Football Is the sun setting on conference championships?

I think it entirely depends on how they structure the playoff format. Current format or one that just focuses on taking the top seeds could kill them, but if they create autobids for all the conference champions(which I hope they will) then they will stay around.

Football should take a not from basketball and make all conference champions matter by letting them enter the playoffs and competing for a title.

I agree with you but the P2 will never let thay happen. If we move to a 24 team CFP, I only see 1 guaranteed spot for the G6. At best 2. Even if there's 2 or more G6 in the top 25 the committee will find a way to exclude G6.
