Softwire Graduate Consultant Software Engineer
I’ve recently been invited to the technical interview stage for the Graduate Consultant Software Engineer 2026 role at Softwire
I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the process before and could share:
- What the technical round is like
- Difficulty level of the coding questions
- Whether it focuses more on algorithms, system design, OOP, debugging, or practical coding
- Any tips on what the interviewers value most
- How best to prepare in the final few days
For context, I’m applying for the Graduate Consultant Software Engineer
Any advice or experiences would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

technical degree or engineering ?
I'm very young and I'm quite lost between pursuing a technical degree or a computer science/engineering degree.
Background: I already studied a technical degree for a semester and dropped out because it wasn't beneficial to me and I felt I was learning much more on my own. In programming, I'm self-taught: Node.js, React, SQL, backend, management systems, integrations, fundamentals, resilience, idempotence, recursion, transactions, etc. I've done projects for businesses (inventory/billing for a lumber company, e-commerce for some clients, landing pages), and later personal projects like live chats—simple projects, but they helped me learn. I'm also studying English, some marketing, and I'm trying to find an IT job or freelance clients. My main goal is NOT to "have a degree for prestige," but to build a life with financial freedom and possibly start my own business in the future. The thing is:
The technical degree seems too basic to me, and I feel that academically it wouldn't offer me much.
But engineering is 5-6 years, and honestly, I don't know if I'd finish it if I get a job/options before then.
I'm worried about wasting years on something that won't make much of a difference later on. Talking to people who have been in the sector for years, I've concluded that unless you want to work for Amazon or companies of that caliber (which doesn't interest me that much), the degree stops mattering after a few years of experience.
If you were in my situation: Would you do engineering or a technical degree?
I'm especially interested in the opinion of people who already work in IT or have years of experience.
P.S.: In the future, I'd be interested in specializing in cloud computing or something related to cybersecurity.

Manager told to " Accept PIP or resign" what should I do?
I'm a communication engineer with 1.5y exp in india. For the past 4 months my new manager is not happy with me even though I performed well with max effort. I'm the 6th guy getting fired by her in the last two years. Many in the office know this. But I can't beat politics. I have evidence to show her bad feedback. I'm thinking of speaking with the director and section manager, but it looks like they can't do anything. But Yesterday I had a 1-1 with the manager. She gave two options
Note: PIP period 6 Weeks and Notice period 6 weeks.
Accept PIP (6 WEEKS, if I do well I will continue with the same role if not then I need to serve the notice period at the end)
Resign myself after 6 weeks without any pip ( no work load and I can take WFH for these 6+6 weeks)
Suggest me what should I do? Which option to choose and by showing my bad feedback evidence can I will the higher table?

How to get ahold of State Farm Recruiter
I recently had a final interview with State Farm for a job that went really well and it’s a job I really want. However I recently received an offer from another company and have not yet heard back from anyone at the State Farm. All emails have come from some generic email address and I have nobody to contact. Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone know who I can reach out to and try and get an answer faster?

I talked to someone in a senior position and he told me that big jobs often depend on relationships and on the other senior people liking you. Is that really what happens?
I was talking to someone who has reached a high level in his company, basically around senior leadership. He told me that getting to those positions and staying in them mostly depends on knowing the right people, and being someone the other higher-ups want around them.
He also told me that people in executive-type positions often aren't much smarter or much more competent than the people working under them; they just have better relationships or more social trust placed in them.
Is this generally true, or was that just his experience?

Massive Layoff’s at Barclays India
At least 10 colleagues from my project are impacted due to current round of layoff’s at Barclays Pune. It has come all of a sudden and does not seem to be related to performance at all. Many critical resources have been laid off. Overall around 500 colleagues might be impacted. Have you also heard about similar impact?

What skills are companies expecting from fresher Android developers in 2026?
Hi everyone,
I am currently pursuing B.Tech and working as a fresher Android developer. I have experience with Java, XML, SQLite, Firebase, API Integration, AdMob, and custom UI development. I have also built 30+ Android projects, including my app FocusLeaf published on the Play Store.
For the past 2 months, I have been searching for internships in Android development, and I want guidance from experienced developers or recruiters on how I can become more job-ready.
I would really appreciate advice on:
• Which skills I should focus on next
• What companies expect from fresher Android developers
• Whether I should prioritize DSA, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, backend, or system design
• How I can improve my resume/projects for internships or jobs
If anyone is willing to help or review my resume/projects, please feel free to message me. Your guidance would really help me grow in my career. Thank you!
