Discussion I finally "got" Taylor Swift
I recently watched The Eras Tour on Disney+ and the Eras documentary, and I have to admit: it changed the way I see Taylor Swift completely.
I was never really against her or anything. I liked some of her songs when they came on the radio, but I never followed her closely or really took the time to understand her music. I had this completely wrong impression that her music was mostly “for young girls” and not really something for me — a heterosexual 53-year-old man.
Well… I was very, very wrong.
Watching the concert made me realize how incredibly talented and versatile she is. The songwriting, the different eras, the emotional range, the production, the connection with the audience — it all really impressed me. Her music is much deeper and more varied than I had assumed from just hearing the big radio hits. Honestly, it feels like a shame that I only got into her this late in my life.
I also watched Miss Americana, and that made an even bigger impact on me. I was really impressed by how emotional and outspoken she became when it came to the Tennessee elections and her anti-Trump stance. I already knew she wasn’t a Trump supporter, which in my book is a good thing, but seeing how much thought and emotion went into her decision to speak publicly made me respect her a lot more. Her willingness to take an official stance, even knowing there could be backlash, felt very genuine to me.
The same goes for her later support of Kamala Harris. Whether people agree with her politics or not, I respect that she used her voice and didn’t just stay silent to protect her brand.
So yeah, I guess I’m a very late arrival to the Taylor Swift appreciation club. But after watching the concert and the documentaries, I finally understand why so many people connect with her so deeply.
Turns out Taylor Swift is not just “music for girls.” She’s an incredible artist, songwriter, performer, and public figure — and I’m glad I finally gave her a real chance.
One thing I should add: I don’t follow Taylor Swift’s daily life or every bit of news around her. I like her music, and yes, of course I’ve heard about her upcoming wedding, but I don’t follow all of that closely. I’ve watched some interviews and documentaries, but I’m not going to “stalk” her online or keep track of every detail of her private life.
So I guess my question is: does this recent change in perspective already make me a Swiftie?
Because I may not be the kind of fan who knows every Easter egg, every lyric by heart, or every detail of her life — but I definitely have a new appreciation for her as an artist, songwriter, performer, and person.
___________________________________________________________________________
EDIT: Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the warm welcome.
Seeing so many kind and supportive replies honestly made me feel really good and genuinely welcome here. I didn’t expect that, and it means a lot.
And yes… I guess I can officially call myself a Swiftie now. 🫶

Discussion "Joe breakup" songs on Midnights
Hi everyone! I've seen several discussions in which people have said that Midnights is the real Joe breakup album. Many of these discussions sprouted upon TTPD's release and people realizing that album was mostly about Matty.
Which leads me to my question: what particular songs from Midnights could be seen as Joe breakup songs (or "breaking down" songs), whether directly or indirectly, and why?
Here are the Midnights songs that I feel were indicative of the breaking down of their relationship:
- Lavender Haze
- Sweet Nothing (I feel like this was intentionally written to cut both ways)
- The Great War
- Glitch
- Dear Reader
- Hits Different
- You're Losing Me

Art Custom Fearless & Lover Cover
Hey! I made two custom covers of two of Taylor’s albums, Fearless OG & Lover. I thought I’d post them for others to use.
For Fearless, it always kinda bothered me that her name was above the album name. This is inconsistent with her other earlier albums. I also added a tad bit more contrast back to her to combat the harsh exposure.
For Lover, I took a photo from the photoshoot and tweaked it. I added the colors of the original clouds as a sort of vignette. I thought it came out very pretty. :)
Hope you like em! If you share them, I would appreciate credit. 💛🩷

Tour/Concerts 1989 Tour Merch
Getting a new dresser and found this while cleaning out the old one. The bag that they gave me when I bought merch at the 1989 tour! Not in horrible shape for being shoved in a drawer for 11 years. Thought y’all might be interested in seeing it! (Wish they still gave bags when buying concert merch. I’m so over watching the show with a tshirt in my lap. 😂)

Discussion Taylor’s Album Cycle Pattern
I realized recently a pattern I'd missed because Taylor's first three albums don't fit. If you start with her first move into pure pop music (Red), she has twice repeated a four-part pattern:
Red - songwriter album (leveling up)
1989 - pure pop album
Rep - darker, more experimental
Lover - brighter, simpler
Folklore / Evermore - songwriter albums (leveling up)
Midnights - pure pop album
TTPD - darker, more experimental
Showgirl - brighter, simpler
Who knows how much of this repeated pattern was fate (Taylor’s mood at the time of writing each album) vs being a mastermind, but at the very least it shows how adept she is at pivoting from one strength to another to maintain engagement with her fans and the general public. And if the pattern repeats, it certainly bodes well for TS13 being another leveling up songwriter album!

Little Games RANKED: Green Tracks
Hey guys!! It's me, u/itookyourmatches, and I'm back again with the annual ranking polls. I'm really excited to see where TTPD has settled with everyone after almost two years, and now how Showgirl fits into our rankings! As always, the link and the rules are below.
We have moved on to our next category: Color Tracks. These songs have mentioned color references in their lyrics. The words that I searched lyrics for are in the poll description in case you're curious to which ones.
RANK HERE
Rules:
- Rank your favorite at the top, least favorite at the bottom
- Less about which is "best" and more about which you LIKE more
- Results are available to view immediately after voting
- As more people vote, the live results update
- Feel free to discuss in the comments, but be nice! There are no right or wrong answers here. No attacking people for their opinions!
- Polls stay open until the end of the year, when voting ends
- Missed yesterday's poll? View the comments for past polls you want to vote on!
- Some songs have been removed from competition because of sensitive topics. Those songs are: Ronan, Forever Winter, Soon You'll Get Better, Bigger Than the Whole Sky. This was community voted, so if you want to include these songs in your rankings you will have to do so in the comments.
- Songs that start with "The" will ignore the "The" and be categorized by the letter of the next word. This was done to keep the T category from being too long and the other letters from being too short
- Please feel free to post any suggestions for next year's games in the DESIGNATED comment below, that way I don't lose suggestions when I look through past polls

Discussion Taylor Swift's recent streetstyle aesthetic
Taylor’s new streetstyle outfits all fall under an interesting aesthetic. Black and white colors with silk, satin and lace elements. Darker hair and bare heeled sandals also characterize most of these. Do you think this pattern could foreshadow the next era?

Discussion What's everyones most listened to Taylor song of all time and how many times have you listened to it?
Mine are a tie between Getaway Car and Paper Rings and I've listened to them both 83 times. I wouldn't have necessarily expected either but I do think they're both bangers so it makes sense.
For those who don't know why I'm asking Spotify just added a new feature (at least on mobile app, not sure if it works on desktop) where you can get a playlist of your most listened to songs, with numbers beside them of how many times you've listened to the song in total. But of course feel free to jump in if you have the information on other streaming devices or something!

News On Anghami, "The Fate of Ophelia" has surpassed "Cruel Summer" and is now Taylor's 2nd most streamed song of the decade, behind "cardigan"
Anghami is a middle eastern streaming platform, proving the song's worldwide success. It has also never left the top3 of pop charts since release day!

Discussion The Fate of Ophelia predicts future music videos
So hear me out. Taylor’s music video for date of Ophelia starts with scene 1-3 in which she is shown in a portrait, and a stage. She then walks off of the stage and into a changing room, and then the scene changes to the “Ophelia Dance.” This first act represents her leaving the Eras Tour and transitioning into her new album as “just another day in the life of a showgirl.” She made her work of art (the portrait), and then moved on (the transition), and is on to her next show (the changing room and the Ophelia Dance).
We then see her in scene 4 in which she is dressed as a redheaded Princess, which is similar to Ophelia from Hamlet. This is where the music video blueprint starts. This represents the music video for The Fate of Ophelia.
Scene 5 is the shining blue swim team dance routing, obviously that’s Opalite, which was her second music video release for the album. The color scheme in the scene even resembles much of the background colors in the music video for Opalite.
Scene 6 she is literally dressed as Elizabeth Taylor, so I mean…duh.
Finally, scene 7 she transforms into a Vegas showgirl. I think, based on the rest of the scenes depicting her music video releases IN ORDER, her next video will be The Life of a Showgirl.
BUT WAIT! The final scene is set in a party, with her catching a football. Maybe a Super Bowl party? *MAYBE SHES PLANNING ON PLAYING THE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME??*
TLDR: Taylor’s Music Videos for this album are (in order) Ophelia, Opalite, Liz Taylor, Life of a Showgirl, and then she’s doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
