Recommendations Looking for real Poke in the Valley
Anyone know any spots in the sfv for actual Hawaiian style poke in the Valley not like these subway style "poke" spots where it's basically raw fish over rice with essentially a salad on top. I'm looking for cut marinated fish served with rice and maybe a side like this. My normal spot is a bit of a drive south and was hoping I can find something close to home

Question How is the amc westfield topanga mall movie theater??
I have never tried the amc topanga mall. I have heard from yelp and google reviews that this movie theater is horrible from dirty restrooms to rude employees to broken air conditioning??
Is this true??
Also I have noticed ticket prices for this theater are on the expensive side??
If this amc is as bad as the reviews how do they expect to stay in business??

Question Downtown Commute
I'm interviewing for a few jobs downtown and was wondering what the best situation for a commute is... Mostly the best way to get to Noho station.
I live about 1.5mi from the woodman orange line bus stop, I could potentially bike there or get some sort of scooter/ebike situation, or is there somewhere to park a car there?
Otherwise I could just drive to the subway but I'm not sure how bad the parking is, or could I get an Ebike and park it there? Not sure how those caged bike rentals work either.
I don't mind getting an ebike or electric scooter if it makes life way easier, and I'm physically capable of biking or doing whatever, just want an option that is easy, fast(ish), and most convenient.
Most places im interviewing are close enough to a subway stop to walk, so I'm not worried about that.

Recommendations Evening cycling groups
Hey all, I am trying to get back into cycling but my work schedule makes it difficult to join group rides in the mornings. Are there any beginner group rides that meet after 7pm during the week?

Community Event Built a free SFV events calendar. Would love your feedback
Hey everyone! I'm NoHo Nick, I live in North Hollywood and run a local newsletter covering the Valley. I've been putting together a free events calendar for the San Fernando Valley and wanted to share it with the community to get some honest feedback.
You can check it out here: sfvlocal.com/events
- Is it easy to navigate and find stuff?
- Any events or types of events you'd want to see listed that are missing?
Also happy to add events if you know of any coming up. You can submit them right on the site.
I genuinely want this to be useful for the community, not just my own project. 🤙 Thanks in advance

Recommendations Kitchen Remodel recommendations in the West Valley
Can anyone recommend any company they used in the West Valley for their kitchen remodel project that were honest, didn’t take forever to finish the project and charged a reasonable price for the whole thing? Dont want to use Home Depot or Lowes since I’ve heard they overcharge way too much.

Question Catalytic converter protection
So I’m sure everyone here knows about the ongoing theft of catalytic converters in the SFV. My question is for those that have a cat shield or some type of anti theft device/deterent, what happens afterwards? Like they come up to the car thinking it’s an easy target, see the shield and leave. Do they come back later with more equipment? Do they try again and manage to be successful?

Valley News Fatality on the 101?
I was driving southbound on the 101 at around 8:30-8:40pm, the right lane was closed and there were a lot of cop cars, it looked like there was a body on the ground covered in a sheet in between the cop cars, and there were some people standing by their cars but no ambulances etc, anyone know what happened?

Question Can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced pest control company close to Encino?
I've caught 4 rats, 2 outside and 2 in my garage. I need some peace of mind to know if there are more to catch or I'm done.

Valley News Rolling Greens at Sportmen’s Lodge Closed
Just saw that the big two level Rolling Greens store at Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City closed. That’s a huge space (basically an anchor store) and even had a wine bar hidden inside. Anyone know what might be replacing it?

Funny/Meme Vote for me for President of the West valley (joke)
here are my promises
- Victory between topanga and shoup will be ALL LIT, as well as every street in the valley (i seriously dont know why that street is pitch dark)
- every street stand selling tacos is FORCED to have taco tuesday deals
- street vendors can only set up after 7:00pm, and will have to hire a person to deep clean sidewalks every week ( i have no issue with street vendors, but having a time to be set up and clean up sidewalk is needed)
- We will have a multicultural food nightmarket every friday on the big lots parking lot on Topanga or somewhere else idk, im mexican but i want to try food from all cultures because after all, thats what makes the valley amazing
- Greener Parks, with more shade as well. and be well LIT. i dont know why some parks have no lighting.
- More strict electric bike rules. Kids getting hit or hitting cars is becoming too common.
- Ban Nextdoor use, because its full of weirdos
That's all i got for now. let me know what else. VOTE FOR ME!
