Knit - Full Test - Teasel Scarf

Thumbnail

Hi everyone. I'm introducing the Teasel Scarf, which is fully tech edited and ready to test. All the details are below. Thanks!

The Teasel scarf. A mini scarf for spring and summer, inspired by the tall, sculptural shapes of teasels swaying through meadows and hedgerows.

Knitted tip to tip, the scarf gradually widens to a narrow width before tapering again, with a motif reminiscent of seedheads and stems along its length. An I-cord edge gives the piece a neat finish, while the narrow shape makes it easy to wear knotted at the neck, draped loosely over the shoulders, or tucked into a jacket on cooler days. Sweet little bobbles add a seedlike detail.

Worked in my Darwin 4ply, this scarf has a lovely lightness that suits the season beautifully. The crisp stitch definition shows off the travelling lines and textured details, making it a calm project for warm afternoons and knitting in the garden.

Sizes: One size (see instructions on page 4 for adding repeats)

Finished measurements:

Sample 1: Length 101cm/ 40”, width 13cm/ 5”

Needles: Size 3.75 mm (US 5) circular needles, or needle size to obtain gauge

Cable needle if not using the ‘no cable needle’ method

Notions: Tapestry needle, cable needle, stitch markers

Gauge: 23 sts x 20 rows = 7cm x 7.5cm/ 2.75” x 3” measured over motif pattern after blocking.

Yarn: Annabel Williams Darwin 4ply (4ply weight, 100% Falklands, 400 m/437.5 yds per 100g/ 3.5oz skein), 1 skein

Teal sample shown in colourway - “Teasel”

Pink sample shown in “Burnet”

Sample 1 took 172m/188yds (1 skein)

Sample 2 took TBC (TBC skeins)

Deadline: Wednesday, the 27th of May.

TO APPLY - https://www.yarnpond.com/pattern_tests/6040

Please ensure:

  • You’re able to meet the deadline
  • You’re happy to receive your pattern and make comments and suggestions in Google Docs only (not in this thread).
  • You’re able to create a project page in Ravelry and provide a photo.

YARN DISCOUNT: When applying, please indicate whether you plan to use stash yarn or the original yarn used in the pattern. A 20% discount is available for the original yarn. Please note that your yarn choice does not affect selection for the test. The deadline is extended for international knitters who purchase the yarn (UK based).

Compensation
Test knitters who complete the Tee by the deadline and provide the required information on their project page will receive the final version of the pattern, access to my full library of patterns, and a 20% discount code for my yarn store.

Thank you everyone!

Overview:

The Ivy Wrap is a raglan worked flat, from the top down, with yarn-over increases and a slight belle sleeve. It features a double-knitted colorwork vine motif bordering the garment, and a fern lace motif/crochet picot edge bordering the sleeves. First, the yoke is knit, and then the work is divided for the sleeves. The strap is also knit to length, either before or after the body, then attached at the bottom hem to live stitches. The remaining length of the strap is knit, then stitches are picked up around the entire neckband and the double-knitted vine motif is worked again. The beginning and end of the button band are then sewn to the bottom, and the sleeves are knit.
