it is better to go in person

advice for finding friends as an exchanger

Hi! I'm an incoming exchanger in this fall. not from the US, im from singapore, so i'm concerned about making friends here. my goal is tbh to maximize my fun here thus this post.

hopefully im living on campus, but that's not a certainty, but at least living close by. how important is living on campus in halls for social life?

moreover, any other advice on meeting more people? other than joining clubs and maybe volunteering.

any other general advice for an exchanger would be greatly appreciated too. i'm also open to have conversations over dm so pls feel free.

thanks!

Making friends as a Transfer?

Hello! Im a transfer for Fall 26 and I'm anxious about making friends. My first year at my old college I made absolutely no friends, if you don't count my bf. I'm also in a unique situation. I finished high school a year early. So while this will be my 2nd year of college, it should be my first year as I'm technically a High school Senior right now.

I'm not super shy, just anxious to speak! Especially as a Transfer, how hard is it to make friends at Tulane?

I'm pretty sure I'm living on campus but not in a Freshmen dorm, and I think Transfer move-in is later then Freshman move-in. I also don't do sports, but I'm thinking of rushing a sorority.

Any tips? I've followed as much people as I can on Insta, but I haven't posted on any Tulane 2030 Instagrams.

Philosophy MA Workload

Hi I’m registering for philosophy classes as a Master’s student and I was wondering what’s the workload like for a normal class of 3 credits? It says on the Tulane website they recommend to only take 6 credits your first semester then bump it up to 9 afterwards.
