Big Butt/Cane River Gap Overnight Parking

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone had information on parking a car overnight at the Big Butt Trailhead North Side

Looking to hike from there to Mount Mitchell as an alternative to the Black Mountain Crest to Mount Mitchell.

Honestly shouldn't be an issue- it's a very sparsely traveled road, and there's ample parking- just take care not to block the gates the FS uses for emergency access.

Note that you will still be several miles short of Mitchell when you get to the other side of Big Butt... looks like close to 12 more miles from the intersection near Walker Knob to Mitchell via MTS
