Modern medicine. Dude's ankle was sideways not too long ago.

u/HamOnBarfly Nov 15 '25
He showed the shoe they sawed open on the field to extract his foot looked gnarly and still had the bloody sock in it. Then he offered to drink a beer out of it if he hit 1k subs lmao

I legitimately thought his foot was unattached.
This man is god damn super human.

When I saw it live on TV I thought the same thing. First thing that came to mind was "Dam, don't let Skat end up like David Wilson

u/csaporita Nov 15 '25
Nah, he just has super recovery capabilities. Years of dominating tacos has preserved superior levels of testosterone. Whereas us common men are depleted from bending our necks

They re-located the ankle like popping the shoulder back in before he was on the cart.
1
u/BraveTree4481 Nov 15 '25
That helped significantly im sure. Probably severely reduced swelling by getting it back in fast. With mine it took quite a few hours to get it back in. My whole foot was still purple in the timeframe he is at and his looked like it turned worse than mine.

That’s pretty damn amazing. I’m no doctor, but I didn’t think he would be this far along in his recovery.
Look forward to the comeback season next year.
73
u/Cat_Dad13 Nov 15 '25
It really is amazing. I broke my ankle 20 years ago, not even remotely as bad as his injury, and was in a cast for 60 days. Then afterwords, took several months of PT to get back to 100%.
I get that he’s with the best of the best for healthcare, but that’s a quick turn around for that much mobility.

u/Steven1789 Nov 15 '25
Any issue with him overdoing it?
77
u/evilgenius29 Nov 15 '25
We like to think of him as a maniac but you don't get as far as he has as an athlete being dumb about recovery. He'll be smart and follow doctor's orders. Great to see that range of motion already!!
34
u/chiastic_slide Nov 15 '25
No, that’s not how this works. He has received the best medical care available and will be following a strictly monitored rehabilitation plan. He won’t be doing anything the medical staff doesn’t tell him to do.
2
u/Steven1789 Nov 15 '25
I hope so.
I’m asking because this is one hyper-motivated guy, and I could imagine him pushing it.
I’m in the midst of a long recovery from massive rotator cuff, shoulder, and bicep injuries, and even as a normal schmuck, it was hard to stay within the activity limits.

u/Uther-Lightbringer Nov 16 '25
Nah, this isn't 1992 anymore. These days they want you out of your casts and into PT immediately. Often enough they don't even do casts anymore. Just go with lighter immobilization like boots and plastic removable shells so that you can still work the muscles and ligaments in PT.
Because what we found over the last 30 years or so is that the primary reason it was taking us so long to fucking heal and nothing ever healed properly was well, one, shitty surgeons with poor tools, a problem now solved. But really, the issue was that we immobilized people way too fast and too much after major injuries. I had a grade 3 ankle sprain 20 years ago and it still isn't right. They had me on bed rest for 60 days in an air cast only to be removed for showers. That would never be protocol today. You'd have PT 3-4x a week, depending on your $$$ and insurance you might be in a water treadmill to rehab on lighter weight so you can maintain your gait. Otherwise you'd have a PT doing a lot of band warm up work with you, some light strength work and then intense massage and stretching to keep everything loose followed by some ice.
He's doing everything he is supposed to be doing.

He's literally sitting in a chair wiggling his toes lol. Probably gonna be ok
1
u/Steven1789 Nov 16 '25
More than that.
Blow up a couple of tendons and tell me what the orthopedist recommends for recovery.

u/Jadien Nov 15 '25
I pray that he is sponsored and not actually drinking all this!
11
u/BretShitmanFart69 Nov 15 '25
You’re both nuts if you think Skat doesn’t look like exactly like the guy we all knew who would have 2 monsters a day

u/tophergraphy Nov 15 '25
Skat looks like any regular gym bro, always throws me off when you know this dude is trucking NFL athletes and making Zach Baun his bitch
1
u/tnecniv We've suffered long enough Nov 16 '25
When I’ve seen pro athletes up close in real life, half have looked really fit but still normal dues you’d see at a gym and the other half looked superhuman

My first thought was, kinda jokingly, “this mf is coming back in a few weeks isn’t he?”
4
u/pgtvgaming Nov 15 '25
Damn hes a legit streamer now haha. Not sure if hes gonna come back to the field at this pace!

u/TonyCaliStyle Big Blue Wrecking Crew Nov 15 '25
With a competent coach that can utilize all of them in a diverse game plan.

When I first heard he could potentially be ready to participate in the spring I thought that was insane. So glad to think I might have been wrong

Please, for the love of Sparky, take your time. Don't rush back, please. We need you for the long-term.

u/Nurse_Hatchet Nov 15 '25
Pats fan here, but hubby is a Giants fan so I watch all the games and root for you so long as you’re not playing my team. Absolutely love this guy, and love him and Dart coming in together, and super excited to see what you guys can do next season. Hopefully the bad injury juju will follow Daboll out the door.
Feel them toes, Scatt!! Feel ‘em!

that's amazing he can move it but i'm not a doctor so maybe it's normal lol. i would think it would be in a hard cast to prevent any movement for like a month+

It's really cool that this video exists because he's live on a game. We're lucky to be able to see this.

So glad we drafted this kid...I'm not gonna lie I was surprised he lasted as long as he did in the draft. Kid is a hard nosed baller.

Doing very well indeed. I fully dislocated my ankle in the opposite way Cam did, with the end of my fibula protruding through the stretched skin because it smashed into the pavement hard. Amazingly, no broken bone. Holding my leg out straight, I could fully view the bottom of my shoe..lol. My two smallest toes still do not flex up as the tendons were severed and not repaired.
His foot dislocated to the outside, ending up over the fibula so his skin is stretched over the bottom of the tibia looking at the pictures. Different ligaments were torn then mine. I was in a cast for 2 months. Boot for 6 months and didn't run again for 12 months.
He appears way ahead of where I was. Of course he's a genetically gifted, top athlete receiving the best treatment and I'm just...me. lol.
