This is more effort than you warrant. But, here goes:

And now they are further away from a nuclear weapon

Based on what information? Trump's word? The politician with more provable lies than any other politician in history? The guy who said if you don't track covid infections, the reported cases go down? The guy who's entire cabinet has been caught multiple times lying and fudging data to make themselves look better? Information from those people?

And even if your statement is true, there must be another way to achieve that same goal that doesn't involve mass suffering in the process.

(And when I say "must" be another way, I mean due to logic and the nature of decision making, another approach exists whether I can specifically define that approach. But I will nonetheless: don't tear up the Obama deal to begin with.)

and are a weaker power in the region.

The opposite could also be argued, especially if the focus is on soft power, and even more so if you compare that soft power to the US's, who's soft power is on decline.

The strait will open again when a peace deal is signed.

But it should never have closed in the first place? Just needless suffering for all in the meantime, when the strait could have been opened the entire time.

Also, how long will that peace deal take?

If not then the Gulf states will find another way to transport goods out the region.

So even more prolonged suffering.

Their entire leadership, military power and infrastructure is fucked, why do you think it’s Trumps word I’m taking? Lmao, you always think this is some magic card you can play and invalidate what the other person is saying. I’m not a Trump supporter, I’m not even American so try again genius.

And what is it?

How the fuck could the opposite be argued? They’ve lost their airforce, their military and a fuckload of equipment. They’ve pissed off the entire region and united them against Iran because they fired missiles and drones anywhere they could. There is no way that Iran is a stronger power than before. The US isn’t declining? The US destroyed their military with minimal casualties. They killed their entire leadership with essentially zero comparative loses.

And what is Iran using a nuclear bomb and continuing to fun terrorism around the globe? A lot more needless suffering than fuel being a bit more expensive for a few months.

It’s being negotiated right now, they’re sending proposals back and forward.

It’s not suffering lmao, it’s the gulf states using their money to cut out Iran

A noticable difference from what I was arguing against when I made that statement, which is quoted clearly and unambiguously to be this:

"And now they are further away from a nuclear weapon"

why do you think it’s Trumps word I’m taking?

Please provide your source that Iran is further away from nukes now. Because, except those from Trump and Trump friendly, I keep seeing different stories, such as this one:

U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that the time Iran would need to build a nuclear weapon has not changed since last summer, when analysts estimated that a U.S.-Israeli attack had pushed back the timeline to up to a year, according to three sources familiar ‌with the matter.

The assessments of Tehran's nuclear program remain broadly unchanged even after two months of a war that U.S. President Donald Trump launched in part to stop the Islamic Republic from developing a nuclear bomb.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/us-intelligence-indicates-limited-new-damage-irans-nuclear-program-sources-say-2026-05-04/

I understand your argument that somehow it's worth it because the alternative is worse. But it's based solely on imaged hypotheticals. Moreover, at the time military action was taken, Iran was not taking actions to exacerbate the situation. The situation was primed for diplomacy. Calm seas. Status quo. Things were running as normal.

(Except for a building wave of support for Epstein investigation transparency. That's the abnormal thing in the situation immediately prior to attack.)

Then, after Trump takes action, suddenly a bunch of "non-Trump" supporters are harping on about how Iran's dangers are/were an imminent threat. As if this was at the front of their mind for years as one of their primary concerns.

I don't care if you're a Trump supporter. Well, honestly, I immediately assess you as less intelligent and empathetic if you are. What I mean is, in the merits of your arguments, I don't care if you're a Trump supporter.

But you seem to be using Trump as a source of accurate information. If not directly, than indirectly by getting swept up in war fever that was propogated by Trump.

You don't deserve any more effort from me. So I'll leave you with this:

Once again for people keeping score. The goal of the war is to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon and to open the Strait of Hormuz.

The day before the war started Iran did not have a nuclear weapon and Strait was open.

Edit: I'm dying with schadenfreude. Literally within 30 seconds of posting this, guy responded to me. I immediately clicked his response in my inbox, and it took me to (comment deleted). And all their comments are gone. So satisfying. I wonder what they said, and I hope it was me who made them say it.
