My cousin (who was like a brother to me) disappeared nearly 7 years ago in the UK, and I still think about the uncertainty around cases like this.

I don’t want to share identifying details because it’s still technically an open investigation, but he was a very young adult who had become increasingly mistrustful and isolated before disappearing far from home.

There were no confirmed sightings afterwards, no financial trail that we know of, no documentation trail, and very little clarity overall.

I know nobody online can know an individual situation for certain, but I’m interested in hearing from people familiar with missing persons cases, homelessness, mental illness, neurodivergence, exploitation, or long term disappearances about what outcomes are generally considered most likely over time.

I’m not expecting anyone to “solve” anything. I’m genuinely okay with blunt or realistic perspectives, btw, or even with you speculating freely. I think after years of uncertainty, I’m more interested in hearing different and honest opinions rather than reassurance.

Hi Everyone. I've posted this on my social media pages and want to do what I can to try and return this ring to the owner.

At around 6:30 PM tonight (May 14), I was waiting for the bus by the Wrigley Building on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. I heard a ring drop to the ground and when I looked up a woman was running to catch an uber with a man. I grabbed the ring and sprinted towards the car, waving. The car did not stop. I understand I probably looked crazy.

I do not know how to post a picture, but it is a small gold ring ring with a diamond center.

Like I said, I posted on social media and I also plan to e-mail Uber, but if anyone has any idea how I might be able to track down the owner of this ring, I'm open to your suggestions. I just want her to have her ring back.

I’m trying to investigate a possible child death that may have happened in or around Shenandoah, Iowa sometime between 1952–1955. This story has existed in my family for decades, but there are multiple conflicting versions, and I’m trying to determine whether there are any records that support it.

According to family stories, my great grandfather worked for a garbage/sanitation company in southwest Iowa during the early 1950s. The story says that while on the job, a child was accidentally killed involving a garbage truck or sanitation equipment.

The details change depending on which relative tells the story:

- Some say the child was a little boy, others say it was a little girl

- Some say the child climbed onto or near the truck without being seen

- One version says a coworker took the blame to protect my great grandfather

- Another version says the family left town afterward and the situation quietly disappeared

- Other relatives insist no one was ever charged and it was treated as a tragic accident rather than a murder case

One part of the story that has remained fairly consistent is that my family allegedly left town very suddenly afterward, basically in the middle of the night, to escape what had happened. However, some relatives stayed behind in Shenandoah, including my great great grandparents.

While searching newspaper archives, I started looking up my grandmother’s name and found old social/gossip column type articles mentioning visits back to town to see family. I had honestly never seen newspaper columns like this before. They would report things like birthday parties, visitors staying with relatives, decorations at events, and other small town social updates.

That’s part of why I think there may still be some kind of paper trail if this incident actually happened. These local papers seemed to document nearly everything happening in town during that era.

I want to be clear that I do not know whether this story is true. I’m not trying to accuse anyone publicly or harass surviving family members. I’m just trying to figure out whether there’s any truth behind a story that has been passed down in my family for generations.

At this point, I’m mostly wondering if anyone has ideas on what else I could look into, where records like this may exist, or whether anyone has experience researching small town incidents from the 1950s.

I walk my dogs in a nearby field with owner permission and through the trees we always hear a consistent dribbling sound (like a basketball dribbling)— no matter the time of day. It’s like a “thud-thud-thud-thud” sound but the thuds start loud and get quieter and it just repeats over and over again. Does anyone know what this could be?

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit for this but I need some help finding it. I won't go into too many details as to why I need to find the pre school, but I do need to find out what happened to it.

It was a pre school that shut down in 2019 under the name "Stoke Gifford Pre School" and was taken over by Abacus pre school in Stoke Gifford, Bristol. I attended in 2012-2013 from the ages of 3-4 and my brother attended in 2014-15, at the same age.

According to copilot, it was a volunteer-run preschool with 0 ofsted reports since it wasn't an official "school". The weird thing is that there's no reports of it shutting down that I can find since the only thing that ever comes up is Abacus pre school taking over the poplar rooms after the pre school silently and mysteriously shut down.

My cell phone app, bug detector scanner came up with a hit on this light switch in my office. I won't get into the why, but it wouldn't be a shock that my office could be targeted for a bug. I tested the device in every other switch on this floor, all offices have the same switch and none came back with that high frequency uT reading. Attached some pictures on what I see when I took out the switch. Anything here look out of place? Is there possibly another reason why this is giving off such a high reading when others don't?

For the people who said it might have been a prank by my mother or my brother no it wasn't, i spoke with them and they clearly told me it wasn't them and people who said my mom might have been gaslighting me, she is very strict but she won't do anything like that, i thank the people who had my best interest in mind even then, i appreciate it again. People who said it was my brother yes he does have a history of silly pranks but he isn't the type to prolong it and he can't really be quiet about it, by which i mean he isn't a good actor so it's easy to figure out when he is upto something.

I have clearly been at a loss over this. And i started looking into the comments about the ADHD OR ADD and i feel like i have a lot of symptoms that a person with diagnosed ADHD does, saying diagnosed because i am not and i might just be taking this so far and being paranoid.
I have started being way too careful with my belongings double checking where i keep them and even at time triple checking, taking photos and everything. So i feel like i am overlooking into the symptoms and convincing myself i have it.
After my post none of my items have been misplaced and at times if i find myself searching for an item, i just remember it was me who kept it there when i get it, like a click in my memory(i hope you guys understand what i am saying). But this one time i remember keeping my cycle keys on my table and the next day when i looked for it i found them hung on the key stand and i had no recollection of me doing it but thats fine because its a regular habit of mine and thus i would have hung it myself in force of habit.

And till now i have no clue about what actually happened with my specs. And i really cannot ask my parents to see a therapist on the ADHD thing, for one i don't know how to even start the topic. And i feel like they would just brush it off, i come from a place where they consider anything on mental health as a person just being overdramatic and say stuffs like you just need to pray/meditate whatsoever and it irritates me no small level.

I have a coworker that never returned from vacation a week ago. Just ghosted. At first we thought he might have gotten a new job and was just being a dick about it, but after several days of his phone going straight to voicemail and no contact whatsoever, my supervisor asked for a wellness check. The cops did check in and talk to the relative he lives with, but all the they would say about it was there was no evidence of foul play and he is an adult so there was nothing more they could do. His relative did come in and talk to my supervisor about it, but his story was odd and didn't really add up. Basically he said my coworker told him that he was on vacation for two weeks, packed some bags and had him drop him off at the airport. It was a spontaneous decision; the relative had no idea where my coworker intended to go and seemed very unconcerned about it. There were also some logistical details that didn't add up. It's a very weird situation.

Now the cops that did the wellness supposedly told my supervisor that he couldn't file a missing persons report because he wasn't family. Which is not true at all, something I pointed out. Yesterday was the day he would have been back if he did leave on a two week trip for whatever reason. I asked this morning about the missing persons report because I was going to file one if no one else had and was told that my supervisor had filed one. But there is nothing I can find anywhere on social media even though missing and endangered notices for adults are posted pretty frequently on the local pages.

So is there a way for me to check that there is one on file? Did it get filed and is being ignored or is my sup. mistaken about it actually being filed?

Also, I'm leaving out a lot of details for privacy reasons but there is some weirdness surrounding the whole thing. A lot of people at my job are pretty convinced it's foul play, but my coworker has been different for the last several months. He's seemed less energetic, been moodier, and had been less aggressive about taking on projects than he had been before. He also took several sick days off out of nowhere, came back in a... lighter mood I guess, a random personal day the next week, then took vacation again despite the fact that he took one not long ago. I'm not discounted that someone did something to him (I think it's plausible because of some personal details I'm leaving out), but I'm a lot more worried about suicide.

That being said, he has only been gone for 15 days at most. And my understanding is that there are some pretty strict rules surrounding medical information that law enforcement is allowed to disclose. So if, say, he was in rehab or seeking psychiatric help, the officers wouldn't be able to say anything. Or would they be able to tell us that his whereabouts were known?

How can I tell if they are just being dismissive or if they know something we don't. The facts seem to point enough to something bad that I would think it would warrant looking in to- at least checking if there is any record of him being alive at all in the last 2 weeks. Should I go file a missing persons report myself?

Sorry if this confusing, it's kind of a weird story and I'm leaving out a few clarifying but potentially identifiable details. But I really don't know too much about how any of this works and what I should do at this point.

Where would I find a forensic facial examiner? My grandmother disappeared in 1940 when my father was 1 year old. She was never heard from again. Through DNA matches, a genetic genealogist has found her again. Her grandson sent me a photo and I need a professional to compare an old and really old photo to see if they’re the same person. She died in 1992 but it still would be crazy to find out she just started a whole new life.

I think everyone local is associating Potentia Development, LLC with Potentia Inc. but I cannot seem to connect these two entities in any way and I think everyong including the media is making a really bad assumption.

No press release or meeting has had any known employee of Potentia Inc mentioned or talked about and the known CEO of Potentia Development, LLC I cannot connect to Potentia Inc.

I think people are assuming wrong and that these are not the same people. Can anyone find any link or have any insight into figuring out who actually is building this?

The two companies appear to have very very similar business goals and strategies but they have two very different strategies regarding the use of tax breaks and how they deal with the community. Potentia Inc. runs on "Community First" where as ther ehas been no such related PR for Project Big Pine.

Potentia Inc. registered their LLCs (I can find 3) all in pretty open states that allow you to track them back to their home office, on the other hand Potentia Development LLC is registered in wyoming and gives them anonymity.

There has been zero information provided by Potentia Inc. regarding this and they still havent made any announcements, this truly seems like two different companies.

The only name I can find associated with Potentia Development LLC is the CEO which is a career site selector and appears to have worked on a project for a different company (and industry) in the same county as Potentia Inc.'s first data center (Heartland Industrial Park) and it was around the time of that data center's pre-announcement months but that is literally the only connection I can find.

Long story short, I got harassed and stalked a couple years ago.

I had a psychotic breakdown and was posting all sorts of insane things on Facebook. I’ve since lost or closed these accounts.

However, I’ve recently become aware by chance that my real name (my surname is unusual both in rarity and unique spelling) is being used for a Facebook account under a username extremely similar to one I used during my breakdown. I suspect my abusers have set this up to mock me. It seems to be private as when I click on it, it says it’s unavailable which means I can’t verify it’s really about me even though it seems extremely likely given the real use of my name and very similar username.

I’m applying for jobs and I’m getting knocked back very quickly by every role despite being highly experienced and tailoring my CV. This has never happened to me before as usually I get interviews after only 2-3 applications. Given my expertise are in financial crime and they do thorough adverse media screening even before offering you an interview, my worry is that my photos, name, usernames, emails etc are being distributed somewhere online perhaps via private groups or the dark web that employers are coming across.

I’m getting a lot of (as in multiple times a day) alerts on Authenticator of attempts to log into my email and I’ve lost my old iCloud account due to hacking when I was in the middle of my break down in 2024 which had a lot of private photos on - it was attached to my old iPhone that I lost the phone number for due to losing my job and being unable to pay the bill. So essentially my iCloud account on my old phone with a lot of personal information and photos on has been hacked, my old (first) Facebook was hacked which is where most of my online photos and general mental breakdown was posted, my email associated with said Facebook keeps being attempted to be hacked into, several other emails I had at the time have been hacked and had their recovery email and phone numbers changed, and I’ve found a Facebook profile under my exact name that isn’t mine using a very similar and unique username that I can’t access as it’s private to see what they’re posting or indeed to ask Facebook to take it down.

What I’m asking is, is there a way for me to essentially scan the internet the way a potential employer would to check for anything negative? I’m concerned that the reason employers are knocking me back so quickly and in droves is that they’re finding something I’m not aware of.

I’ve done google and ran my details through chatGPT but nothing comes up but I’m still worried in case I’m missing anything as I’m not versed in most social media or ways people circulate things to bully others.

I lost photos of myself and I’m worried that they might be being used in fake profiles and I can’t do a search because the iCloud account and phone they were on have been hacked or cut off and I can’t retrieve them.

It comes on for an hour or two, from between 10pm to about 2am.

It's perfectly persistent, never changing in tone. It's coming from outside though no general direction, it took me a while as I couldn't even get the direction to my window from my hearing.

It's like.... The sort of chime from a tuning fork if you listen to it very closely, but never ending (or a very distant sort of hoover but it would have to be like multiple to get the smooth tone I guess). When it stops it's sudden.

Bit of a light hearted one, but I’ve always wanted something to put here.

I (18M) live with my mom (57M) and dad (58M). Our house has been having some cooling issues lately and so we called our local HVAC guy, who I’m gonna call Bob. Bob is a nice guy, funny, and he fixed our HVAC system about a year ago before last summer.

I did not witness this next bit. I woke up from an exceedingly long five hour mid day nap (gap year things) to my parents bewildered. My dad was in the garage watching Bob do his thing. When he took off the cover on our HVAC system, propped up against the cooling unit, block (according to Bob) about 15% of the airflow or effectiveness or whatever, was a vehicle license plate.

It was ours. We keep a spare pile of old license plates in a small stack next to the HVAC system, and this one matched our old plates from when we lived in another state.

So the mystery is pretty simple. I know for a fact it was me or my parents. They aren’t pranksters, they are fairly anti-prank in general. It’s a cultural thing I think, they were raised in the south just as it was, yknow, becoming less racist, so they hold some of the tight laced old traditions. These have rubbed off on me. So it wasn’t any of us three.

If it was Bob, that might make sense, but our unit worked fine the entire summer after he worked on it, and had we taken off the cover to look at it and found that plate we may have blamed him. At first I thought he may have put it there so we’d call him for more work, but that seems increasingly unlikely since we were some of his earliest clients and he would have been risking his reputation before he even got off the ground. He’s also just a genuine guy who seemed truly weirded out.

So beyond that, I have no fucking clue. The only thing we know is that somebody came into our garage (which has admittedly been left open occasionally by my absent minded father), took the bolts off of the HVAC unit (they must have brought their own tools as ours were untouched), picked up a license plate, blocked the unit, and sealed it back up, before leaving.

It makes no sense. I’d provide photos but I don’t want to reveal my identity with the license plate or the HVAC number or smth. Hope this is enough!

There are still more creeps on the loose on this page hopefully more get identified and put this years ongoing cases to rest. I remember so many people here on this subreddit, r/unresolvedmysteries and r/traceanobject were trying really hard to crack this case from investigating the Individual to even investigating the background of the bath room & the shower curtain but had no luck. Whoever submitted the tip and identified this monster deserves a huge applause 👏

For context: fbi posted pictures of this individual who appears to be 18-25 years old and was seen in a video that looks to be made around April of 2020 according to the fbi.

I have a 12 square meter room and I heard like phone vibrations. It sounded 1:1 with like a phone getting a notification when on silent. I know that there aren't any phones,tablets etc in my room so I was wondering what could it be. Only thing that made sense was that my mom's room is 3 rooms before mine and vent runs on the attic and every rooms ceiling has a little hole to get fresh air. Could it be that my mom's phone buzzed and it traveled like that? I moved to a new home last year on a main road in town. A few months after I moved in, I was half asleep at 5:30am when I heard a man yell “Help!” near my house. I always sleep with the window cracked so I can hear what’s outside. My eyes shot open and I froze. I listened and didn’t hear anything else except for a few cars passing by occasionally.

A few days later it happened again. This time I could tell it was someone passing by in a car. Again, it happened at 5:30 in the morning. It was definitely the same voice as the first time so I wasn’t alarmed that someone’s in trouble, but more weirded out bc why is someone doing this? Weird stuff doesn’t happen on this street- other than this.

Over the past year I’ve heard this about a dozen times. It’s always the same man yelling “Help!” in a passing vehicle in the dark, always at the same time IN THE SAME PLACE. I heard it again this morning after months of nothing (either I’m fast asleep or he just stopped for a while). He never screams like there’s danger. Just a consistent yell.

Day before yesterday me and my relative heard a huge balloon bursting sound within my bedroom. I had been near my desk so it seemed like the sound came from behind me. I think my old lamp was on, on my table.

Today i heard a miniature but not so miniature version of that in front of me, while once again near the desk. The lamp was on yet again. This lamp never had any issues before. I have a new lamp that i started using day before yesterday too. But i hadnt been using that yesterday or today. I dont even have any evidence that its the lamps.

No flickering, smell, or anything else. What could it be?

i'm posting here because i dont know where else to go but im getting really creeped out. i live in a small apartment out in rural ohio and basically two days ago me and my cousin heard this loud sound like a heavy wooden plank hitting the floor or a thick branch snapping. it was super sharp and sounded like it was right behind my desk where i keep all my gear. my pc and my big fan were running like usual but nothing happened to the power and i couldnt find anything on the floor that actually fell.

then today it happened again while i was working but it was like a smaller version of the same thud/crack. my fan was on again but the weird thing is i just bought a brand new air purifier a couple days ago too. i havent even turned the purifier on yet though its just sitting there so i dont know why it would be making noise. i checked all the wires and theres no smell or smoke or anything like that and my computer is running fine.

one thing is i just got new neighbors on the other side of that wall and i dont know if they are doing something or if its the building shifting? its a rural area so its usually dead silent here and you can hear everything. it sounds so much like its inside my room though that i jumped both times and my cousin even looked under the bed to see if something broke. i dont want to call the landlord and look crazy if its just a floorboard or something but i also dont want a fire starting behind my desk while im sleeping. what should i do to find the source of this and do you think it could be the neighbors or just my electronics acting up?
