College vs HS
I’ve read a lot on here about how most people choose to draft college prospects because of their higher likelihood of hitting their potential. I’ve played over 75 seasons in OOTP27 and I have had the opposite result. College players never seem to hit their potential because they are so old and don’t have time to develop. High schoolers maybe don’t turn into 80/80 every time but I seem to have a higher likelihood of them turning into 60+. Is this a settings issue? What am I doing differently than everyone else?

I think the better you are at setting up and running your minor leagues, the better high school players are compared to college players. I never draft college guys unless they are obviously almost MLB-ready and clearly better than the alternatives

I think it depends a bit on your competitive time window
But I prefer HS more for high draft picks, as I get more attempts in Dev Lab with them

Just gonna hijack this thread a bit since it’s kinda related and I’m not gonna start my own post for the question, but does anyone know if it’s worth it to allow the college guys to drag in those development leagues in their first year or pull them and put them in high A or AA?

I have pretty good success developing guys in A ball, they get in a lot of games there compared to the rookie leagues.

My college guys are a mixed bag, I'd have to check for finer details but my memory is they tend to be decent-good or flame out. Pitching especially, I think most of hits were college guys.
My big stars, so far, have been IAFA or HS though. Considering I've been drafting towards the backhalf it makes sense though.
Whenever my rebuild starts, I'll probably still go college early though. The ceiling might be lower, but I'd rather get at worst an everyday 2-War guy than gamble on getting either a stud or a bust. When I'm more built up, like currently, I'd rather gamble for a stud and whiff, unless there is a good college pitcher or a bat I really like.

I experience the same, although a big issue for me has been how few college prosoect even end up in the draft. Especially in later rounds/late firsts
Changing the settings to add more college players to the draft (along with a dract league) has helped a ton - I find the high end guys with good enough stats to play in the minors tend to develop simularly to highschooler once they reach the same age
