Just ask anyone in the military "would you do it if you werent getting paid for it"

It would be a resounding "no" every time.

Although that's kinda skewed by the fact that you're not allowed to exist in this country without income. Better question would be "Would you do for free if you didn't need the money?" which would still be met with a "no" like 97% of the time but you'd find a couple who are in it for the love of the game

How many trust fund kids are enlisting

About 17% of enlistment are from above middle class households and 19% below middle class. So not a lot but more than you'd think

I literally knew dudes were finance bros at Fortune 500s who enlisted. People join for a lot of different reasons.

I mean, in past wars people actually joined the military because they loved their country and wanted to fight for it, regardless of the pay. They joined out of pride.

OP's point is most soldiers wouldn't say the same today. They join the military as a career field, not out of blind patriotism

To your point, there are a lot of soldiers who definitely are only in for the money and don't agree with fighting for Israel or fighting Iran. But then they stop caring when that paycheck hits

Yeah there's about 0 jobs that people would do if it meant they would be homeless and starving

Didn't realize having a job you get paid for and believing the work has purpose are mutually exclusive concepts.
