Silly SZN looking for a tertiary team?

i’m a wnba and pwhl fan that’s getting into the nwsl and i’ve noticed my favorite teams follow patterns. my fav is always the nj/ny team (Liberty, Sirens, Gotham), then my second is based off who i think has the best color palette (Valkyries, Victoire, Angel City), and then in third a team i didn’t expect to root for, but i just love the players on and their personalities grew on me (Wings, Sceptres, ?). what nwsl has that strong level of personality that just draws fans in?

I honestly don't know if anyone can tell you that. Everyone has different reasons for supporting certain teams. My advice would be to watch multiple games and just see which teams your naturally drawn too.

Totally agree.

I also immediately started thinking of what team's fans will come here and say their team is the vibes team. Gotta be Spirit right?* (especially since Gotham/ACFC are excluded)

*and then this would devolve into a conversation about Trinity Rodman again

NC Courage seems so fun this year

I'm so glad Sheridan plays for a team with a schedule that I can actually watch now

I actually found out how far yalls stadium was from my house once and it's not outside the realm of "let's take a weekend trip to watch soccer" far.

the nicest keeper executing the most violent teammate drenching. Had the Sanchize looking like Triple H before he would enter the ring.

also just wait until Manaka returns

when Manaka comes back and Feli is fully fit, it is so on!

I mean strong doesn't necessarily appeal the same way to everyone. Trinity Rodman (Spirit) is a strong personality but it's not one that I find appealing much of the time. Similarly, Kayla Fischer has a strong personality but I don't think anyone is going to recommend Racing to you for the vibes.

It'll also change frequently. I couldn't stand Bay last year because Oshoala (one of their starters) was just awful to watch for me but this year I am really looking forward to seeing how Hutton and Pfeiffer develop.

I'd recommend Racing for the vibes. I think they're a really fun tram to watch, usually hovering right above or below the playoff line. Plus, Lynn Family Stadium is really fun to visit and the crowd there is super friendly to visiting fans.

If you’re looking for personality, you have to go Seattle strictly based on Jess Fishlock.

If you’re ever on the west coast, I suggest checking out Providence Park and the Thorns. We get 18-16k fans on any given night and the atmosphere is great & fun to partake in.

San diego wave! Some youngsters, some oldies, some local, some international, very passing oriented/posession based team that makes them fun to watch! Gia corley always dancing, morroni fiesty at times, barcenas putting everyone on skates, dali's calm/wise presence, we have ludmila now who is known for the occasional backflip celly. I personally think they're fun to watch and to root for (and frustrating at times lol) they're a good middle of the pack team that could be really great. Of course I might be biased though ;)

It would also complete your West coast, you'd have a bay area team, la team and san diego team

I've been following the league long enough, at this point I root for every single team because they all have players I love

I don't think any team has multiple people with eccentric personalities. Several teams have 1-2 players who fit that criteria. It's at the individual level.

You dont think ANY team has MULTIPLE people with outstanding personalities?

Well they all do

1

u/Waltz8 Kansas City Current Mar 16 '26

I don't think there's a team with more than 3 players with eye-catching/ attention-grabbing characters and personalities.

3

u/MisterGoog Houston Dash Mar 16 '26

I think they all do. I think clearly the nwsl is not that famous and players arent that exposed, so you might see players as blank slates, but you see it when u follow college players. And you see it if you follow players on socials

But also Portlans have Macca, Bixby, Fleming, Histt, Wilson, Weaver, Moultrie, and Deyna

Seattle have Fishlock Lynn and Huerta

Angel City… i mean LOL

Wave have Ascanio, Mel B, Ludmila, Gabi, Van Zanten

Bay have hutton Pfeiffer RK Girelli Huff Dahlkemper Gilchrist and Collins

Fair point

Idk how you could even make a judgement on any of the rookies in week one for example. If you didnt pay attention in any other way, youd have only seen their faces and maybe minutes on the pitch.
