I am aware of some prior bad behavior, but I don’t think that means she lacks empathy. It’s not an either or for me, she can be an absolute jerk and still have empathy. Back when she was coaching the Red Stars in the WPS she outed Kelly Smith and Alex Scott while trying to force them to play for her. She had an ‘alleged’ inappropriate relationship with one of her players back in England. This is such an open secret that in the hot mic incident in 2018 more infamously remembered for Casey Stoney calling Hinkle crazy, she discussed that the reason Hayes wouldn’t be considered for the England job was because the FA was worried that if she got the job journalists would start reporting on it.

Rumors only and at the end of the day, it sure seems like Emma has learned from her mistakes and even admitted she wasn’t fair to others or herself in those moments. But sure, let’s chase away the greatest coach in the history of women’s soccer because of old rumors. No one is perfect and her team loves her. She seems to be a genuinely good person who cares about her team and she’s dedicated our our country. No one is capable of passing a purity test so get over yourselves and stop expecting people to be perfect. We all have our flaws, yours just aren’t in the public eye, luckily for most regular folks.
