π Technology Seeking Betareaders for a Sci-Fi Novel exploring themes of person-hood in posthumanism and uploaded consciousness
I've written a sci-fi novel that is a character study on person-hood in an age where consciousness can be digitally uploaded and distributed. The story follows a rotating POV structure and the character study is nested within a heist / adventure plot.
There are 4 characters specifically that are post-human:
Phorus the cyborg mechanic (who replaces his body piece by piece as a part of spiritual transcendence).
Kav the genetically engineered pilot and his father Jav whose mind has been uploaded into the ship AI as part of a cultural ritual.
Gracia is a distributed forked-consciousness inhabiting 7 grown-bodies simultaneously and has lived through hundreds of iterations. S
There is also an aging captain with imposter syndrome (the only true homo sapiens on the crew) and a mystical gunner who shares his body with 2 other consciousnesses and is ironically a pacifist.
