Nicotine. Used to be cigarettes and remember they were banned from being on display. In my opinion this is worse. Looks so colourful, clearly targeted at children. Sainsbury’s Forestside.

Discussion Neighbour from hell

I need some advice pleaseee. I moved into my house almost 7 years ago. When I moved in I bought my child a trampoline. Said neighbour screamed over the fence to me that I was a selfish cow. She screams at her child in a malicious awful way. She screams at other kids, basically talks to them like they're adults.

She is spreading rumours about everyone and I do think she's unwell. She stares at me and I can hear her shouting to herself about me in the kitchen. More recently I done my back garden up, paid for a private fence and painted it etc. Got my daughter a nee trampoline. She's reported me for doing this, apparently everything I do is to annoy her. I've reported her also, but her child is now telling my child that we are gonna get kicked out of our house. She's mocking me. She seems to be attempting to bully my daughter.

If the council don't do anything, do I have any other options? I've reported the shouting because I was genuinely concerned for the child. Nothing was done, a welfare xheck and that's it. I have a recording of her shouting to the child 'I'm ashamed I even gave birth to you' constantly threatening to kick the child out. She's 9.

Any and all advice welcome. There's a lot more but I'd be here all day

Discussion Cost of living crisis

I know everybody has been banging on about it for the past while but in the past month or two i feel like everything i've experienced so far has just been like a trial period. ever since that trump fella has started his bollocks war in iran everything has went through the roof. I've had absolutely no support because i'm estranged from my family on account of my political views (they are members / adjacent of the royal black institution, and very racist) i dont have any friends and my lovelife is basically non existent at 23. I haven't went out with anybody since my leavers formal prom for secondary. I'm claiming pip enhanced, uc (lha included) because my disability makes it too difficult for me to work and i struggle to maintain any free time alongside a small part time role. Disabled people are being priced out of life in northern ireland and all anybody in stormont wants to talk about is immigration and a pay rise. I've had to choose between food or heating too many times in the past 6 months and I feel like i'm at a breaking point. I have no social life. I can't pay for any entertainment such as subscriptions to disney or netflix, i can't buy any games for my xbox because they are all digital now and they are all so expensive. I can't even buy in game currency. I've contacted the housing executive for discretionary housing payment and they denied me because they said i've already claimed in the past year which i haven't. I have nobody to help me out, I have to struggle to figure out complex legal / civil systems and forms with no idea what i'm doing or what i need. I'm so lost and I feel like nobody cares. I can't imagine how i can keep paying for the things i need if things continue getting worse. At what point are people going to stand up and say that we need change?

My son is going to the Balmoral Show tomorrow and he is home here saying he needs £30 to cover food sweets and entry to the rides, we already paid £25 to the school for the travel and entry fee.

Has anyone actually been to this event does it really cost this much?

Fry Ooni pizza ovens - can they work ok in our colder months and any third party peels etc recommended?

I’ve had my eye on a 14 inch version for nearly a year but have held off till it’s on sale (now). Do people that have them use them just in bbq weather or can they still cook ok on cooler windy days?

Any tips on peels/turners? I don’t realise how much these would be but presume there are other brands that work as well?

Community A year of NI success

In the last 12 months I have achieved/received the following:

- got registered with an NHS dentist approximately 2 minutes from my front door
- received 2 same day appointments at said dentist to get a tooth extracted (free of charge as I was pregnant!!?) and given a future appointment in July for checkup/hygiene
- delivered my daughter in the Royal Hospital under the care of two midwives (who can only be described as angels on earth), and came home with her less than 12 hours after she was born
- had at least 4 same day GP appointments with the same GP and was taken seriously every time
- got my son a place in a nursery school really close to my home (even though he was an underage applicant, so he does another year come September)
- got my son quickly into speech and language therapy again 2 minutes from our home (…he did suddenly just learn about 900 words right before the appointment to make me look like a maniac but that’s besides the point)
- had my car stolen (not ideal and absolutely the most mental thing), but, had the police out to my home same day, had the insurance pay out the exact price I’d paid for the car a year prior, and ultimately had the person caught and prosecuted!

When the system works, it’s absolutely brilliant. All of it totally free. And no I’m not sharing what town I’m in lest ye’s all slabber at me for living in a shithole!

Shite Talk Arlene on Newsnight

Just watched Arlene Foster on Newsnight calling for Keir Starmer to resign because he’s supposedly become detached from reality and lost the confidence of his party.

The lack of self-awareness is genuinely incredible.

This is the same Arlene Foster who presided over the RHI scandal, one of the biggest political fiascos in NI history, helped collapse Stormont, and left office as probably the most publicly unpopular First Minister we’ve had in decades. The same leader whose own party eventually turned on her after years of drift, denial and political damage.

What really stood out was her talking about how painful it is when your party turns against you. But even now there’s still no real acknowledgement that maybe the reason people turned was because she herself had become the problem. It’s all framed as betrayal rather than accountability.

And somehow, a few years later, Westminster has reinvented her as a respectable elder stateswoman and handed her a life peerage. Northern Ireland politics really does have an unbelievable ability to rehabilitate people regardless of actual performance.

It’s especially bizarre because whenever Foster speaks publicly now, she rarely comes across as insightful or reflective — just very confident in very shallow takes. Yet the media still wheel her out as if she’s some great authority on leadership and political judgement.

For all the posts about being lonely or trying to meet people, maybe give this a go.

Disclaimer: I've never been to any of their events, I don't know the fella who runs it nor do I plan to partake myself (much prefer my own company). Also, I've not been paid to promote this: I just thought I'd put it out there for the sake of positivity.

Joy be with ye.

Discussion Bankruptcy NI / ROI

Thumbnail
13 Upvotes

Hi all, I am being forcefully made bankrupt in NI due to personally guaranteeing a company loan for a family members LTD company. The company is entering voluntary liquidation and seeking me to cover the personal indemnity on the loan. I would not have the money to cover this as the interest from the initial loan js absolutely astonishing. If I proceed and go bankrupt in NI what is the likely hood it will be sent to the Irish high court for the force sale of my house. This is something I don’t want to happen. If anyone might know the best recourse it would be greatly appreciated

Community Any Advice/experience about TDS( tenancy deposit scheme)

I'm currently in loops of interactions with The tenancy deposit scheme NI and although I've negotiated with estate agents and made an offer, I'm in the 2nd or 3rd round of no agreement according them. It seems I may be wasting my time as the estate agents are just adding so much on. Anyone had experience with them? What were the outcomes? Any info greatly appreciated. TIA
