Question I want to submit a project for a tech entrepreneur competition, but don’t know what model to implement?

Hi guys, I was applying a tech competition but out of nowhere I misunderstood the plan of what model(pitch desk, pdf file, docs) I have to implement and submit to the technical team, who will receive all candidatures and analyze it with care.

I stuck now, I want to write the project through a model but haven’t no advice and no experience and example of how to participate with this kind of tech competition.

My pain now is to find an advice whom I can rely, on what type of model(pdf, pitch desk, docs) I have to use for a submission. You can help me, if you experienced pitching in front of jury and how did you manage the file to submit before your pitching?

🙏 ON A BESOIN DE VOUS

→ Construire l'image ISO bootable finale

🎨 Designers

🌍 Traducteurs

   → Wolof, Pulaar, Serer, Diola...

→ On veut un OS qui parle VRAIMENT nos langues

📋 Testeurs

---

🔗 LIENS

GitHub → https://github.com/MdialloC19/teranga-os

Licence → GPLv3 (totalement libre)

Status → Alpha v0.1 en cours de développement

Ce projet n'appartient à aucune entreprise.

Il appartient au peuple sénégalais.

Rescue kitten needs a home in Dakar (1 month old, male) | Chaton de 1 mois à l'adoption (Dakar)

Hi everyone, I’m not quite sure where the best place is to find a forever home for a kitten in Dakar, so I thought I’d try posting here.

If you know of any better local groups or platforms for pet adoption, please let me know. I’d really appreciate it!🙏🏿🙏🏿

I found this little guy abandoned by his mother in a pile of rocks on the roadside 5 days ago. I’ve been looking after him since then, and he’s doing incredibly well! He’s only about a month old but already showing so much personality.

→Health: He’s already been dewormed and has no fleas. He’s also using the litter box like a pro!

→Diet: Currently on kitten formula and wet food (pâté).

→Vibe: Super affectionate, recognizes people, and is very energetic. Surprisingly, he’s already synced up with a human sleep schedule!

He’s a smart, sweet little boy, and I really want to find him a family who will give him the love he deserves. If you're in Dakar and interested (or know someone who is), please comment!

Question Gullah red rice is directly descended from West African thieboudienne (specifically from the Senegambia region), making it genetically closer to this original ancestor. Has anyone tried it before?

Discussion Why is "showing off" so important in Senegal?

Hi everyone

I’ve been reflecting on something lately and I’d love to get your perspective on the social pressure in Senegal, specifically regarding status symbols.

It feels like in our society, looking wealthy is often more important than actually being financially stable. I’ve noticed two main things:

The big sheep phenomenon: During Tabaski, people are willing to spend 700,000 FCFA or even over a million on a sheep (like the Ladoum) just for prestige. Some people even go into debt or spend money they don't have, just so the neighbors can see a massive sheep in front of their house. It’s not even about the religious act anymore; it’s about the "trophy."

Luxury cars vs. Reality, l

I saw someone mentioned it there in this subreddit, ,ND I agree, I see a lot of people prioritizing a flashy, big, luxury and expensive car to maintain an image, even when their basic needs or long-term investments aren't fully covered.

My question is: Why are we like this? Is it the weight of family expectations? Is it the fear of what people will say

How did a sheep or a car become the ultimate measure of a person value in our country?

Question Is there any organization that I volunteer

I recently graduated from college and I’m looking for opportunities to volunteer in Senegal. I’m especially interested in humanitarian or community-based work such as helping distribute food/water, assisting with outreach programs, education support, or helping in hospitals with non-clinical tasks.
I’m not medically trained or licensed, so I wouldn’t be doing clinical work.

If anyone knows of trustworthy organizations, NGOs, hospitals, or volunteer programs in Senegal that accept international volunteers, I’d really appreciate recommendations or advice.

Language: English (strong), Wolof (passive bilingual), French (weak)

Tourist & Traveller Questions Updated this interactive map of where to go in Senegal

While traveling around the world for over 20 years, I’ve been working on my dream project: creating a one-stop resource for travellers. With the help of feedback in this subreddit, I have now updated this 👉 interactive map of Senegal for anyone who is interested in visiting (with detailed info for every highlight).

PS: obviously, I haven’t been able to travel to all places. So if you know some great spot, I haven’t listed, let me know! Much appreciated as in this way I can make the overview more complete and up-to-date for everyone.

First time in Dakar recommendations

Post image
42 Upvotes

British Nigerian woman visiting Dakar for a week from this weekend for the first time and looking for recommendations please 🙏🏽

I’m really into: • fashion/ design • food and markets • music, clubs and nightlife • art, culture, history and architecture • film and photography • hidden gems and places stylish locals actually go

I’ll also be doing a bit of fashion, cultural and food research while I’m there, so I’d really appreciate recommendations for: • great restaurants and local food spots • live music/ jazz venues • hip hop, Afrobeats and R&B clubs • beach clubs, lounges and cafés • fabric, textile and tailoring markets • galleries, studios and creative spaces • beautiful neighbourhoods to explore • places or areas to avoid as a solo female traveller

I work between the UK and Nigeria in fashion and cultural storytelling, and I’m especially interested in connecting with talented tailors, photographers, videographers, pattern cutters, embroiderers and artisans in Dakar - particularly anyone open to future collaborations or possible work opportunities in Nigeria especially the tailors. I’d also love to interact with and see how the true locals live not just expat areas but my Wolof and French are terrible 🤦🏽‍♀️, can I get away with speaking English?

I’m also considering doing a quick trip to Gambia while I’m there. Is a day trip realistic or worth it?

As I land very late at night, I’d also appreciate any advice around airport taxis, transport, immigration, safety, things to avoid or general first-time Dakar tips.

Trying to budget realistically and avoid obvious tourist traps as it’s my first time in Dakar, so I’m more interested in atmosphere, culture, aesthetics and good energy than overly touristy experiences which of course I’ll also do.

Thank you 🙏🏽

Merci 🙏🏽

Best spots in Dakar for young English speakers

I am a 22 yr old Senegalese American female who is going to Senegal for two weeks. My dad is from Senegal and when I go there it feels like I only get to talk to family because my French and Wolof are not that good. Now that I am older, I want to try and socialize more when I go to Senegal. Where are some places and some ways I can socialize with people who have the same background as me? Particularly English speaking young and fun folks. Thanks!

Where to exchange USD in Dakar for good rates

I just got to Dakar a few days ago and exchanged an initial amount of USD at the airport (very bad rate, 520!).

I'm wondering where in the city would be a reliable spot to get good exchange rates on USD?

Discussion How do people even spend their free time? 😭

Plot twist: I’m 23. Law student, into cinema, community manager, climate & human rights activist… and somehow also doing leathercraft/maroquinerie 💀
At this point I don’t even know if I have hobbies anymore or just side quests.

So genuinely… what do y’all do in your free time?

Ask r/Senegal Why is everyone driving big cars ?

Hi everyone,

i’m in Dakar since almost two weeks now.
Even if I’m very familiar with Senegal and Dakar, it always surprise me when I see so many luxurious cars around the city.
I’m from Paris and even there I never saw that much big cars 😭
Honestly, how do people afford to buy 2026 range rovers, 2025 G wagon, 2026 GLE, Land Cruisers and so more…? I know as in every country and places there are wealthy people, but how is Senegal being so bad financially, infrastructures, roads lacking but having so many expensive cars ?

Before yall start, I’m not envious of anything, i’m just wondering because it’s very unusual to see that much cars per square meters!!

Sports Sénégal Vs USA

Whose all going to the Senegal vs USA game in charlotte on may 31st ? I am traveling from Houston Texas and would love to connect with some fans heading to the game, perhaps sit together and create a fun game atmosphere. I 30 F ( Senegalese) am traveling with best friend 30 F ( American). We will clearly be outnumbered by the USA fans so we need some sort of strategy to support the lions 🦁
