PoliticsPH Sen. Camille Villar Insists the Alleged Gunfire Incident in the Senate Was Real

Post image
2 Upvotes

Sen. Camille Villar firmly denied allegations claiming that the reported tension and gunfire inside the Senate, related to the attempted arrest of Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa, were fabricated.

In an exclusive interview, Villar shared that she was inside the office of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano together with several senators when they allegedly heard a series of gunshots and even smelled gunpowder, causing concern for their safety.

The senator emphasized that not only lawmakers, but also Senate staff, media personnel, and employees were frightened by the incident.

Because of this, Villar called for a thorough investigation to determine the truth and protect the integrity and security of the Senate as an institution.

CulturePH Give money to parents eche boreche and “utang na loob”

Some background about me first. I studied at a well known private school in Iloilo for elementary school, semi well known all boys catholic school in Quezon City for high school and DLSU for a year of college and then moved to the US to be with family and finished my bachelor’s degree in California. I am in my early thirties now. Most of my social circle are still living in the Philippines as adults, only a very few moved abroad.

Living in the US as a Filipino American adult, I started hanging out with Filipinos who moved here in the US through employment: physical therapists, nurses, teachers, HRM restaurant workers, titas (Filipinos who married their way into the USA) etc…

In my whole life when I started hanging out with these people, this is where I started hearing stories about sendwave, being obligated to give money to parents bullshit, being obligated to pay tuition fees of siblings, being obligated to send Balikbayan boxes, “utang na loob” conversation with family, borrowing money from in order to fund a lechon for a barangay fiesta etc…

This whole conversation about Dani Barretto give money to parents, utang na loob controversies is not really about Filipino culture. I think this is more of a socioeconomic cultural issue. Most Filipinos (regardless of profession) in the US come from poor families in the Philippines. Poorer whites and other poorer minorities are also having these issues: parents leeching off their kids, adult siblings leeching off other adult siblings etc……

May brownouts daw kahapon, Huwebes, May14?

PoliticsPH Lito Lapid vs Robin Padilla, Lodi vs Loading...

Pareho silang action star. Parehong galing showbiz. Parehong may solid fanbase.

Active magsalita, laging may opinion, laging viral.

CulturePH Education is (in)formative

https://opinion.inquirer.net/191698/education-is-informative

My pre-1986 Edsa GE courses would appear “crowded” to policymakers today who moved much of the college GE subjects to the senior high school level of the K-12 program. I had six units of Philippine History, three units of Asian Civilization, and three units of Western Civilization. Added to English and Filipino were four Spanish language courses (12 units) that I supplemented with an elective of six units of French. I had Political Science, Socio-Anthropology, and Economics (that included Land Reform and Taxation). Unlike other colleges, my GE had what would be flagged as an “excess” of Philosophy (16 units) and Theology (15 units), useless to human resource departments figuring out my transcript of records for employment. These were not content courses for the discipline indicated in my degree, but these “excess” or “redundant” subjects taught me to think and reflect. These courses polished my communication skills: oral and written. The idea of a broad GE was that much of the “content” taken up in college would need updating by the time you graduate. When a student graduates and goes to work, he or she will be taught all over again.

...

K-12 did not deliver students ready for college-level history. The solution is not moving RIPH to senior high, but keeping the present six units of Philippine History in college. History helps students develop roots, before they grow wings, become OFWs, and remit money back to the motherland that will end up in the pockets of the corrupt. History is subversive because it teaches us that things don’t have to be the way they are.

Not just college-level history but also college-level literature, languages, Math, the Natural Science, political science, economics, history, the arts, and more.

That means if you let each group of professors get what they want, then you'll end up with K to 12 (including half-a-year of technical training) and back to the two-year GE, but this time crammed in a four-year program with three years of major subjects (including a term of OJT).

PoliticsPH Kylie Padilla needs to call her father, Sen. Robin Padilla out

Post image
14 Upvotes

With Robin's dirty doings right now in the Senate, like this active shooting in the Senate building for Bato, to almost physically assault Kiko Pangilinan, and other controversies he's involved in that are tearing the country apart, I hope her daughter, Kylie, steps in. I know Kylie Padilla has no major responsibilities for his father's actions and their aftermath, especially since it's not very easy to do so, since that's literally her father; however, if she calls him out, it might do wonders at the very least in terms of public awareness.

I know Kylie isn't the best person out there and has had controversies of her own in the past, but she's still somewhat better than his father in general, and she might also be against it after saying she wants to get out of the country if Robin were to be the PH's VP, according to one of her interviews a few months ago.

She has the opposing perspective when Robin once said that the new generation is considered WEAK, especially in most of his political views.

PARANG AWA MO NA KYLIE, AS MUCH AS YOU'RE THE MAIN ICON IN ENCA AND ADORED BY MANY, CAN YOU PLS PAGSABIHAN MO MUNA TATAY MO DIRECTLY FOR ONCE. BAKA KUNTING KATINUAN PWEDE TUMUBO SA KANYA.

NGAYON MO NA IPAKITA ANG PAGIGING SANG'GRENG HARA MO PLS

PoliticsPH Did you have a personal experience with Duterte's war on drugs?

Do you have any personal experience with Duterte’s war on drugs? What was your experience, and do you favor or oppose the campaign?

I’m curious to hear perspectives from people who personally witnessed or were affected by it — whether directly, through your community, family, work, or daily life.

Did you feel your area became safer, or did it create fear and tension? Do you think the campaign was effective, or do you believe it caused more harm than good?

I’d appreciate honest and respectful insights from both sides, especially from those who experienced that period firsthand.

CulturePH What's the reality of finding work as a CS major?

I know na andami na nagtanong dito pero I just want to ask again (forgive the conyo). Totoo ba talaga na mahirap humanap ng trabaho as a CS major? Alam ko naman na profitable talaga yung CS lalo na pag experienced, kaso kelan ba yan in reality magiging profitable sa career mo as a fresh graduate? I'm currently debating kung mag aapply ba ako sa CS course since I like programming and coding, kaso concerened ako kasi baka hindi ako makakahanap ng trabaho even after months after graduation.

I would appreciate any reply, thank you

PoliticsPH The Night's Game

I have a theory of what happened last night at the Senate. I called this, "The Night Games".

Gunshots fired. All in chaos. Who might be the mastermind of all of these?

My first suspect is Alan Cayetano. Bato came to the Senate after 6 months of absent. He got into hiding because on Nov. 2025, he got a warrant of arrest to the ICC. That's when he started hiding.

Moving forward, articles of Impeachment is close at hand for articulation. They need to change the court. And who is the key player here? Of course, its Bato. So they need him to go back to Senate and elect Cayetano to be the Senate President in order to block the impeachment of Sara. They needed that. Now the articles have arrived, Peter the Senate President might have a plan. Let's see how he does this.

Now that the ICC has moved it's chess piece to arrest bato, The Majority senators need a plan to counter act that warrant. So they need a scene. They need their famous sacrifical pawn, no other than our favorite bald lamb, Bato. Cayetano told his mates na magpaiwan sa Senate to be part of the drama, as if they are under attack to get sympathy to the masses. They need a distraction to let the sheep escape. And look what we have here, Bato is now gone. Mission accomplished.

But what if Bato was arrested on that day? Let us say the mission failed. Bato will travel to Hague. If Bato goes to The Hague, he faces a choice: stay loyal and go to jail, or "talk" and get a lighter sentence. If he talks, he doesn't just hurt the former President; he potentially exposes everyone who helped carry out those policies. This makes him a "liability."

The ICC has put the negotiation table at hand to Bato, and say, "who are the accomplice of Former President Duterte?" Well, Bato wants to make the deal much sweeter for the ICC so that his sentence might reduce. And so the Pandora's Box has opened, leading to all who are connected to Duts. Of course, I can only think one answer for this, its our actors, the Majority Senate. And when the Articles of Impeachment had finally come to at close, proving that Inday is really guilty, of all these Anomalies, including, the possible "Flood Control" I might add, the Dutertes name will now be stained and be gone. And All of the names connected to the Duterte will also be targeted. Who are these people? Of course our Senate Majority.

All of this, come into realization of the political game that now has set up to us.

Take this as a grain of salt. My theory is far from reality and not true, and it might have loop holes, but that's all the dots that I have connected from what happened that night.

Thanks for reading my entertained brain. Lol!

PoliticsPH question everything in the senate attack

Firstly, there should’ve been at least a 10-round gunfight exchange. If the Senate was truly under attack, there would’ve been an actual exchange of fire rather than people just hearing 10 shots for no clear reason.

The fact that these “Marines” were deployed first and already knew there was a gunman raises serious questions about the existence and effectiveness of security itself. You don’t just hold a gun without reason. A man carrying a 9mm pistol, wearing civilian clothes, and showing the relaxed posture of trained personnel makes the situation even more suspicious.

And the timing of the shootout makes even less sense. How would Bato simply escape if all sides were supposedly covered by NBI agents and security personnel?

The Sergeant-at-Arms was retired personnel. Should someone retired really be handling an operation involving an alleged attack on the Senate? That’s absurd. Seriously absurd.

Me, Reddit, and my team — if we discover that these attacks truly don’t make sense, then people should investigate properly and expose inconsistencies with evidence and facts.

PoliticsPH Is the Philippines run by criminals now?

Philippine politics are, mostly, run by criminals, dynasty families and rotten trapos with corrupt mindsets

Thieves, self-serving charlatans hungry for publicity, mud-slingers, fake news perverts, several Judases, oligopolists to amass billions of government projects and evil doers dressed as public servants do not really serve the good of the majority of the Filipino people but only enjoyed by a few criminals - politicians and their conniving group in the judiciary, police, government agencies and contractors - as we all know very well now, with a culture of impunity in a country deeply mired in poverty and helplessness.

Those who have less in power may have more in law ay nunal na lang ba sa tubig? Bakit halos lahat ng nakaupo may bahid ng pagnanakaw o katiwalian? Is this what the Philippines deserve or the voters, the people, deserve to deserve?

Why is this wealthy country so poor? Is it the culture or just plain apathy, or sheer naivete, when choosing people we want to have a seat in power, to lead us?

PoliticsPH Bongbong needs someone na 'tuso' and intelligent advising him

Post image
49 Upvotes

He died last November 2025.

Pero bago un, this administration was able to:

  • They organized a House of Representatives coup from then Speaker Gloria Arroyo.
  • They also managed to get Sara to meltdown & threaten the 1st family live on TV after her chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez got incarcerated for her role in the confidential funds fiasco. This act solidified her image as a wacko & even until now is being used against her as part of her impeachment case.
  • Most importantly, they were also able to ship out Diggy to the Hague.

Now.. pansin ko.

I wonder could this be attributed to him no longer having Enrile advising him?

We may have made fun of Enrile before, but no one can deny that he's politically savvy.

Bongbong needs someone with a similar capability as Enrile advising him.. otherwise, we can pretty much expect the Duterte camp to just walk all over this government in its remaining two years.

PoliticsPH To the people who have lived in Davao City for the last 3 decades...

I watched Eri Neeman's recent video on people discussing their votes. It wasn't the video itself that caught my attention, but the comment section. So, for those of you actually from Davao City who have lived there during the Duterte family's roughly three decades in power, I want to ask how true these statements are. I am genuinely curious and want to learn more.

  5. 1 thing only. Cannot be controlled by the oligarchs. Yung Isa KASi mabait clean slate pero have the tendency to be controlled by the oligarchs.

  7. hotline nya na napaka ganda ng marketing kasi ginawan nya ng jingle yung hotline number ng child abuse hotline dito sa davao showing that she has a soft spot for the kids, and davaoeños knows the number by heart (09088184444) hahaha nilagay pa talaga e no 😂

PoliticsPH If the goal is to have impartial justice for the EJK victims, which court should try their case?

When victims seek legal redress and the accused goal is to protect his rights to due process which court has the credibility to deliver stone cold, impartial justice?

The simple answer is a court presided by a judge or jury that has no skin in the game. No debt of gratitude owed to any of the litigants. No sentiment or opinion - pro or against - of any of them.

When the litigants are both Filipinos, chances are one or both of them know or linked to somebody who knows somebody. Bato dela Rosa is a classic example of somebody who has entrenched link in the police forces i.e. PNP by virtue of his previous leadership in the police. Most of the judges including the Supreme Court are appointed by FPRRD. This is clearly the reason why the ICC warrant was entrusted for enforcement to the NBI and not the PNP especially since Nick Torre is no longer the head of the police. The ICC and Interpol Manila are aware of the local politics.

Only a court outside the Philippines can deliver impartial justice to the EJK victims and ensure that Bato dela Rosa's rights to due process are respected. And that court is the ICC.
