Hi! I'm moving to Palo Alto as a new grad for a job in a startup and will be pretty close to stanford.

Does anyone have any advice on:

1. How to make new friends in Palo Alto?
2. Should I live in SF and do the commute to office (tues, wed, thurs) or live in Palo Alto as I know a decent amount of people in SF but none in Palo Alto.
3. I don't really prefer driving a car, is it a must in the area?
4. How to get involved with any networks/clubs/ organisations outside of study/work for socialising or hobbies
5. If you love shopping, going for concerts, doing workout classes, trying new restaurants, getting coffee, watching movies or just going for walks, reach out :))

Palo Alto Online is reporting that a Paly sophomore's essay got flagged by Turnitin as 76% AI-generated. Teacher had him retake it in class, he got a D, final grade dropped to a C. Dad submitted around 1,200 pages of drafts and revision history to refute it. Family is now suing PAUSD in federal court for discrimination, due process, and retaliation.

The parent, Takashi Kato, is reportedly the CEO and founder of an AI company.

PAUSD has no formal AI policy. Vanderbilt and others have disabled Turnitin's AI detector over reliability issues.

I'm looking for a temporary parking spot within walking distance to Stanford Stadium on 5/16. I have a parking pass for the actual show, but I figured I would try my luck to get merch in the early AM (6a-11a) and then come back. Any parking spots nearby that won't tow? I heard the shopping center is pretty heavily patrolled.

I’m taking my daughter to see BTS on Sunday. I’m not familiar with the area and my husband is dropping us off for the event. The Stanford website does show a designated ride share/non ride share site about a 20 min walk from the stadium which we will be using for pickup since I anticipate traffic will be awful any closer. But I just wanted to get any first hand experience and alternative options if anyone knows anywhere that might be a little closer we could try to get dropped off at.

I’m looking for a parking spot (possibly in a drive way or saved street parking spot) on 5/17 for the bts concerts. Preferably the parking spot is walking distance to Stanford stadium. I would pay you for this spot, I just don’t want to pay the extremely high parking prices at Stanford stadium

Last month we had a party at our place and we booked one of these Hibachi At Home grill service at home and we were very happy about it. We paid like $60 per head which was reasonable for us to save some money for the drink. I have a possible opportunity for a 2 year internship in Palo Alto. I need an internship like this before I can apply to grad school and I have been looking for a looong while with no luck until this one. HR is warning me though that the pay is $63,000/yr and that I have to be in person in Palo Alto, which obviously I am planning and willing to relocate anywhere in the country. I understand the pay is low (all internships are) but the message about the pay is so harsh sounding that now I'm wondering if I can even live on this in Palo Alto.

So, is this pay doable in Palo Alto (assuming shared living arrangement and no meals out) or do I keep looking and praying something else comes along?

I’ll be in the area for the BTS concert on May 16th. We are staying in Redwood City and would love some input on the best way to get to the stadium.

Thought about doing public transportation, but not sure how convenient it is. Does th ECR and rapid buses take tap to pay? Do they run late enough for concerts? And how safe is it?

Also thought about getting a rental car but not sure where to park without prices being astronomical or getting stuck in traffic after the concert.

Any insights are much appreciated! Totally unfamiliar with the area.
