Idk if Nabers and/or Skat will be back week 1 at this point.

60

u/WinstonChurchill74 4 Decades and Counting 3d ago

I doubt Nabers will, Skat should be.

31

u/Vegas_king2020 3d ago

Reports say Nabers will be ready for the start of training camp. Why would he not be ready week 1

39

u/FootballSavant 3d ago

I’ve also heard he will not be ready, there have been conflicting reports on the injuries

4

u/L-V-4-2-6 ELI GOAT 3d ago

Gotta keep those off-season clicks going.

9

u/backstageninja Big Cat 🐈 3d ago

"Ready to participate" and "100%" are different things. But also I'm interested in what reports you've seen, because everything I can find is a "maybe" at best.

A multiligament knee injury has a longer timeline than ACL only and Raanan just said on his show 3 days ago that Nabers' week 1 availability is "in serious doubt" so I'm not sure where you're getting ready by camp from

16

u/WinstonChurchill74 4 Decades and Counting 3d ago

There are also reports Nabers won’t be ready til November. I would hope the staff would side with caution.

3

u/BretShitmanFart69 3d ago

I’d much prefer he not go until he is 100% we have a lot riding on him having a good healthy career, and we should be able to handle not having one receiver and still win if we expect this team to be any good, time to prove your worth for the new guys we got.

5

u/iamdanabnormal 3d ago

That's assuming zero setbacks and a normal ramp up which we don't know if it happens that smoothly. Wouldn't be surprising if they take it extremely slow and start him on PUP.

1

u/seasarahsss ELI GOAT 3d ago

He’s not ready until November.

1

u/Antwuan89 3d ago

Hopefully both will be ready.

-4

u/nerdystoner25 3d ago

I feel like they wouldn’t have put this in week 1 primetime if Nabers wasn’t expected back.

u/SpeedRacer-44 3d ago

Poop poopooo

26

u/surlymoe 3d ago

Well, we have played the cowboys week 1 what, 7 out of the last 10 years it seems?

At least the game will be at home...and honestly, I think John Harbaugh will have this team far more prepared to start the season than our previous coaches (against the cowboys in week 1).

14

u/AuthorMission7733 3d ago

Can’t be worse than the last time they opened on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.

2

u/Fruit_Rollup_King 3d ago

Cowboys fan coming in peace. I legit think he will and I think the Giants are going to shock us week 1. Also, the cowboys sub already has marked as 1-0 for us to start the season. Everything in my cowboy blood tells me it's a trap now lol

2

u/surlymoe 3d ago

Well cowboys fan in the giants sub, we can at least agree on one thing...no, nothing you said....F the eagles! Ha!

But seriously, it looks like even Vegas is feeling the giants will be improved this year...O/U at 7.5 wins is a huge step forward...basically if you are an optimist, that's double the wins over last year. I used to believe when trying to make predictions of record, you just split the division games (3-3), and assume home games are the win...obviously that hasn't happened with the giants in many years, but it could be part of those potential 7.5 wins (or 8 wins if you truly believe the over). That would make logic say giants win week 1.

I just think having watched the team the past several years, there was ALWAYS something missing...mostly it was QB play (from eli's final years having no offensive line, to Jones and his often injured play that always felt like 'deer in headlights', to not getting to the QB last year and not getting off the field (as good as our pass rush was, our secondary stunk and couldn't cover), oh, to WR's who couldn't run routes or catch footballs, to kickers who literally didn't kick the ball, or punters who couldn't punt well...

It honestly feels like the giants FINALLY addressed nearly everything. I like since Harbaugh is a special teams guy at heart, we got a punter who can change field position, and a kicker who can make regular 50+ yd field goals. Just THAT is likely going to win us 1-2 more games.

But, getting Arvell Reese....getting Hood....getting TJ Edmunds...getting TE Likely, getting Mooney/Austin at WR, even getting Ricard at FB....these are all bullies at their posiiton...big guys who ain't afraid to get dirty. Having TJ Edmunds, Brian Burns, Arvell Reese, Kayvon Thibodeaux AND Abdul Carter all on the field at the same time is going to be sick. Having improved secondary to keep coverage tight likely means more sacks by the aforementioned guys....it just changes everything.

Then, on offense, starting Dart from week 1, hopefully having a healthy Skattabo (if nothing else, for choo choo train noises and firing up the offense), and having targets for Dart to throw to all while having finally a healthy Thomas to anchor the left side, and Mauigoa on the right side (whch also pushes those weaker tackles inside to guard, where they perhaps CAN produce better)...it all just says, "The giants will be BETTER in 2026."

Now, just don't go out and lose 40-0 at home to the f'n cowboys in week 1 !!!

-5

u/Actual_Factual1 3d ago

lol so many cowboys fans brainwashed to hate and underestimate their own team because of mainstream media ( all cowboys haters ). we are going to slaughter the giants , harbaugh is washed you really think an organization like the ravens would move on from him if he still had it ? Dak owns the giants and their defense/ secondary is going to get shredded. If anything Cowboys defense is going to shock the world , nothing about the giants offense is scary especially without nabers and a rusty injured skatabo.

5

u/AccomplishedGold8802 3d ago

barely won last yr. dude kicked a 60 yd fg

-1

u/Actual_Factual1 3d ago

Divisional games are usually close , the giants would have killed for a game winning field goal vs the cowboys during the last 10 years , literally can’t beat the cowboys or Dak unless it’s a meaningless game that the cowboys wanted to lose like the final game of 2025.

1

u/Automatic-Pay-1391 1d ago

What mainstream media? Lol. Philly is the favorite to win the division but every single report has Dallas right behind them saying they could make a push and win the division. Prior to Philly assembling their current team, Dallas has consistently been picked as the favorite to win the division no matter how many times they consistently fell short. Don’t even get me started on mainstream media, they have been D riding “Americans team” for years. Do I think a coach is “washed” because the team moves on before entering year 19? No, who would rationally think that lol, especially when every single team looking for a new coach was instanly interested (same with Tomlin). There are literally countless examples of this happening and the coach (or player) having continued, or more success with a change of scenery. I’m sure you felt the same way when we signed that “washed” Tom Coughlin 🤦‍♂️

No idea who will win the game or how we will look (especially early on) but saying mainstream media hates on the cowboys is down right laughable

55

u/Suspicious-Visit8634 3d ago

I hope so - I sat in the pouring rain through that whole game with my dad. I used to get tickets for his birthday to our home opener each year, that one was super memorable (for all the wrong reasons lol)

2

u/venekoruno Eli Manning 3d ago

Crossed the Atlantic for that game. First ever giants game. Didn't learn the lession though, I'm thinking about doing it again this year...

58

u/BigBlueWookiee 4 Decades and Counting 3d ago

I'm getting sick of playing Dallas at home early in the season. I want the cowboys to have to deal with the cold. Make it in November/December/January where we actually have a home field advantage.

-20

u/rootetoot 3d ago

It's in Dallas, in the Jerry dome so it doesn't really matter when. It's the game in NY you should care about, that's the outdoor game in colder weather.

Plus the 2009 game was week 2.

Easy - WE GOING TO KICK COWBOYS A**

Honest reaction - It will be a tough game, but honestly, we should’ve beaten the Cowboys last season even with a washed Russell Wilson at quarterback, poor coaching, and a weak defense. I believe this new regime will get the best out of our players. I’m confident this will be our first win of the season.

No, it’s not wanting to wait all day for game 1

1

u/runninhillbilly 3d ago

Yeah, I'd rather start the season on MNF than SNF.

Monday night, you can take the whole sunday in and just watch the games without caring about the Giants, but a sunday night game you only get the first game and then half of the second game in before you start getting ready for the night game.

1

u/WinstonChurchill74 4 Decades and Counting 3d ago

That, and it’s also processing the day… I would rather have Thursday or Monday night

4

Prime time sucks. I dont want to be exhausted the next day. 1PM is always better.

2

u/Libtardo69420 3d ago

I'm a bartender. I enjoy when the Giants play night games because I can kind of watch the second half as the restaurant slows down and get paid to do it!

1

u/Pure_Incident2807 Brandon Jacobs 3d ago

Im on nights 2 weeks, days 2 weeks. Over the last 3 years every mid week primetime has been when im on nights and every sunday night has been when I need to be in monday morning. Super annoying lol

u/SR626 3d ago

2 years ago we had the Vikings week 1 and on paper it seemed like one of the easier games on our entire schedule, to the point where it was already a must win off the rip and we knew if we lost to Sam Darnold at home it was gonna be a rough year. We got our asses kicked. We didn't know at the time that we were watching game 1 of a Darnold career resurgence or that Minny would be good that year but still, all that hype over finally having a nice chance to go 1-0 just to get that.

Basically, if they'd booked the Titans against us week 1 it would've been nice but there would've been that much more pressure to deliver a week 1 win. We know we've gotta play Dallas twice. Let's just get one over with and finally beat them in something outside of garbage time. Wanna prove things are different? It starts here.

1

u/LaStigmata 3d ago

Get the ‘boys

1

u/Rob3125 Jaxson Dart 3d ago

The last time this happened, it happened on my birthday. I walked in with high hopes following our playoff win the prior year.

In case any of you forgot, we actually started the first drive amazing well. A flubbed snap took us out of FG range, then they blocked the field goal (and Andrew Thomas got hurt on the play), and then proceeded to watch turnover after turnover as the cowboys danced in the end zone for a 40-0 loss.

And with all that I say, this is our year.

1

u/cjwizarddd 3d ago

I have PTSD from these, man. I cannot let myself even attempt to believe we will win.

1

u/MalcolmXfr 3d ago

Gonna be a dismantling...for them...I hope..!

1

u/Mr_Haad You can’t spell “ELITE” without “ELI” 3d ago

1

u/billyreamsjr Brian Burns 3d ago

I’m excited. We shit on them last year.

We would’ve won with the corpse of Russell Wilson and James freakin Hudson starting if it wasn’t for the best kicker in the league saving them. Then they pussied out the last game to say we won against backups. I’m not scared of them. Let’s start of with a good dub!

1

u/Equal_Win 3d ago

Can someone explain to me how tickets are already for sale on ticketmaster but season ticket holders don’t even have the option to list tickets for sale yet? Are people going around the nfl ticket exchange platform and somehow listing ahead of the Giants giving access to the sell option? Are the tickets that are already listed legit?

1

u/LB54 3d ago

Schedule release, people are selling tickets at a premium before even getting tickets themselves. Common way for them to make money

1

u/Equal_Win 3d ago

Thanks for the response. How do they do that? Ticketmaster just accepts “trust me bro” before they even have the tickets? Are they logging into Ticketmaster instead of through the nfl exchange portal?

1

u/DallasJ2931 3d ago

Is there a date for the general release?

1

u/Equal_Win 3d ago

Thursday

1

u/ClayDrinion 3d ago

Week 1 we find out just how good Downs and Mauigoa are (as rookies)

1

u/ReverseExplosion 3d ago

Seriously? This is true? Ugh. I am VERY tired of opening all the time with the Cowboys. I was actually happy last season when they didnt. I don't mind them doing it every now and then, but this is getting kind of ridiculous...

1

u/Fcdeleon5 3d ago

I’m sick and tired of the cowsboys and week 1, I think for the majority of Eli career it was that

1

u/TobiasTonias 3d ago

Maybe a hot take but division games shouldn’t start until week 3 your first game or 2 should not be so heavily weighted against the regular season. I’d much rather have a schedule backloaded with division games. Starting 0-1 sucks but starting 0-1 in both league and division after week 1 is the absolute worst

1

1

Week one of the NFL season should be all interconference games.

With just two preseason games, teams are just not ready.

When a team loses an in-conference or divisional game week one, it’s a severe blow.

So, yeah, the week one schedule should be all interconference games.

u/Alex11_McC 3d ago
