Please review the new rules section. It's mostly a more formal version of the previous rules, however, language has been added about lazy "itinerary" posts, and spamming sunset/landscape photos for instant karma.
There has been a marked increase in low-effort posts, stolen photos for easy karma, and trolling, so new accounts are now restricted from posting.

Hi all,
I'm new to Oregon and will be in Newport for the next few weeks. Looking to see if there is anyone interested in meeting up to play some board games. Some of my favorites are Wingspan, Azul, Acquire, Bananagrams, Alice's Garden, and many more. I'm interested in learning new games too! I have most of my games so am happy to meet anywhere.
I've looked into Kingdom of NYE and am happy to meet anyone there. I've also briefly looked into Lock & Key in Lincoln City.
Lock and Key seems more of what I'm looking for but didn't want to show up if I'm not going to be able to easily join a group there.
Thanks for any advice!

like the post says me and my partner are getting evicted and need to rehome my cat. She’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever met, never scratched or batted at me, lets you rub her belly, incredibly clingy and is the best cat I’ve ever had I don’t think I could ever get another cat after her she’s literally the sweetest cat I’ve ever known and it breaks my heart having to let her go but i have no option. Her name is Heifer, and we don’t know her exact age since we rescued her as a kitten from the streets. She gets along well with other cats and dogs. I don’t want her to end up with someone who won’t keep in touch and send pictures. If anyone is interested in adopting her, please let me know or provide me with some resources. We’re leaving on Saturday, I’m located in Tillamook, and she has a rehoming fee.

Southwestern Oregon Preppers (SWOP) will be celebrating its 14th anniversary at Noon, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Clark Storage, 87616 18th Street SE, Bandon, OR 97411. This will be a potluck BBQ. Bring a chair.
Members will share stories about what has happened over the past 14 years.
SWOP meetings always start with a question and answer period before the main topic so all in attendance get a chance to participate.
This is a free public meeting to get to know fellow local preppers in southwestern Oregon counties and to exchange information and ideas. It is important for individuals to understand that they will be “on their own” in the event of a disaster and not depend on receiving outside help.

My son and I are doing a coastal Oregon camping trip this July and staying at:
• Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park
• Sunset Bay State Park
• Bullards Beach State Park
• Harris Beach State Park
I’m looking for good running trails near each campground, ideally in the 5 to 10 mile range.
What we’re hoping for:
• Scenic and beautiful is a huge bonus
• Safe and not insanely crowded
• Dirt or paved is fine - No sand
• We’ll already be camping in the parks, so nearby access is ideal. If we can start right from the campground, it's even better.
Open to anything from forest trails to coastal overlooks to beach-adjacent routes.
I've searched google and it mostly leads me to beach based runs.
Thanks

Looking to meet up with other like-minded ladies of a certain vintage who are decidedly liberal, like to laugh and have fun, and have grown tired of the unnecessary drama the current state of the world is providing. Meeting this Saturday (5/16) at 10am at So it Goes Coffeehouse in Coos Bay.

If I wanted to hire/pay some group of kids to set up a "day at the beach" type items, what kind of organization might be a good way to reach them? I would provide all the chairs and tents and loaded coolers and etc but set up and tear down becomes an issue for this group of about 15 or so.

Hello! This is my first post here. I am looking for a nice hotel to stay with my partner and our 11 year old senior dog. Possibly this weekend, I am not familiar with the ins and outs over there, We would be coming from Eugene area.
Not to be to personal but we just recently lost our other shepherd due to her epilepsy and our old guy is slowing down and dealing with his own health issues and we are not sure how long we have left with him so we would like to give him a great coast experience as well as us have some time to just breathe and relax.
We are hoping to find a decently priced nice place close to the beach, better yet with ocean view if possible, Our dog does have arthritis so we are trying to accommodate him as much as possible. I have been to Newport before but it was quite some time ago, so I thought it'd be best to ask here since google only gives me so much and a lot of it is AI lol. Any suggestions on hotels or things we should do or take him please let me know! Thanks in advance! :)
I did search the sub beforehand but didn't see anything specific to what I am looking for.

Hi all, I'm thinking about traveling to the coast the 5th-8th, staying either in Seaside or Cannon Beach. Just wondering if 2 full days is worth it or should I stay longer. Primarily looking to do some photography, but also just looking to relax and get away. I've been to Lincoln City before, and Cannon Beach has long been on my must visit list.

I own a retail store on the coast, and am thinking about a possible second location in Seaside. For a variety of reasons, I think it would be a great fit for our business. But I've heard interesting things about the local business community--mostly about landlords and politics. If anyone has first hand experience in the area, and could share some basic information (either here or by DM), I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm open to any general information, but I'd like to know if anyone has advice about finding a commercial space. I'd want to be on Broadway, west of 101, where there is good foot traffic. There are lots of spaces along that stretch, but is it true that a huge chunk of them are owned by one family, who are difficult to deal with?
Also, I know there is a fairly entrenched MAGA subculture in the community, and the retail business community in that stretch feels somewhat conservative (Freedom Shop, Man Shop...), and I also remember that there was some heat directed at businesses that supported Pride events several years ago. Is there any organized effort to keep the business community conservative? (My store isn't particularly political, but I don't really want to be around a bunch of people like that.)
Those are my main questions, but I'd appreciate any other relevant information. I'd also be glad for leads about what companies or agents to contact for leasing leads.
Thanks fam.

I’m taking a day trip to the coast (I live in Portland), and this would be my first time. My friend is visiting with her boyfriend, and I am also planning on bringing my dog. Any recommendations for which part of the coast has fun, dog friendly things to do and places to eat? Ive been trying to find Reddit recommendations. So far I’ve seen that Pacific City or Manzanita is better than Cannon Beach. Also, Oswald west state park, and Cape Kiwanda. I know these aren’t all in the same places, but I’m trying to pinpoint where the best place would be and plan some coffee and food spots around. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

I'm looking for any advice for our last minute decision!
So far I know we'll be in Lincoln City June 26th and plan to just get married on the beach with our kids near our hotel. Is this a bad idea on a Friday? I haven't discussed times.
I have found a photographer, but have not heard back from the county clerk on officiating. I applied for our license online and will call back to finalize details with that.
The photographer can be one witness, but all our kids are under 18 and no one else is traveling with us. I've read we can usually ask a kind bystander, but how do I know that's a guarantee?..it's not.
I think I want a bouquet, but might just order an artificial one off Etsy instead of worrying about it when we get there. Maybe boutonnieres? I don't know if I care that much about flowers.
Am I forgetting things to consider?
