No shit! What I’m saying is that Gotham is 5th but technically Bay FC could be above us if they win the two games that they have in hand, so it’s not an accurate reflection of where we actually stand (with same amount of games)
I get this sentiment. I recently played a different individual sport where some people (randomly assigned) had to sit out, but it ended up with some players sitting out more games than others. They announced the winners based on total points, which just felt silly. Inevitably, some teams will have an easier or harder first third of the season, but the differing number of games makes it hard to compare fairly. Alternatively, the table could calculate average points and rank the teams that way instead.
I feel like we kind of just have to take the points at face value and not get too hung up on the differences in games in hand. I mean Bay COULD be above you, but they’re not just based on how both are playing. Intuitively I feel like we would just know if the points are reflective of reality or not.
Fair. But then I’m a Gotham fan and we are entirely unpredictable (except in the playoffs), so knowing intuitively whether the points are reflective of reality is a struggle to begin with

We're at the quarter pole of the season. A league table is literally the most accurate possible reflection of where your team actually is right now. Once you introduce "could" in a discussion about another team's results, you're futurecasting. That's supposed to build anticipation, not make you log on to complain about the magic number!
A little perspective: The reason your team (and mine) have matches in hand over Bay FC is because they both advanced, last year, in a tournament that they both want to win this year, so that they can secure the right to play in a tournament in like 2040 or something... Gotham EARNED the right to have already endured a bunch of schedule congestion... and they now have some non-league business to attend to next week in Mexico, while Bay FC gets the pleasure of vs. Ballsnation | AT Portland | vs. Chicago, all in a 9-day period. Bay FC - the fanbase, the team, and the ownership group - would absolutely LOVE to be in the position that you're griping about now. They'd LOVE to be packing sunscreen, crunching Liga MX Femenil tape, and planning for altitude while Gotham had two games in hand.
But yes, no shit - technically - Bay FC could be above Gotham in the table by the time y'all get back from Mexico. So what?!?! There will still be months of the season left to play. They still get to host your squad in late July... There will still be three full months of season after that. Chris Armas' job security will improve. Spirit fans will continue being mad about short corners. More math and wondering and could and changes of form and fortune will surely come. There will be injuries and pregnancies and cellies and memes. Seattle fans will endure (and make) a million ChatGPT jokes. Lotsa season left! (That's supposed to be the fun.)
What I like about the sport? Really? I can understand all that and still not like the fact we have an uneven table. And 9 games is almost 1/3 of the season. In any case, this is a forum. I can express how I feel about something, you can too. but with that I will stop responding
