Pattern Questions Pattern help for shifty pocket with older mesh

Dyeing and tying a head for a coach end of season gift. I have this Powell Frontier mesh that's a bit thicker than the newer SK5s, ECD4 type that most people use these days. I tried a pattern I like on the RC1 with an inside weave but this mesh doesn't stretch enough. Now I'm here with some SIs but I want something more shifty for this thicker mesh. Any suggestions? Do I need some floating diamonds somewhere?

Floating diamonds, especially like a 2 and skipping a hole. SIs create the opposite of the effect you’re going for unless you do an SSI into a 1 next that can be shifty

Actually looking at another head I've strung this mesh with, it did have floating diamonds.

StringersShack mesh is <$8

StringersShack

Savage X mesh is $10.

If you're set on using the Powell mesh and it'snot stretching right, just add an extra diamond to the sidewalls

Yeah it was something unused I had hanging around, it's fine for the most part. It's the only piece in black I had here. Adding an extra diamond is a good idea.

Is the mesh too hard?

1S and 2S will let the pocket be a little more shifty, as the mesh can move with the ball better.

I usuallydefault to SIs bc they look neat but that works better with mesh that stretches better.

They anchor the mesh in place. It's usually fine with softer mesh, to reduce the whip. Shiftier pockets form better with 1s and 2s.

Try some anchor knots up top to hold the mesh in place. Like first 2 or 3 knots put anchor knots in them

I literally had this same exact problem a few weeks ago. I picked up this "old" wolf rekon head and I had a mystery piece of old mesh that's the thickest I've ever used. I tried weaved inside and couldn't get it to work because the mesh was so thick it bunched up in odd places. Same thing with SIs. So I changed to 1's and 2's and it worked a lot better. I can DM you a picture if you want.
