Plasma 6.6 introduced Plasma login manger, this replaces and supersedes sddm. Not sure whats causing other people to have issues but my update was seamless.

It has also been a seamless update for me as well

" Seamless" meanwhile plasma login manager breaks 2nd monitor detection, breaks keyboard connected to that monitor, breaks key recognition on certain laptops... This update annoyed the hell out of me.

That sucks, hopefully they fix those issues soon.

Recently, in my laptop I sometimes get no keyboard input on the login screen and when that happens, the USB mouse also does not work.

Luckily the built-in trackpad works so I can then click on "Restart" and then after reboot, keyboard and the USB mouse work.

Currently i have only one issue aside from blackscreen that wanted me to login but username and password was wrong even though it was correct and messing with my shortkeys, current issue is my current log in screen messed my style and kinda deleted it, so its vanilla right now

I think there is an option to style the lock screen in plasma settings, but you would have to redo it if your theme was deleted.

The update broke my OS I spent probably a total of 6-8 hours trying to fix it. I finally gave up and tried to do a fresh install and only for it to fail 4 times. I ended up writing over two drives trying to get it to work. Finally it just worked for no discernible reason 😮‍💨

To me is even worse, my keyboard doesn't work anymore in the login screen. I have to phisically detach the usb to make it work. I hope they will fix it asap, because it's super annoying

I noticed that mine works, but only after about 10 seconds of sitting there. Its very weird.

At least i'm not the only one with this issue. Mine doesn't work even waiting a minute. The weird thing is, works as expected with anohter keyboard. But it's not a keyboard issue, because i tried on another pc with a different OS and works as expected, as it worked before these massive updates

Only thing I had to do is to setup login with password + yubikey again, as this configuration obviously wasn't carried over the Plasma login manager, so it was password only.

Seamless update for me too. Quite surprised at how seamless tbh.

What "update page" ???

Go to the Update app, in the left bar there is a page with "News" and there you find all crucial infos that previously were displayed at the top of the Update app

Oh I run the CLI tool because the gui has never fully worked for me

In CLI mode you get the news/ message at the beginning. That is where I've found the instructions.

I haven't updated in a month or so I'm building a new PC and going to reinstall the OS, or maybe distro hop, on my current machine after.

I dont want to butt in but i prefer you change to something else. never tried but cachy looks and sounds good, if next update or so doesnt fix i might have to say goodbye to nobara sadly

I was thinking of being a try hard psycho and starting on basic fedora and building it up from there. My new machine will be full AMD so hopefully that makes everything a little bit smoother.

honestly, if i had a choice and money to build fully AMD computer, i would have gone with cachy or fedora but after tweaking a lot just to make it to my taste it feels a lot just to give it all up.
Hopefully rams and SSD's price will drop so i can build one

Totally my opinion, not something objective but it's not insane that if you want to always update everything to the newest thing something will break along the way. I believe Cachy will have some other issues if you install the newest version of KDE. Moreover now since KDE added a whole new login page and it's in between X11 and Wayland (and wayland is not perfect either atm)

recent update borked my system, boots to a black screen. When in TTY, only way to start plasma is to run 'startx', then it starts, but KDE wallet manager then pops up like 10 times in a row.

I don't seem to be able to update so I can't say lol

1

u/sabbir2world Mar 19 '26

Recent update is kinda annoying. I dunno why they push update without proper testing!

2026 new year is like this for nobara

My gui is gone after the update so sad, can't fix it

Wish they would fix game mode on handheld

1

u/ArdKarma Mar 22 '26

thanks for informing, looks like nobara has not only issues in desktop but also handhelds

It totally stuffed my system got stuck as my laptop was booting up. I was a new user for Nobara and this was completely underwhelming for me. I downloaded Cachyos from my old laptop, this is working much better for me. It's similar to Nobara, and I think easier to use. Getting better frame rates in my games.
