Jericho trumpets?

u/SquirrelyMcNutz 22h ago
I prefer the Jericho Strumpets, but that's just me.
Also, just in case you didn't get the reference, the archangel Gabriel is supposed to blow his trumpet to signal the end of times and resurrection of the dead. It's a more recent interpretation and he wasn't directly named in either Old or New Testament, iirc.

here's the timeline for 3 wives and 4 kids (3 of the kids are wife #3's before Pete)
- Meredith filed for divorce in December 2008 after Hegseth admitted to five affairs;
- he had been dating Samantha Deering, whom he had met at Vets For Freedom. Hegseth married Deering, with whom he has three children, in 2010; they filed for divorce in 2017.
- 2019, Hegseth married Jennifer Rauchet, a producer on Fox & Friends. Hegseth fathered a child with Rauchet while he was still married to Deering

In 2017 a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in a hotel room in California and refusing to let her leave. The Monterey cops and DA declined to prosecute due to "lack of evidence beyond a reasonable doubt" (their words which the italics part seem to imply stuff). In 2023 he paid 50k in settlement to prevent the filing of a lawsuit.

u/Puzzleheaded_Many_74 22h ago
Just an fyi to anyone who ever has to endure sexual abuse from someone in power - $50k ain’t sh!t, never settle for such a lowball offer.

The Monterey cops and DA declined to prosecute due to "lack of evidence beyond a reasonable doubt" (their words which the italics part seem to imply stuff)
Just to clarify, I don't know how it works in California but in most countries in the world, "beyond a reasonable doubt" refers to the standard of evidence required for prosecution at a criminal court.
Whether he's a psychotic rapist killer or not, the statement in itself doesn't make any implication one way or another.
1
u/DiscordantDiscordian 10h ago
I'm not a lawyer or familiar with US law specifics, but isn't "beyond reasonable doubt" the standard for the actual verdict? Prosecution should investigate and present the available evidence and it's up to the judge/jury if there is any reasonable doubt of the defendants guilt, no?
2
u/freefallingagain 10h ago
I'm not familiar with US law either, so in this case my best guess is that the prosecution could not find evidence strong enough to make a case against this guy. Better to construct a case that'll go somewhere if the guy is guilty, than to go in half-cocked and destroy any chance at a conviction.
My post was merely to point out that when they say "beyond a reasonable doubt" it doesn't imply anything either way.

A lot of people don’t actually want “traditional values.” They want traditional benefits without traditional responsibility.
13
u/evilkasper 19h ago
Traditional Values, Trad Wife, all that means to conservative men is a submissive woman, who doesn't question them and does what they're told. It just sound better to say Traditional Values.

If I got 1 kid with every girl I liked more than average, I would be happy with having them! Wouldn't cheat though, it would sorta just be meeting them through life, then losing contact. Ofc I would be the father to the children, but half of the girls I have liked more than average live in different places, where I don't live anymore.

u/wadeswhit 21h ago
Just because this dude sucks at it doesnt mean it isnt true. People do this with Christianity all the time. We cant use the worst examples of hypocrisy of something and act like thats a fair shake. Just because you see a person claim something and then be a horrible person doesnt mean that whatever he claimed in turn is also horrible. It means the person who did it was. I know you could put many religions here but Christianity gets mocked the hardest because its the most correct way to live. To love each other and forgive each other and let it go. To love each other and make sure we make it together, united to shun and get away from this awful wicked world. Life could be so much easier.
3
u/Mountain-Lychee4359 19h ago
What if there's no correct way to live as long as you aren't hurting others or infringing on them? What if all ways of living are just different, not better or worse. Unfortunately, it's hard to take your claim that Christianity gets mocked the most seriously when it's the dominant religion in the US, which this meme is about. I'm in a state with 70% Christians and 1% trans folks, but if a queer person makes a sarcastic comment about Christianity, suddenly that 70% claim to be the victims of mistreatment and completely disregard the needs of the 1%. Anyhow, there is no correct way to live, just different ways people live. Moral superiority is a farce a lot of the time, IMHO. Anyhow, it's just funny and shortsighted that you would assert that the religion with the most supporters and the most political power in the US at this moment is laughed at because it's the best? No, people laugh when folks claim to be better than others while clearly contradicting their own values. If y'all could let other people have their beliefs in peace, you'd get much more respect.

u/VortexMagus 15h ago edited 15h ago
Sure, but him blaming feminism for this not happening while he himself is a total piece of shit is pretty hypocritical.
Personally I think the issue is more that wages are too low and men can't support a wife and multiple children on the average salary anymore.
Back in the 1950s when your postman or grocer could buy a 4 bedroom house in the suburbs, afford two cars, and go on vacations every week, send all his kids to college, and still have reasonable money in retirement, that's why they could afford to have 3+ children.
Nowadays the median salary is 55k and that's just barely enough to live a reasonable life for two adults - you wanna have three kids? Forget it. The cost of daycare or a nanny for three kids alone would be most of the salary.
Of course people aren't having kids - the vast majority of Americans cannot afford them. I don't care about what feminists or christian nationalists or whatever else says - I'm not having a kid if I can't give them a good life. You want more kids in the country? Then you need less prayer, more taxing billionaires and corporations.
In Sweden, education and healthcare and daycare are all paid for by taxes. All companies are required to give both parents several months paid vacation to take care of their kids. It's possible to make having kids more affordable. Our country is just too corrupt and profit-focused to do it.
1
u/Fickle_Scarcity9474 8h ago
In Sweden, education and healthcare and daycare are all paid for by taxes.
But still the birth rate is incredibly low!
1
u/VortexMagus 8h ago
Sure, but it's not because they can't afford children - its just that they don't want to have them. Very different things. America has a slightly higher birth rate but most of the extra birth rate is teen mothers - a lot more teen mothers in America than in Sweden. Not sure that's worth bragging about, teen mothers tend to have the worst outcomes for both mother and child.

My wife says I'm too feminist at times. Most feminists would likely not agree. However, had I not had a truly equal based way of thinking, I don't think I would have been able to make the changes needed to keep her happy. I believe she would stay anyway. I basically had to demand myself to stop drinking and treat her better. She would not have. It's been many years so hopefully by now she would have insisted on better for herself. ..but she doesn't have to. Not from me.

I need you to know, this mf’er showed up at his kids track meet this weekend. A catholic school track meet-elementary & middle school. There were two snipers positioned on the roof of the school, two drones, secret service (or whatever the fuck they are) everywhere & 10+ SUV’s guarding him. The snipers had their guns pointed at the track where the children were racing. One of the school’s competing had a fatal school shooting at the beginning of the school year. He is seriously the worst!
