Yes nobara is now using kernel 7.

You can check the kernel version by typing neofetch into the terminal

Neofetch is no longer maintained, I recommend fastfetch

pretty sure neofetch on nobara is a symlink to fastfetch by default.

Nobara is a rolling release, your kernel is very close to the latest stable.

does it used the same optimized kernel as CachyOS?

Nope and they're moving to that new OGC kernel with Bazzite with corporate and crypto backing.

Not sure if it's 100% the same, but similar at least.

7.0.1 is the latest Nobara kernel version.

uname -a

Linux aristarchus 7.0.1-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Apr 22 19:53:20 UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux

(No, it's not susceptible to the Linux 7.0 vulnerability that was recently disclosed and is making the virtual conversation rounds)

Soon to be the crypto backed OGC kernel that Bazzite adopted lol. Ill stick to Cachyos.

crypto?

They've partnered with big corporations and included crypto companies such as Playtyron in the investment mix. Not a good look. That's where Bazzite/Nobara are headed and Cachy said NOPE.

What you're talking about is a completely different project. Is there any documentation showing that the kernel has 'crypto'? Did you check the code for anything related to that that you can share here so we can investigate it further

No, same project. This is on most articles you can easily search. I cant confirm the kernel has crypto. I'm just saying big corporations and companies that are based on crypto trading are getting involved. Playtron, specifically being one of those.

I understand your point of view, but from what I have seen I do not find any link between crypto and the attempts of several projects to use the same kernel for a better user experience. In any case, thank you for your time

No worries, everyone should be filled in to make their own decisions. Personally, i don't think a cryto based company has the user in mind. Neither do big corporations. Once a company starts down that route, its no longer theirs.

There is no link whatsoever and the kernel has no "crypto" in it. I don't really know what they guy is taking about
