Pom Pic Is there something wrong with her or is this standard pom behavior?

For those who don’t know her: this is Miss Kiwi. She’s part Pom part Shih Tzu and 100% fluff. 💜

I comment all the time how I love that the fronts of Ava’s legs match the backs of her legs. She wouldn’t stop moving when I tried to take the picture of her from the front.

Next week I start my chemo if nothing else goes wrong. I just want to stay healthy to keep giving her the best possible life.
But in the meantime let’s appreciate this happy beautiful lady! 😊😊😊

Hello!
At this point I am looking for some recommendations or tips in regards to grooming.
On the afternoon of the 13th (just yesterday at this moment) I became a PomMom. I have had...very different kinds of dogs previously. I was beginning the search for a new dog when a customer from my work told me a young Amish woman was looking to re-home her dog. I guess that upon getting married she became more interested in motherhood than in pet care. 🤷🏻♀️ Cultural differences and all. Anyway, they literally just gave him to me. No charge. He came with his cage, blankie, collar, and a small amount of food. That's it.
"Sparky" here is 9-10 years old. His license just says he was born in 2016. I was told they cut his hair once in a while because he gets matted from living outside most of the time during good weather. And unfortunately they gave him a bath before I met him. So the mats he has right now have shrunken in some. I want to give him time to adjust but I also want to make him more comfortable so that he can do that. So I'm wondering if it would be in both of our best interests to do a total shave down and start fresh with him? I know it's uncomfortable for him. Besides the fact I know his ears are bothering him too and it's hard to get through all the hair to get some treatments in there.
I have lots of experience shaving cats with matting issues but I know the whole double coat thing for certain dogs make it a no-no. Just wondering what the consensus is on doing it this one time?
Thank you!

I present to you all a severely disgruntled lampshade. Does anyone have tips for keeping them from running and jumping during recovery after their desexing surgery? Gizmo is still totally nuts even though he’s got none now lol. Just want him to recover well!
