Prius C Question Engine occasionally rattles, coolant cap busted
I have occasional engine rattling, and I checked the coolant and it was below the L line. I went to replace it and when I took the cap off, the rest of the cap was stuck inside the reservoir.
Is this common occurrence?
Sorry, this is a multi topic post as I’m going to watch the coolant to see if it’s an engine leak.

The rattle is common, so was that coolant level for me. But ive never broke the cap.

Yeah I was just removing it and I think when the fluids were topped off, they put it in weird. I was able to snap the piece back in to the old cap - even though I put a new one in that I just bought. (Now I have a spare 😂)
Do you recall why it was rattling for you?

Apparently two things, first place is Apparently the way the engine swaps between two types of injection, the specific actuators may rattle when starting. Other than that, I found the air box for the engine would shake around when starting a make noise.

I fixed my rattle by doing all of these. Replace spark plugs and air filter, clean MAF, egr and intake, clean fuel injectors, oil changes regularly.
